T: I’m surprised she didn’t find out sooner, honestly. And I knew what her reaction would be when I did it.
R: why did you do it then? I get rebelling…but if you knew you would be in this much trouble for it…you could’ve just bought a wig or something.
T: I guess I wanted to…show my commitment to it.
R: show who?
T:…myself, I suppose. For all the use it did me.

Yes, it's important to stand up for yourself. But others must also react to honour violence and family abuse! And the punishment must be severe - it's an important signal from society that this kind of behavior is not wanted. No young person should ever be locked up because of how they dress/ware their hair, or forced into marriage for that matter.
