Waifu Showdown 0.2.1 Update
Added 2025-03-01 00:16:34 +0000 UTCHello everyone, the new update for Waifu Showdown is here at the last moments of winter, well, at least March 1st is not a global thing yet, so technically speaking I did not skip the update for this month. Anyways, the new update, did I manage to make every single announced feature work fine and as intended? Not at all and lets start with sad news.
Better Combat System (Delayed)
The main feature of this this update which included transition animations, more features for the gameplay seemed manageable at first, also gave me a hard reality check on how complex it actually is. Currently all the animations I made for the new system turned out to be only a half of the amount that is necessary to release the system. At some point I will learn to stop being overconfident and not to announce things I am not able to deliver on time.
My apologies to all of you for promising and not delivering this feature on time. Too bad that only failure is so effective in teaching me responsibility.
Alright, enough sad news! It's finally time to meet the new additions!
New Characters
To be honest all the new features could be better, but unfortunately I spent too much time working on new additions for the combat system. But at least they work, nevertheless. Even though I did not manage to create a proper UI for the character select menu, you can change your character's and opponent's appearence by using C and X keys respectfully, also you can use an N key to get rid of bikinis.
Better Camera
Now with more functions like moving around with WASD keys, looking around by holding RMB and with a zoom by using a scroll wheel.
New Animations
Even if the new combat system is not here, nothing stops me from using certain parts of it and make them work. One of the old animations has been updated, and a new animation was added, use keys 1-6 during a match to check them out.
And this is it for the February update, once again, my genuine apologies for underdelivering promised features, THANK YOU for you countinious and precious support and wait for a soon to be released hotfix for the known issues brought by the update. Back to work!
