Not a real superheroine, “The Adventures of Mrs. Americana” is a fictional TV Show that exists in the Damsels Anonymous stories. First airing in the 1970s, the show was a ratings hit but was a source of controversy for several reasons, one of which being the titular heroine’s skimpy costume that comprised of little more than a thong bikini. The show also drew criticism for frequently depicting Mrs. Americana in bondage, in fact the buxom heroine seemed to get tied up and gagged every episode! Though it was canceled after 3 seasons, it lived on in syndication and is often credited for “giving an entire generation a bondage fetish.”
