I appreciate the clarification! I meant he wasn't involved in the story etc. but he did have a touch of creative oversight, especially with character design.

This is both right and wrong, he wasn't deeply involved in a lot of the movies but he did do character designs for them like He designed Cooler and his Squad, lord slug, The tree of Might, and Dr Wheelo and a few more movie villains Alex hasn't gotten to yet that I don't want to mention and spoil.

Namekians can stretch their arms and change their size. I think Akira Toriyama forgot for 20 years, because for the longest time the abilities only showed up in the movies.

Ultimately, the movies can't fit into the canon for the show because of which characters are present. For TFS, they treated it as if it's an alternate (but similar) reality to the show. Each of TFS's movies are supposed to be in this alternate reality, so they'll occasionally make references to each other.
