TC Novel Update

Just a lil update on the progress of the novel I've been slaving over for half a year now. I've had such a mental block about it where I would start outlining and the sheer SCOPE of plot I would need to get through would become so daunting I had to take a break from it. This cycle is obviously not conducive to actually getting a book written, so I've had to rethink my approach to it entirely. This morning I think I had a breakthrough.

There were many parts of the comic that I simply just had no interest in writing again - I'm not interested in school settings, the whole AC team was a fun sports arc but not essential, some of the plot arcs needed to be refined but getting rid of some things made other character arcs fall apart etc. It was all circling back to me wanting to write the novel, but also needing to stay interested in writing it and not dread having to get through parts because I knew if I didn't enjoy writing them, y'all probably wouldn't enjoy reading them either.

Instead, I'm going to do a looser adaption, focusing more on the soft worldbuilding and character development/relationships and dial the plotlines back a bit to something that's also easier to follow in a book (otherwise the POV's would just be jumping all over the place and it would get too confusing also.) The main themes will still be there but it'll be darker, making the moments between the boys even sweeter.

I'm getting rid of the Roost. There will be mentions of it, but they won't be attending it. The boys will still be roommates don't worry, but they'll all be aged up a bit and I'd skew more towards a New Adult rating so we get some Spice, but also have some heavier adult topics. It'll still have the same characters and character arcs, but will hopefully be a more solid adaption and a different entity to the comic. The vibe will be more desert retropunk (if that makes sense ha) and the theme song for the book will just be Empire Now by Hozier lmao.

It'll be more of a reworking than a word-by-word adaption of the comic, but it'll hopefully still be fun for y'all to read if you choose to and want more deeper TC content. Let me know if you have any questions about it!
