SxD: A Schnee and a Broke Dragon
Added 2025-05-30 13:45:16 +0000 UTC(Weiss Learns About Issei’s Financial Situation)
It started with something simple.
Weiss had been talking about a new place where they could go on a date when Issei casually said—
“Oh, that sounds awesome. Too bad I can’t afford it.”
Weiss blinked. “What?”
Issei stretched, looking unbothered. “Yeah, stuff like that costs Lien, right? I, uh… don’t exactly have a lot.”
Weiss frowned. “You don’t have any money?”
“Not much. But I get by.”
“You get by?”
Issei grinned. “Yep!”
That only made her more irritated. “Issei. How do you not have money? I thought Beacon paid most of your expenses because of your circumstances."
“Oh, most of it Ozpin does pay for,” he said with a shrug. “And I do odd jobs here and there. But I kind of broke a bunch of the school’s equipment by not holding back during training. So… I’m sort of in debt. Not a big deal.”
Weiss stared at him.
This entire time—he had been struggling, and never once mentioned it?
Her mind reeled. He never bought expensive food. He never replaced his clothes. He never complained.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” she asked, voice tight.
He scratched his cheek. “Didn’t think it mattered. I’ve always been kinda broke. I just, y’know… deal with it.”
Weiss clenched her fists. That was not how this worked. He was her—her friend (more than that, but still)—and she wasn’t about to let him quietly suffer through something like this.
“…You’re an idiot,” she muttered.
He laughed. “What else is new?”
She hated how easygoing he was about this. But it explained why he always wore his school uniform everywhere, he probably couldn’t afford more than a few sets of clothes.
And that was the moment she decided—
Issei Hyoudou was getting his debt paid and an upgrade to his clothes, whether he liked it or not.

Later…
“Hey, Weiss, why do I suddenly have all these new clothes?” Issei asked, staring at his once-empty closet now overflowing with options.
“No idea.” Weiss said, turning her head just enough to avoid eye contact.
“Also, why is my debt to the school paid off?”
“Strange, isn’t it?”
“…Weiss, did you—?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“…I love you.”
“Shut up.”
He grinned. “You’re blushing.”
“I am not.” Weiss replied, cheeks tinted pink..
“You totally are.”
“I will end you.”
He chuckled, stepping closer, leaning just enough to nudge her shoulder with his. “Seriously though… thanks.”
She glanced away, lips twitching despite herself. “I told you—I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Right. Must’ve been some mysterious fairy godmother, who did this.”
“Exactly.”
“Guess I better keep her around, huh?”
Weiss finally looked at him—really looked—and her expression softened just a fraction. “Idiot.”
He beamed. “Your idiot.”
She rolled her eyes. “Temporarily.”
“I’ll take it.” And with that, he offered his arm.
She hesitated. Then looped hers through his. Going on their way to their date.
