Episode 4, Update #22

Salutations,

I'm about a week late with this dev-log, but that's because I spent the last week and a half abroad for work visiting my office. I thought I'd be able to send it at the usual time, but I didn't. Having to go away from my workstation for longer periods of time, always annoys me, as I it feels like it could do something while I'm away. I wasn't able to work on scenes during that time, but I did get my machine rendering all day every day for 10 straight days. I dialed in remotely every day to see if it was still going, and it did! Although I didn't progress in moving scenes along, I did manage to re-render some of the older scenes I did earlier, so that was nice.

Just before I went away, I prepared a simplified diagram that roughly shows the complete picture of where I'm at, and which scenes I have left to do. One of the earlier scenes I wasn't entirely happy about, so I decided to extend it. I'm trying to finish that at the moment. Ivan's branch (blue) looks a bit scarcer in the diagram, but that's because I haven't fleshed out the exact details yet.

As mentioned in a previous log, the plan was to finish one branch and then move on the final scenes so that I could play everything in its entirety on one branch from beginning until end. The more I though about the end scenes, the more I realized how much it relies on what you've chosen previously. Because of that, I can't start work on that until I've completed both branches.

Although I've completed most of the very large scenes, one of the two final scenes I suspect to be the largest, but we'll see. Although one path isn't entirely finished yet, it currently clocks out at around 1500 renders and will grow a bit beyond that. Now the question is if the other path will have roughly have the same amount, that I don't know currently. But yeah, in its current state, that makes it vastly larger and longer than episode 3... classic.🥵
