Changing Restrictions
Added 2023-11-27 04:22:33 +0000 UTCHey Patrons, I value all your input and want to make sure our polls aligns with most of your preferences. That being said, I’m considering reverting back the character cooldown/restriction within our polls from 4 months to 2 months. I feel like this is a fair suggestion considering we have the 2 week rule that will still continue to provide diverse winners from the many different series being nominated in our polls.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Do many of you agree or disagree with reverting back to just waiting for 2 months to nominate a character again? Or should it remain at four or do you have another duration in mind like 3 months?
Your feedback at this topic will help me make informed decisions, thank you.

2023-11-30 07:32:27 +0000 UTCEunie won twice and given that characters tend to win when they're new and from a popular game, I have a hard time believing that she somehow would have never won if Tiki was on the poll slightly more frequently. Sena winning in the loser's bracket is just more proof that Xenoblade girls will win, and the loser's bracket has nothing to do with the four month restriction. Older FE games aren't as hot as newer ones, that was my point. Older FE games also aren't as hot as new animes or other Nintendo IPs. The problem isn't Fire Emblem itself. Awakening and 3H characters still having some staying power is proof their appeal is actually organic and not just hype and I don't see why that should be arbitrarily punished. A Genealogy remake would also probably have a few characters win because it would be new and there would be cross promotion with the gacha, which is fundamentally what most people actually seem to care about. Characters never having a chance to win a poll sucks, I'm pretty sure that's why Dannex has so many Pokemon Conquest commissions. I also think it's obvious that some character suggestions will never win a poll if it's open to a wide enough audience, and gauging a poll around its worse performers goes against the point of polling. I still say the worst problems can be fixed if the FE characters were just given their own bi-monthly poll.

2023-11-28 03:43:46 +0000 UTCEunie would never have won and neither would any of the Xenoblade 3 girls. Sena had to win in the loser's bracket devoid of anything Fire Emblem because they're always in the winner's bracket. Melia hasn't won at all and she's been on the poll a lot and then gets knocked off. Older FE games aren't popular compared to 3H. Awakening had won a lot when Danny first started. Its why Tiki has so many. But recency doesn't mean much especially in Heroes. Outside of Brave Erika and Freyja, no one from Heroes has actually won in their new alt outside of Lysithea and Adult Tiki (and Ivy). Every Heroes character ends up being commissioned. Tellius always ends up commissioned too (but IDK why people would think putting Micaiah on the poll would end well.) Engage got their few months and now it has already lost steam. If Geneology has a remake, no one from that game is going to win because its an older game. Characters stuck on the poll for months being forced to be commissioned doesn't sound great especially when FE will literally dominate. It's not even just Lysithea. Hilda, Marianne and Bernie also win the polls when they are requested again.

2023-11-28 01:42:52 +0000 UTCMythra and Pyra won multiple times before the four month restriction and I'm pretty sure Eunie would have still won twice without it. If you want to talk FE girls, I'll use Mia as an example. Mia is a very popular character with old FE fans, and I've suggested her about four or five times. Despite this she has never won a single poll and I don't think even stayed up longer than two polls, because she isn't from a new game. It was the same with Eirika until she coincidentally got an alt in Heroes. The problem isn't that Fire Emblem benefits from a two month wait, it's that most people don't seem interested in voting for something that isn't recent.

2023-11-28 00:24:47 +0000 UTCXenoblade girls never had a chance until this change. Only fire emblem benefits from a two month wait. And it adds up very quickly like with Lysithea and any of the golden deer girls not Leonie.

2023-11-27 18:25:34 +0000 UTCYeah the fourth month restriction seems more aimed at people who like Lysithea and Tiki than anything else.

2023-11-27 15:37:24 +0000 UTCI disagree on your last point. If you look over the comms most of them are of characters that would never win a poll, and four months of wait time hasn't improved their chances.

2023-11-27 14:30:22 +0000 UTCDisagree, because I feel like the 4 month cooldown contributed to having more diverse winners (even within a series). There are too many staple girls here which would fill up every two-month-duration and that's just boring.

2023-11-27 12:21:48 +0000 UTCDisagree because it allows 3 Houses to gain dominance again. Nobody wants to waste their pick on a guarantee character and then they can just keep asking. When they show up on the poll, they will almost always win. This also applies to Pokémon. Plus variety in the girls instead of the same ones who win because the patrons with more money can make it rather lobsided

2023-11-27 07:21:25 +0000 UTCI would like the wait time to go back to 2 months, I don’t think there are enough usual suspects that are nominated as soon as their wait is up (Lysithea notwithstanding) to merit 4 months of wait time. Comms provide enough variety generally

2023-11-27 06:08:02 +0000 UTCI disagree because even if it takes a while for a character to return, the variety of characters from different series keeps things fresh, instead of one character repeatedly being nominated.
