This whole revel was figured out completely by a fan before the reveal and Alex Hirsch got the majority of fans to not believe it cause he posted a pic of young McGucket with 6 fingers let it gain traction then deleted it on an account he also deleted. He did this just before the blind eye episode. Honestly I think it's the best approach to someone guessing your big reveal, don't panic and change it like some big companies do, throw out a hoax to keep the integrity of the twist.
