ky on bed, looking a jar.

S comes in, hair wet

S: im convinced ree used the last of the hot water in the entire place.

K: I told you to get in there before her. Farrah’s getting food with the ashguard?

S: yeah

s pauses, looking at ky look at the jar

S:...i can do it. if you want help.

K: (exhales) it just…feels like id be giving up. on her. on keelee. and…hiding. from what ive done. from who i am. lying.

S: maybe just…think of this as a way to help keelee better? you’d do anything to save her, right? saving her would be easier if you were anonymous. that shop keeper recognized you instantly. what would have happened if those Redguard who came had also seen you? the shop keeper probably told them about you too, so you’re not even safe just staying here, really.

K: i could get us all captured for my selfish, self-imposed propriety.

S: sometimes…we’ve gotta do what we’ve gotta do (flashback to ep 81)

s looks away.K looks at scars healed wing. ky’s hand grips on jar harder.

K: yank them.

K: i dont need them to fly. theyll grow back faster. naturally.

S: but you can just dye -

K: it would just be another cover up to another lie. i want to…start over.

K: (looks at him)

S: exhales) …ok. move over a bit. (ky shifts, scra sits next to him on bed. s’s hand hovers over wing, uncertain) …this will hurt, are you sure you dont want to do it your -

K: id like you to do it. please. if…if you’re ok with it.

S: (determined) you might want to hold onto something.

K grips bedframe.

S: (exhales) here we go. (touches feather, ky shudders, eyes closing)

scra going downstairs to private room where others are eating.

R: those Redguard just came by looking for an un-uniformed Redguard. the innkeeper sent them packing, thankfully. How’s Ky’s new dye job?

S: (sits down) he…didnt want to dye them again. he got me to pluck them. he’s getting cleaned up now.

F: (eyes widened) all of them? thats…

S: he’ll be sore for a bit, but should still be able to fly.

C: (nods solemnly) he needed to do something about it, it wasnt good to hold on to the past like that. but it was also too dangerous. him being caught as a deserter directly opposes our goal of lying low until we reach Sky City.

S:...whats Sky City like?

C: )shugs, eating), City of Waterfalls, Capitol in the Clouds, there are many names for the center of our civilization. it is where The Council reside, and is widely considered the most beautiful destination on this continent. but you will see for yourself when we arrive.

S: how long -

R: which route are you planning to take?

C: straight across the Veridian Planes, resting where we can along the way.

S: are you ok? what -

R: im fine. it’s fine. im just…not looking forward to being out in the open like that.

C: it is the fastest route, and there is treecover and small villages along the way who will pay us no mind.

R: we’ll make do, im sure.

F reaches out hand on table to ree’s, but curls in and takes it back. scra sees.

S: are we staying here for a bit, then?

C: we will refresh ourselves and continue on, i dont want to take any chances. the High Crow has given me a modest purse but we will acquire rooms wherever we stop tonight, i dont think my back can take camping another night. gather yourselves, we leave in an hour.

r to s: will ky be alright, do you think?

S: i think so. i hope so. he has to be. weve got a long way to go.
