scra and co sneaking with hon/sparrows/warden/guards in tow.

ree to ky: so like, what the flock was all that about Eagle blood??

scra: ky’s ¼ Eagle hybrid. He told me when he also told me the Director’s mother is his grandmother.

ree: Ky what the fuck. we were done with secrets

K: that’s the last of them, I swear.

R: “s’all muscle” my ass

scra: that’s what I said,.

Ree to farrah: and YOU - Lila?? Leader of the Sparrows??? 

F: I told you, I have unfinished business here. 

R: am i the only one without some torrid deep dark secret?!

S: i mean, you’re some kind of noble and never mentioned it

R: yeah, but like in a boring way. 

kar: Lila, a word.

farrah: fill me in.

(the two walk ahead, heads together, leaving the others.)

ree (watches them sadly, turns to the boys with a fake smile): wives with careers, amiright?

scra:...right…(looks at ky uncertainly).

ky (looks back at his gdad the guards are escorting)

scra: go. You might not get another chance.

(Ky sets mouth in a grim line and drops back to walk alongside gdad who is gagged. gdad raises sarcastic eyebrow)

K: no, I’m not going to tear into you now just because you can’t respond. I don’t care what you have to say about anything other than this - Tell me where Keelee is. I know you’ve kept track of her, you’d never let something you thought you owned get away from you. Where is she. (gdad ignores him. ky grits his teeth.) You met us on the pretense that you had her, even if you were faking your identity. You know she’s missing. I know you wouldn’t have something that could jeopardize your new life here running around unchecked. You’re too much of a control freak. Where is she? (gdad ignores him. Ky loses it, grabbing him) WHERE IS SHE -

Scra (gently holds ky’s sleeve. Everyone has stopped to watch.) [softly]: Ky. 

(Ky deflates, quickly letting go. Gdad looks at him with contempt. Ky turns and walks to the front of the group, not looking back. Scra follows. Is about to say something when Hon glances up)

S: Ky, you -

Hon: Twik! 

(Twik lands, looking worse for wear. Sparrows relax. Scra breaks into a smile).

Twik: Scra! Buddy! I reckoned you were dead! No one’s seen ya since that disaster wedding. 

S: I’ve been…off the Island for a bit.

T: I’ve heard some people have been jumpin’ ship. You’ll have to fill me in later. (To Hon) The Corvids are gettin’ rowdy, won’t be long until Reik whips them into a frenzy, looks like their big Anniversary event showdown is a-go. 

S: Corvids did this to you??

T: oh, they’re just gettin’ a bit over-excited. Anyway, I have to get back. (to Hon) I’ll try report back in a few night’s time with more news, before it all kicks off. (to Scra) it’s good to see you, friend. 

S: Twik -

(twik flies off, saluting. the group have entered Sparrow territory.)

Kar: In here, quick. (holds door open for farrah)

(a Sparrow salutes Farrah as they enter, and whispers something to her. Her eyes widen)

F: Well, it seems we have guests. Although not faces I cared to see again.

(all enter office where Tiraa, Neekia, Del Lulu and Rhaast are waiting. Scra balks when he sees Del. Del doesn’t meet his eye, mouth tight. Rhaast watches)

Scra: Neekia!

N: Hey, brat. Seems like you’ve been having all the fun without me. 

Ree to Tiraa: What are you doing here?? With them?? 

T: oh, I, er, joined the Resistance.

N: More than joined, she’s basically the poster child for it now.

T: Not willingly -

farrah: enough. Why are you here? It’s breaking treaty for Resistance to enter Sparrow territory. Explain yourselves.

Tiraa: You’re…the Sparrow from The Roost last year. The one that went missing. 

Ree: Her name is -

Farrah: My name is Lila. 

T: …Right. Well, the Resistance is working with the Sparrows, so -

F: working with, and allowing into our territory without permission are two different things. 

N: we have permission, from - (gestures to Kar)

F: Kar was de-facto leader while I was away. I am now back, and any agreements you had with him I will reassess. Now, why are you here?

T: We saw footage of the Warden of the Southmarsh Correctional Facility staging a set up for you all. We were deployed as recon but were intercepted by a Sparrow squad who informed us they had everything handled, and were invited to wait here for you.

Kar: Thanks for the help, but we didn’t need you.

Neekia: evidently.

Ky: Why did the Resistance send you to help us?

Neekia: Oh, they’re very interested in the welfare of the missing King of Avarie. (looks at Scra)

Scra: Neekia -

farrah: Well, you can inform your leadership that he is under Sparrow protection, and will remain so. 

Ree: Farrah, that’s not the -

Farrah: I’ve been briefed on what their plans are, and there is no way they’ll succeed as they are now. I will meet with them, and see if something can be finalized that will work for all parties and actually has a chance of succeeding. In the meantime, the Resistance is not to lay a finger on Scra. 

S: I think I can -

F: (seriously) they will use you, to any end. There is a way to go about this without that happening, I’m sure of it. I will make sure of it. 

Ky, bristling, Scra looks down. Del looks at Scra. 

Ree to Tiraa: Tiraa. Did you ever see Keelee again, after Scra helped get her from the Director’s house during your wedding?

T (shocked, then looks at Ky and softens): I did. Cyras was…banished from the Murder after Del shot him. They wanted nothing to do with Keelee, so I took them both on the run with me. We got her to the Resistance. She’s there, now. Waiting for her brother. 

Ky:...she…she’s…

Scra: we’re coming with you, to the Resistance. It was our plan to, anyway. We were meant to be meeting with Cyras to get Keelee, but it turned out it was just the Warden with Cyras’ phone. Is he…

T (looks away): He’s been… captured. The Resistance have not made his rescue a priority.

S: (looks at Hon) we heard. (looks at Farrah, eyebrow raised) perhaps we…

farrah nods: We have heard the Corvids are making plans. Ones that may be a detriment to the Resistance’s plans. We all know there is only one Avian capable of restoring order to them. The Government would not be open to a trade, but perhaps we can offer the Resistance something of value in exchange for help in his rescue?

Neekia: What do you have that the Resistance would want so badly?

Farrah steps aside as Sparrows bring the Warden into the office.

Farrah: Intel, from inside the Government itself. 

The four of them arrive in the Resistance tunnels, Ky storming ahead. People staring at them, spitting at the Warden. Sparrow guards keep them back.

Neekia: You should meet with -

Ky: Take me to her, now.

N: but -

Tiraa: Come on. I know she wants to see you just as badly. 

walking down the tunnels, Ky high energy.

T: - she can glide a bit, but we were working on her take-offs before we went underground. She can swim a bit, too, although -

cici: Miss Tiraa! I’ve looked everywhere - I don’t know - how did she -

T: Cici calm down, what’s going on?

Cici: It’s Keelee, she’s gone.

(Enter the cave she shares with tiraa. it’s empty, save for a pot of hair dye and cut off hair. Ky picks it up, face hidden.)

tiraa (picks up hair): she…kept changing her hairstyles, to copy mine. I…(snaps out of it) I’m assembling a squad. We’re going to find her. Ky, I’m so - (turns to leave) We’re going to find her. We’re going to find her.

(Ky, alone in the room, collapses to his knees. He leans over the bed, inhaling. Scra watches from the doorway.

K: …I was so close…I was so close…and now I’ve lost you…again…
