Episode 4, Update #8

Hey all,

-General blurbs-
I finally managed to get the render queue working in UE5, which means I can finally start rendering overnight, and at a slightly higher quality level. This speeds up production quite significantly as I can focus on making the scenes, while the renders are done when I sleep. It also means my power bill will go up massively. On the plus side, it also heats my office at the same time and its pleasantly warm in the morning when I wake (great for the winter months, but I dread summer already!). I'm still limited to doing 15 to 20 renders a night, as I need my PC ready in the morning for my job.

I'm contemplating setting up a machine dedicated to rendering. I can potentially use my previous PC as its gathering dust anyway, but I'd need to get another 4090 at some point. It's quite a significant investment that will also increase the power bill even more. Unfortunately that's not an investment I can make currently. These are good plans for the future, should I miraculously get enough support, but I highly doubt that.

Last week I was away to spend a week at my company, so I didn't do any work on the project. As you can probably guess from the preview render, I'm working on Taylor's scene. As a whole, it's one of the longest scenes so far, that allows you to get to know her a little bit more. But it totally depends on which path you've taken to see it all. If you decided to not get involved with the band at all, you'll see none of it (🥺), as you wouldn't have met Taylor. If you are involved in the band, but not romantically interested, you'll just get the friends path with a bit of backstory. I've got a spicy gig planned for the band, and this scene leads up to it...

I've got one more week to get through at my job, and then it's Christmas holiday time for me. I'll have some time to spend on more scenes, but I'll also travel back home to visit my sister and her husband over Christmas.
