Toon style test with Lara

As I said in my previous post, I'd like to move away from my previous style and try something a little more stylized (a bit like the Arcane series). I took some time to model a stylized version of Lara Croft, keeping the character's essence while giving her a more “comic book” look.

Here is the first rendering test (in the setting of the previous video). I wanted to know your opinion on the style and if you'd be interested in seeing videos in this style? It would allow me to be more exaggerated in the animations and have a more “quirky” feel. In that case, I could plan to give this style to other characters I've already created, such as Tifa, Triss, Yennefer, Ciri...

And I would also like to use this style for a future game project (it's the style I originally wanted to use for the game “Lost Fantasy,” but with Unity URP it was difficult to achieve this kind of rendering; with HDRP and the right shader, it's already more acceptable).

Tell me what you think about it :)

In my opinion, you could alternate the two graphic styles. Your previous one is very well done

I like the stylized style though, i think the character body would look more attractive if it were softer though.

This is interesting, i like it but i won’t know how much i like it until you actually use it. I support it but i don’t think it’s necessarily better. Sometimes this and sometimes the previous, overall i still like previous more but idk how good the other is until seen in action.

Oooooh aiming for a more OG Lara. I dig it. It's difficult to fully judge the new style without seeing it in motion. I'm very interested to see what kind of exaggeration and quirkiness you're going to do here that couldn't have been done before

Yes, "Stellar Cell 7" has to be finished before I jump to another new project for sure! :)

In regards to Lara Croft, yeah I would love to see where you can take this artistic venture. If the present workflow is limiting, I would like to see what you can do with one where you can cut loose more. Would love to see it in motion before I make a full judgment. Love like to see the Stellar game finished, before a return to the fantasy game.

The nose and lips look good. I think the eyes could use some depth.

If I have to choose, I prefer your past, realistic, glamorous female characters, which you render with such a mastery. That said, the face of this cartoon-like 'Lara Croft' is cute, and it may prove interesting to see such a character in a game (rather than in a video), but, as to its current design, I confess I'm not too fond of the muscular shape of this character, its long, massive legs, or the relative 'modesty' of its breasts (after all, it's 'Lara Croft' we're talking about and the 'raison d'être' of a cartoon character is to show exagerated proportions, so I wouldn't be offended by a bosom doubled in volume compared to the current one). So, as others have said here, you have a free-hand on experimenting new paths for your work, but, as you courteously asked us our opinion, I preferred expressing my own sincere feelings on the topic. Of course, that's only my opinion and I may be wrong. Have a nice week in any event !

I prefer the original style, it's a little bit strange after the movies. But can be good/useful for more funny/cartoonish stories. Not a bad idea, just polish it. Maybe leave the current girls in the original style and build a different roster with girls from cartoons (e.g. April O'Neil or Janine from Ghostbusters), so you have two different world and they can encounter with cartoonish monsters. A slimmer waist, a slightly smaller hands and a little bigger, longer face will be good.

Personally I prefer the more realistic looking models, but you should always pursue your own creative ambitions. You are one of the best in the business and keep improving your videos with each release, so I say go for it. I'm happy to support you either way.

Might be good, hard to tell based on this alone. Maybe do a short scene as a test run?
