scra + ky packing bags on the bed.

S: we’ve done a lot of stupid shit, but walking into this one knowing how stupid it is, is on an entirely different level of stupid, isnt it?

K: they havent exactly given us much choice in the matter, have they. I just wish your father at least would step forward to stop it. We’re obviously just walking into more trouble and you're his son, after all.

S: I…assume he must just think it’s the right thing to do. Or Gera managed to convince him of it, at least.

K: i dont know, it’s not like any of us have a particularly good track record with parents, anyway. but…(looks at scra) i can see you want to give him a chance, and I’ll support whatever you want.

S: youre still allowed to tell me when you think things are a bad idea

K: it doesnt matter if they are, you can do what you want and I’ll rescue you if it goes tits-up.

S: Ky -

(farrah peak her head round the door)

F: are you two ready? Transport’s outside

S: transport…? (k unamused)

(outside, two cars wait, tires converted to snowmobile skis. crowd of ravens to see them off, gera and daelen talking to the side, erias standing arms crossed)

(others approach ree) r: would you get a load of this nonsense. they know we can fly, right?

K: it’s like they want us to be seen and reported to the Council immediately

F: im sure thats the point. what a circus.

r: let’s just get in, it’s cold.

(others walk to cars, someone grabs scras arm.)

s: what -

crow maid: don’t trust any of them, boy. your mother realised too late what they are, what they wanted from her. I disarmed the projectiles for her while she escaped with you, i had to beg her to leave me, we both knew it was no place for you, here.

s: what do you -

CM: i wasn’t being poetic when i said your parents were made for each other.

scra: why -

CM: he will stop at nothing to get her back. and he will not let go of you now, either. watch yourself. run when you get a chance. find your mother. tell her i think of her, every day. (stares at his eyes) you…have her eyes. it’s good to see them (starts walking away)

s: wait -

CM: run, and do not look back.

s: wait - (grabs her) come with us

CM: i - what -

s: you want to leave? see your family again?

CM: it has been…too many years -

s: come on.

(pulls her towards gera who furrows her brow).

S: Lassak wishes to come, also.

G: we do not have the room -

dealen: we have room, gera.

g: she knows too much about our lives here -

d: we have largely kept her out of it all, as per the Conspiracy’s orders as part of her punishment for her actions. she knows nothing. it will be good to be rid of her. (looks at her with hate).

 (gera looks between daelen and scra, back to daelen.)

g: fine.

(crow guard): defences are down

g: everyone in. we’re leaving.

(cars driving down special tunnels. outside. across The Scarr. Dawn breaking.)

(the four in the back of a car, erias in front next to driver. ree hand on chin looking out window)

r: this is taking way longer than flying

F: im going to vomit

S: gera was talking like she was eager to confront the Council asap, it’ll take a month to get to Sky City like this.

K: she won’t want to seem desperate. people will see us traveling and news will spread faster than we’ll be moving, and when we arrive the council will have come to the conclusion that it’s in their best interest to play nice.

R: how’d you figure that?

K: the guards flanking us are all carrying semi automatic rifles. the rest of avarie are still using blades. The Raven Army has always been feared, it’s why the Crow Kings used them as the Royal Guard. People will not have forgotten. And if they have, the guns will be a quick reminder.

(joining rudimentary road through forest on other side of Scarr, cereea watches from the trees.)

(cars pulling into a village. people sticking heads out of houses, gathering in a crowd. get out of cars, crowd flinches back when sees ravens)

gera to scra + co: the advance guard have secured us lodgings for the night. you will eat in your rooms, and we will continue in the morning.

s: i can eat in the dining -

G: no. you will not leave your room, and there will be a rotation of guards outside your doors at all times.

(village elder appears)

VE: what is the meaning of this? Raven’s and their machinery are not permitted past the border as per the law -

G: we are escorting the Crow King to claim his birthright, i suggest you do not get in our way.

(raven guard moves gun subtly)

VE: c-crow king?! but - how - i demand -

g: send a messenger to the nearest Redguard outpost and tell them they will grant us safe passage to the capitol. in the meantime, it has been a long day and we will be resting here.

( VE left speechless. daelen pats scra on the shoulder as they all move inside inn)

d: the rest of avarie might just take a bit to warm up to you, is all. we dont want to risk anything.

s: i dont want any of this, this is ridiculous.

d: i know. I’ll see about getting the guard numbers reduced for you, gera’s not infallible.

s:...thanks, father.

(walk away with others. daelen grabs ky’s arm)

d: you will guard him with your life.

K: (sneers) i have been watching his back for longer than you’ve even known him.

d: he will need that loyalty now more than ever.

K: you dont have the right to demand that of me. I’ll give him anything, even my measly life. ive already committed myself to him, i will never betray him again.

(ky sitting up in bed as scra sleeps next to him. his hands on his sword, which glints in the moonlight)

Everyone can just smell that protector complex on ky and love to exploit it dont they
