Quick notes! We're publishing again, camping trip, etc

Hey everyone!

Someone pointed out that folks who downgraded to the free tier during the hiatus might not be getting notified that chapters are posting again, so here’s your official heads-up: we're back! I'm posting new chapters twice a week again.

Also, all Patreon tiers are staying at $1/month until Book 3 is finished. So many of you supported me during the hiatus, and this just felt like a small way to show my gratitude.

This week, I'll be up in Grand Lake, Colorado from Wednesday to Friday, and I have no idea what the internet situation will be like. I could schedule posts, but knowing my luck, I’d post a chapter with a glaring mistake and not be able to fix it for days...

So instead, I’m just posting early this week:

Tuesday’s chapter is already up, and Thursday’s chapter should be up tomorrow.

That does mean there’ll be a longer wait for next week’s chapters, unless you’re the rare breed with enough self-control to delay reading, haha.

Thanks again for sticking with me!

In my case it isn't self control but self preservation! I think of it as being starving hungry. If I consume a single chapter as soon as it is availale then it is just a single mouthfull leaving me even hungrier than before. If however I restrain myself until there are 3-4 available then I get a full blown meal and can rest, relax and wait while the next meal is prepared. Regarding not putting the revised story on RR/Patreon I fully understand and agree with you. At the end of the day this is how you make a living and as I've said before I want you able to concentrate on writing rather than getting stressed about how you are going to feed your family. Of course my ideal would be getting to read the revised story line right now but I shall wait until it is published (although I wish it wasn't on Amazon as I am not a fan of that particular company). Now go enjoy the family time 😂

Hey! I totally get wanting to do a fresh read before jumping back in. So… the short version (before I unleash the wall of text I can feel coming) is: the revised chapters will only be available on Amazon. Now for the longer explanation: The revisions ended up being more extensive than I originally planned—especially around the Riverwell → Black Forest arc. Some events (like the carapax bug scene) now happen at different points in the story, and Book 1 now ends with the group arriving at Thrask instead of wrapping at the end of Beastden. That meant reworking the infested ruins, writing new scenes, a totally new climax, and restructuring the pacing in that whole middle stretch. Because of all that, it’s not a clean 1:1 replacement. I’d either have to delete all the original chapters and repost the new version—losing the comments and community that built around it—or have two different versions posted side by side, which would just be confusing. From the publisher’s perspective (and honestly, mine too), the hope is that keeping the revised version exclusive to Amazon gives the book the best shot at a strong launch. That first week on Amazon is a huge part of how well a book does long-term, so having something fresh to offer there might help boost visibility. And last bit of context—I spent around 4–6 months working on these revisions, which was almost as long as it took to write the original. So while I know it’s not ideal to keep them off Patreon/RR, I’m hoping it makes sense in the context of how much work went into it and what we’re trying to build for the launch. Sorry, I always feel like I need to give a super lengthy explanation when this topic comes up. I have trouble balancing my understanding of what's best for the book's launch on Amazon, which is what's best for me and the series long term, and what I *want* to do, which is immediately share the revisions everywhere because I think they turned out great, haha. I hope that all makes some sense, though.

Hey, what's the status of the revised chapters being released? Are they going up here on Patreon or RR, or just the Kindle books? I've decided I want a fresh read starting from the beginning before proceeding with new chapters.
