Weiss marched through the halls of Beacon Academy, her steps sharp and determined. Issei followed behind her, hands behind his head, looking around like a tourist seeing a new city for the first time.
“Man, this place is fancy.” He whistled, taking in the grand hallways and towering ceilings though something told him he had seen bigger. “Are all schools here like this? Or is this, like, the super-elite rich kid academy?”
Weiss scoffed. “This is the premier Huntsman Academy in Vale. It trains the best of the best.”
“So, definitely rich kid territory,” Issei concluded. His eyes subtly flicked downward, noting how her uniform fit just right around her chest. Huh. Classy and cute.
She shot him a glare, and he quickly looked away, whistling innocently.
“That’s not—ugh, whatever. I’m taking you to Headmaster Ozpin. So he can deal with you.”
Issei tilted his head. “Huh. You’re really that eager to get rid of me?”
Weiss clenched her fists. “I am not ‘getting rid of you.’ I am ensuring that the proper authorities handle this mess.”
“Wow. You make it sound like I’m a criminal.”
“I haven’t ruled that out yet.”
Before Issei could respond, a new voice chimed in from ahead.
“Well, well, well—look what we have here.”
Weiss groaned as Yang, Ruby, and Blake approached from the opposite direction. Ruby looked mostly curious, Blake was neutral, and Yang—Yang had the biggest, most mischievous grin Weiss had ever seen.
And, well, damn.
Yang was stacked.
Issei’s eyes flicked down before he even realized it. ‘The physics defied all logic but again I feel like I have seen bigger. And I forgot it. How dare my brain forget something so important.’
He quickly looked back up before anyone could catch him staring, but Yang’s smirk made him nervous.
Yang elbowed Weiss lightly. “You brought home a guy? Didn’t think you had it in you, Ice Queen.”
Issei perked up. “Home? Whoa, whoa, Weiss, I didn’t know you were already that into me! I mean, I get it, I am pretty amazing, but moving this fast—”
Weiss turned a shade of red usually reserved for fire Dust explosions. “That is NOT what is happening!”
Yang wiggled her eyebrows. “Sure it isn’t.”
Ruby tilted her head. “Wait, who is this guy?”
“An idiot,” Weiss grumbled.
“Hey, that’s rude! I’m Issei Hyoudou, a totally normal guy—” He paused, briefly checking Ruby out. She was cute, but young-looking. Little sister material, he decided, moving on. “—or, I think I am? Still kinda figuring that out.”
Blake studied him, her sharp eyes noticing the torn uniform and his generally unkempt state. “You don’t look like a student here.”
“That’s because he isn’t,” Weiss cut in. “He showed up in Vale, clearly lost, and then punched a Beowolf into dust.”
Ruby’s eyes widened. “Wait, what? With his bare hands?!”
Issei grinned and raised his left hand. “Well, not exactly bare hands.” The Boosted Gear flashed into existence with a burst of red light.
[BOOST!]
A deep, powerful voice echoed through the hall, and a surge of energy rippled around them.
Ruby gasped. “That is so cool!”
Yang whistled. “Gotta admit, that’s a pretty neat trick.”
Blake’s expression turned more serious. “That… doesn’t look like any semblance or weapon I’ve ever seen.”
Weiss sighed. “Which is why I’m taking him to Ozpin. If anyone knows what to do with a ridiculous, memory-lost, alternate-world-traveling idiot, it’s him.”
“Alternate-world-traveling?” Blake repeated, skeptical.
“Yeah, I think I got tossed through a portal after fighting a—uh—” Issei paused, furrowing his brows. The memory was hazy. He knew he had been fighting someone strong. Someone godly. But the details… were just gone.
Yang nudged him playfully. “Ooooh, I see what’s going on. Weiss found herself a mysterious bad boy with amnesia. Classic romance setup.”
Issei grinned. “I mean, I am available.” His eyes again flicked downward. Yang caught him this time, her smirk widening.
“See something you like?” she teased.
Issei coughed into his fist. “Uh, no, I was just admiring the… uh… fabric quality! Yeah. Beacon’s uniforms are really well-made.”
Yang chuckled. “Uh-huh. Sure.”
Blake just sighed, while Ruby looked between them, clearly trying to figure out if this was some kind of joke.
Before the conversation could spiral further, Weiss grabbed Issei’s arm and dragged him past the others. “Come on, we’re going to Ozpin.”
As they took the elevator to the headmaster’s office, Issei hummed. “So, what’s this Ozpin guy like? He a strict old dude? Gonna throw me in a dungeon or something?”
Weiss hesitated. “He’s… hard to describe.”
“Sounds ominous.”
The elevator doors opened, and they stepped into Ozpin’s office. The headmaster sat at his desk, cane in hand, watching them approach with his usual unreadable expression.
“Miss Schnee,” Ozpin greeted. His gaze flickered to Issei. “And… a guest?”
Weiss nodded, folding her arms. “Sir, this is Issei Hyoudou. He claims to be from another world, has lost most of his memories, and is wielding a weapon or power unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”
Ozpin took a sip of his coffee, completely unphased. “Fascinating.”
Issei scratched his cheek. “Uh, yeah, so, long story short—I was fighting some crazy strong guy, got blasted into some weird portal thing, and boom! Woke up here. I think I should remember more, but my brain’s kinda scrambled right now. Oh, and I punched a wolf monster into oblivion. That’s about it.”
Ozpin nodded thoughtfully, as if Issei had just given a perfectly reasonable explanation.
Weiss frowned. “You’re… taking this awfully well, sir.”
Ozpin smiled slightly. “I’ve heard stranger and have seen stranger events in my life.”
Weiss was so sure he was going to lock Issei up or at least have security escort him out of Beacon. But instead—
“Well, Mr. Hyoudou.” Ozpin said, setting his cup down. “You seem capable enough, but if you are to remain here, I will need to see your skills firsthand.”
Issei blinked. “Wait, really?”
Weiss nearly choked. “You’re not seriously letting him stay?!”
“If he passes a test,” Ozpin clarified. “A demonstration of his combat ability.”
‘Plus a way to find out about this strange new power.’
Issei grinned. “Oh, you’re on, old man.”
Ozpin chuckled. “We shall see.”
Weiss buried her face in her hands.
This was not how she expected this day to go.
