My "Archetype: Plini" Presets (Neural DSP)

Hey guys,

a lot of people are asking me about the presets and tones I'm using. So I want to share some tones I use from the Archetype: Plan plugin. In this video you can hear an example of my lead tone.

In the attachment you'll find a Rhythm, Crunch, Solo, Clean and a Clean Solo preset I made.

How many presets are you using with your devices, and for which scenarios are you using each sound?

Note: I will post an update on this as soon as possible to match the sounds with Neural DSP's newest release Plini X.

It works great for Crunch tones!

Awesome! I love the Plini plugin for leads especially. Not so much for rhythms to be very honest.

Update. Created one or two good presets now for crunch sounds. Pretty cool stuff.

Just trying them out. They work. Thought they weren't compatible with the Plini X. So I have a lot to check out the next weeks. The Archetypes are very versatile, but I haven't yet found exactly the sound I'm looking for (the DOUBLER is funny). I don't like too much gain and in the past I was (actually I still am) mainly using a VERY modified Jeff Loomis preset on my Kemper... Anyway thanks for the response otherwise I still probably wouldn't have come up with the idea of just USING the presets LOL

That's awesome! Mac mini M2 should be able to handle that. You can use the same presets for the Plini X plugin. But I wanted to add more and make some updates because it has more features. Did you try the presets on the plugin yet?

Hey Rafael, I'm just testing the DSP Archetype plugins and was wondering if you already have the Plini X sounds you use (you posted the Plini presets a couple of months ago). Finally afforded a Mac Mini M2 with 16GB RAM. Hopefully enough RAM for my usage... Until now I've had no problems.

That’s interesting! I’ve seen the Kemper on so many tours. A lot of people are playing them. But yeah since Neural DSP is growing on the market obviously you see a lot of DSP stuff everywhere and I would totally recommend it. In my opinion it’s much easier to handle then Kemper or Axe Fx. When it comes to the sound options there is not really a huge difference. The newer models sound amazing from all companies. And I totally agree with what you said about the ENGL amp. When I have the chance I reamp my rhythm sound with an ENGL amp in the studio but in my home studio I don’t use it.

I've been using the Kemper for a couple of years now. I basically use only one preset which originally was a modified Jeff Loomis-sound. I use it for rhythm and lead, mostly in combination with a little reverb (in the past I also used delay but I'm starting to dislike it for the heavy sounds because it muddles everything up). Since handling the Kemper is not very easy for me (too many hard buttons, not intuitive), I decided to try DSP just last week and am now waiting for my audio interface so that I can get started. I also use a clean sound with delay and chorus. And I'm very curious how different the DSP is going to be in comparison to the Kemper. I might be going for the Archetype, I'm not sure yet, but I guess you would recommend it. Hopefully it's a bit easier to handle than the Kemper. But then again the Kemper is something completely different... In the past I just used my ENGL amp, that was it. Easy to handle but not very versatile in comparison with today's possibilities.
