2024-02-21 15:52:22 +0000 UTCOne of the things I like about the Live Action is the attempt to keep changes consistent. In the Netflix adaptation Bellemere didn't have all that much personality and they portrayed her as kind of generic sweet mom. And Nami being slightly older when she met her, she had traits that were learned behavior beforehand (proclivity to steal and lie). In the anime, because Nami was so young, she picked up a LOT of Bellemere's traits. Her being much more flirtatious, clever, a jokester, etc. I prefer the original Nami, but I give the live action showrunners credit for attempting to make the changes make sense. They weren't always successful, which is unfortunate because Nami's backstory is one of the most tragic and heartfelt, but...it is what it is I guess! I'm glad you're getting to experience the anime version for the full picture.
