Phases of Damsels Anonymous

Here’s something that I was thinking about today. I’m sure that a few of you are familiar with the MCU, or Marvel Cinematic Universe, the popular superhero franchise. Each group of Marvel films is broken up into “phases,” usually culminating in an Avengers film. Phase 1 of the MCU ends with the first Avengers film, phase 2 ends with the second Avengers, and so on, each phase of the MCU seems to have a running theme or lay the groundwork for the upcoming Avengers film in some way. The first several phases of Marvel films that conclude with Endgame is called “The Infinity Saga” since The Infinity Gauntlet is the glue that unites the first group of films, while this current group of Marvel films is “The Multi-verse Saga.”

Anyway, I was thinking that I do this with Damsels Anonymous, though it wasn’t intentional on my part. Damsels Anonymous volumes 1-4 definitely make up the first “phase” of the DA stories, which I’ve started referring to as “The Queen saga” since the first four volumes are building up to The Queen and Felicia’s captivity at her hands. Damsels Anonymous volume 1 is the first act, introducing the reader to Felicia Fetters, the town of Marston’s Pointe and its inhabitants, and the crime lord Ace. The second volume introduces us to more of the cast and gives us a little more insight into the workings of Ace’s organization, and it’s also where The Queen is first mentioned. The third volume introduces The Queen in a smaller role though she’s still a major antagonist in the story, and then in volume 4 The Queen takes center stage, as the entire story revolves around her. Volume 4 is the end of phase 1 and The Queen Saga since everything planted in the first three volumes culminates in this story.

The next two volumes, 5 and 6, are Damsels Anonymous phase 2, The Bikini Thief saga. Though this is considerably shorter than phase one, both 5 and 6 tell a self contained, two part story about Anya the Bikini Thief.

Phase 3 of Damsels Anonymous will begin with a short story about Shelly’s former henchwoman Lisa, whom we last saw as a prisoner of Randy. From here, we’ll go into the Damsels Games story, but what will the overarching story of phase 3 be? Well, I think we’ll all find out together…
