TC Ep 256 Script

256

cici, neekia, tiraa and keelee in an underground cave (the res had to evacuate their hq in case they got the location out of cyras, moved underground into tunnels)

cici (comforting tiraa): there, there chick, that Crow is a tough lad.

T: how tough you are doesn't matter if you’re being tortured

C: i’m sure he’s not -

N: oh, he’s definitely being tortured. why d’you think the entire res moved underground the second he was captured? Cyras can withstand a lot, but it’s not always our physical weaknesses that betray us (look pointedly at tiree+keelee).

T: please tell me they went public in their little broadcast as part of the plan to rescue him.

N: there is no plan to rescue him, Princess. retrieval is impossible. wherever they’ve got him is gonna be secured tighter than that bleached little asshole of yours -

T: excuse me -

N: Cyras knows the things at play here are bigger than him, and he accepts it. Making sure he got us out of the prison was the least he could do after betraying us like he did -

T: he didn’t have to do shit, he should’ve left you all there to rot. I told him you weren’t his responsibility anymore, but he wouldn’t fucking listen. look where it got him. and none of you are even grateful -

N: That’s rich - You were the reason we were even at your wedding in the first place! If we hadn’t been, we wouldn’t have been caught - and we would all still be -

T: YOU brought me to him! - you KNEW we would be making some kind of deal - if you didn’t want us working together you shouldn’t have -

N: Working together?! you did nothing but USE him - typical Eagle -

T: it was mutually -

N: HOW did it benefit him in ANY way?! He didn’t need you. He just wanted you.

T: …what -

C: a-alright girls that’s enough. let’s all head to the dining cave and -

(KL’s fake dad peaks his head around the side of the tunnel)

T: oh for - I told you she doesn’t want to see you! get the fuck out before i -

(stops as KL touches her arm.)

KL: (to cici) i want a cookie, cici.

C: (takes hand) I’m sure we’ll be able to find something in the ration cupboards (walk in opposite direction down tunnel out of sight. tiraa left seething, neekia leaning against wall.)

Garrek emerges: you can’t keep me from my daughter forever, you know.

T: She’s not even yours from what I’m told. And from what else I’ve been told, and seen, she’ll never have anything to do with you again.

G: unless she wants to. You can’t stop her.

T: no. i can’t. but i can keep you away for as long as she wants it. go, before i file another appeal to get you thrown out of here.

G: oh, you won’t be able to get rid of me. I’ve got too much valuable information. I’m more important than the likes of you here, Eagle. (walks away)

N: We could just kill him, you know. lots of places to dump a body in these tunnels.

T: Tempting…how many of your Murder ended up staying?

N: all of us. Cyras may have hurt us, but that level of loyalty is hard to throw away it seems.

T: What did Deacon tell leadership, about the Crow King?

N: (exhales) a secret Cyras made him keep. Did you ever meet a Crow at The Roost?

T: lanky, long hair, always with a kestrel and Osprey glued to his side?

N: you wondered why he was there, right? Turns out Cyras had made a deal with the Director to keep him there, safe and away from the City for a bit. He’d do his little school work during the day, and at night he’d come and do Murder stuff with us. Just small-time shit, like tailing Magpies, keeping them in line. grunt work really, way below Deacon and I’s station. I didn’t question Cyras’s orders when he specifically told the two of us to watch Scra. I’d grown up with him, I loved him and was happy to do it. Deacon did question him. Turns out there was a reason Scra got special treatment. We were told to treat him as any other fledgling, when we were really training royalty. The orphan I’d abandoned as kids ended up being the missing next in line to the throne on a continent I’d been told was destroyed. Go figure.

T: why tell the entire Island about it? Surely that puts a target on his back.

N: They know he’s off-Island, those Snakebirds saw him off. He’s safe so long as he stays away, and the Government gets led on a wild Goose chase.  C’mon, I came to get you because we’ve been summoned, seems like they’ve got some kinda mission for us.

T: Finally. I’m sick of sitting around, waiting.

(walk down tunnels, t thinking)

T: why would it matter to the Government if there was a king? Surely they wouldn't think people would just start following him instead all of a sudden? Especially when he’s a Crow?

N: I think it’s to sew doubt, honestly. As soon as the population starts second-guessing those making the rules, the rulemakers lose all power. And then yeah, some will start looking for answers elsewhere. no, they won’t blindly follow a Resistance. But maybe they’ll consider royalty.

Tiraa+Neekia are such a dreamteam honestly

It's "to sow doubt", like sowing seeds. Little devious seeds of doubt....

Mari

While Neekia has a point about Cyrus just wanting Tiraa (can't blame him xD), she's also got a point about the crows and their flimsy loyalty.
