Scra opens eyes. sees bed empty. frowns. looks up as ky enters, shirtless, carrying two mugs

K: sorry to wake you

S: you didn’t. it would be nice if you were here when i did for once, though.

K: ha, sorry, it’s cold in here so i figured you’d want this first

S: (snuggles into ky’s side as he gets back in bed) please, your bodies like a furnace, as long as you’re here I’m good. any news from cyras?

K: no. but if he said he had keelee just after the wedding, then that’s a start at least.

S: we’ll start heading back there, hopefully by then he’ll have messaged back confirming location. 

K: you…don’t have to come, Scra. She’s my responsibility, and you’ve found your dad here -

S: wherever you go, I’m going. 

K: (blushes, looks away) i’ve…been thinking about it a lot. about what you said last night. 

S: (blushes) o-oh?

K: are you…sure? that you feel that way? about me?

S: ky, that’s not really something i’d say to someone if I’m not sure. if im honest, im pretty sure ive never said it to anyone, before.

K: and it’s…ok…that it’s me?

S: i want it to be you, idiot. 

(Ky drags hand across face to hide blush)

K: if you keep talking like that, i might actually start believing you

S: and why is it so unbelievable??

K: because you’re so - kind and real and strong and hot and i’m just - 

S: ky you’re literally the kindest person i know, (climbs on top of him)  even when you were lying to me you still tried to do it in a way that didn’t harm me. i’ve never met anyone as strong as you. and honestly, you’re so hot, sometimes it hurts to look at you. especially like this, shirtless and rumpled from sleep. back at the roost, sometimes i would wake first and just stare at you. i couldnt help myself.

K: (swallows) y-you -

S:  will you lie to me again?

K: never

S: do you want this? us?

K: i dont deserve - (scra covers mouth)

s: do you want me?

K:...yes. 

(kiss. it starts to get steamy)

(ree barges in) R: KY I TOLD YOU TO MEET US AT THE - oh hooooo what’s going on heeerreeee -

ky: ree!

S: ree for fuck’s -

R: don’t mind me, I’ll just be out here, waiting for y’all to be finished to show you something important.

(leaves. scra raises eyebrow at ky)

K: …i may have run into her while getting tea and it may have all slipped my mind somehow (looks at scras lips) 

S: (snorts) get up. sounds like we’ve been summoned. 

(scra and ky entering a room with ree, farrah, daelen and gera)

S: is there news?

F: worse. there’s live footage. 

show them phone with a newsfeed showing clips from the cameras at the prison during the breakout, as well as footage from reamer/tiraas wedding of the crows swarming, sparrows attacking guards on the streets, strawberry boy leading a group of one-winged people in an attack on a town with farming equipment

.F: it looks like there was a prison break. the government’s trying to cover it up, but it’s getting shared too quickly and it’s started other uprisings across the island. i think cyras’s Murder got out. I think…the Resistance helped them -

R: you mentioned the Resistance before -

S: there’s a Resistance now?? since when -

the phone feed is interrupted by Tarrok’s face. 

T: attention, Kooup. The spreading of lies and misinformation is over. 

T: Too long have you all been kept in the dark by your government to keep you quiet and complacent.

(show del, cici, lulu, rhaast, perig, brek and major in background watching. tiraa, neekia and KL(with scarf) sad in background)

T: too long has the corruption and inequality been allowed to fester

T: too long, has the government been allowed to lie to you all.

(show him recording with cepni, lars and lars mom in a tunnel. brek dad steps forward)

Brekdad: too long, have you allowed yourself to believe them. The rest of the world was never destroyed. Avarie still exists. the Resistance is recruiting. 

(screen goes black. silence)

F: the gov managed to cut the feed. 

G: not until after it did the damage it needed. 

K: was that the old chief commissioner

F: I’m surprised. the Resistance was always adamant they’d never interfere with civilian life on Kooup on a large scale. What changed?

R: Maybe they wanted to use the prison break as some kind of inciting incident?

F: for what, though? why choose now to reveal themselves and start shit?

S: something must’ve happened during it. maybe theyre hoping to use the resulting civil unrest from this news as a distraction? 

F: for what, though?

s: either way, we have to go back for -

g: you will not be leaving.

(all look at gera)

S: it’s been confirmed where ky’s sister is, we have to -

G: they can go. you will not be.

r: what the fuck does -

D: if you are my son, that means you’re her heir. Your mother is next in line to the throne. the last Crow Queen. which means you’re never stepping off this continent again. 

Cyras restrained off camera as guards beat him. His red phone sits on a table. it lights up to show a message from scra.

phone: [from scra] I’m with Keelee’s brother. Do you still have her?

(ky’s gfather looks down at it) Keelee…hm? 

What do we think?? I wanted the heir reveal before the end of the season so we can go into the final one with Scra actually knowing who he is and discovering what it means. I'm just hoping the pacing of his confession last ep and this doesn't feel too rushed? I wanted the confession to happen, the two of them be on some kind of equal footing, before this curve ball hits and throws them into a new dynamic that they'll have to navigate next season (one day they'll get a break I promise ha). Also been holding on to the cyras/gfather/phone scene for ages, really wanted to make sure that lined up properly so the devastation hits haha, Ky was so close to getting KL back man.
