100% agree man. I thought it was good overall, same thought on the pacing and yea i never played the games either haha. So far, I would still go with the first series being better, but this of course has more seasons to flip the tables. Series 1 characters were just executed perfectly with writing, their relationships and tension amongst each other, and better pacing. Dracula was one of my favorites because they did a great job of humanizing him and being more complex than black and white.

I felt there were some pacing issues and the characters could have been fleshed out a bit more. I know there is a bunch of people complaining about character changes compared to the original source material, but I admit I never played the game so it’s a non-issue for me.
