The first thing Issei noticed was the blinding sunlight.
He squinted, raising a hand to shield his eyes as the familiar hum of city life buzzed around him. Tall glass skyscrapers stretched into a cloudless blue sky, their mirrored surfaces gleaming in the midday sun. Cars honked in the distance, the sounds of bustling pedestrians filled the air, and somewhere above, the faint whir of helicopters echoed.
‘Okay, definitely back in a city… but not Kuoh.’ Issei thought, glancing around at the towering American-style architecture and streets wider than anything back home.
The most telling clue was the giant golden globe spinning atop a building nearby, the words "Daily Planet" gleaming on its side.
“...Huh. So I’m in some kind of metropolis now?” he muttered, hands on his hips. “Guess the Watch really loves throwing me into random places.”
Before he could get his bearings, a strong gust of wind nearly knocked him backward. Papers flew into the air, people gasped, and when Issei looked up, something—or rather, someone—shot across the sky like a comet, a trail of red and blue streaking through the air.
Then, she landed.
The pavement crunched beneath the force of her descent, but she stood perfectly balanced, barely phased. Long golden hair flowed freely around her shoulders, catching the sunlight. Her blue and red costume hugged her athletic frame, the unmistakable “S” emblem emblazoned on her chest. A crimson cape fluttered behind her, and her piercing blue eyes locked onto him with a mix of curiosity and caution.
Issei barely managed to keep his jaw from dropping. At the otherworldly beauty that this girl released. Not to mention the childhood glee at the sight of a real superhero and most important then all her oppai, while not the biggest, was definitely impressive and firm.
She stepped forward, boots clicking against the cracked pavement. “You. You’re not from around here.”
Issei chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his head. “Uh… yeah, no. Kinda obvious, huh?”
Her gaze flicked down to his futuristic watch on his right hand and at the sound of his heartbeat too strong to be a normal human.“I saw the energy signature when you arrived. Metropolis doesn’t usually get visitors who just appear out of thin air. Mind explaining?”
“Right, right, fair point,” Issei replied, raising his hands in mock surrender. “Name’s Issei Hyoudou—dimensional traveler, occasional dragon emperor, and, uh… accidental tourist.”
She arched a brow, folding her arms across her impressive chest. “Dimensional traveler?”
“Yeah, not by choice most of the time.” He admitted with a sigh. “One moment I’m chilling, next moment I’m in a new world. It’s kind of my thing now.”
Supergirl tilted her head, studying him with an intensity that made him feel like she was seeing straight through him—literally. He wondered if she was using X-ray vision before she spoke again.
“You’re not lying,” she murmured, more to herself than him.
“Nope. 100% honest. I’m basically a magnet for this kind of chaos.”
A small smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. “You sound like someone I know.”
“Really, I hope he has better luck than me.”
She blinked before laughing. “He goes around looking for trouble.”
There was a beat of silence before she extended a hand. “I’m Kara. Kara Zor-El. But most people call me Supergirl.”
Issei clasped her hand, feeling the sheer strength behind it despite her holding back. “Issei Hyoudou. Nice to meet you… and thanks for not immediately attacking me.”
She chuckled. “You didn’t come crashing through any buildings, so you’re good. For now.”
He grinned. “Noted. Though, with my luck, give it five minutes.”
She floated slightly off the ground, her cape billowing behind her. “Well, then, how about I help you figure out how to get back before you break anything?”
“That’s not an issue. Usually that fixes itself. I should be gone in about a week.” Issei replied as he followed the pretty girl, though a part of him was already wondering how the hell he was supposed to focus with Supergirl literally flying beside him.
