Heartstopper S3 E5 - Full Reaction

Comments

I heard Kit And Joe talk about that in an interview, and it took a couple of rewatches to figure out what scene it was.

Tova Griffel

Watching during the day this week only x

Gina Lipkin

My dog is Crystal, my two twin cats are Scooby (boy) and Daphne (girl), embrace and love yourself however and whoever you are xx

Gina Lipkin

Anyone else praying for a reaction this evening? 🤩

The way you described Tori as feeling things more than other people was just...a beautiful moment. Because she sees herself as numb. As an empath, I often feel very similar to Tori because I have to shut down a lot, but not because I don't feel things, but because I feel them too strongly. Idk that was just a really nice moment of seeing through the mask Tori wears. She's such an interesting character to me.

NovaX

You gotta love Alice and all the work she has done to make this show really representative ❤️

Kela87

Yeeeesss 🤣🤣 My personal favourite was Kit saying "We did about 7 hours straight of just shagging, it was pretty fun", and Joe going "I'm glad you enjoyed it, babe" 🤣🤣

Kela87

I also love the word sapphic. I think it'd be wonderful if schools used Heartstopper as a teaching tool for mental health, sexuality, queer acceptance , etc. There's so much to learn from this incredible show!!

Yasmin Khoshnood

Kizzy (Darcy) is going through a personal journey in real life. I read an interview where they said Alice slightly rewrote Darcy’s journey to make Kizzy more comfortable in the role.

Christy Garrett

So I really need to know. What's with these red rooms on the other side of your street? :-D

Maria Rausch

going to be a pain, but the lack of gravy is more than likely a continuity decision by props. can't be bothered to reset the plate when gravy is so moveable. lol

Mads

Your link to pop'n'olly Was awesome love the stuff I can share with young people as an educator and teacher

indigo

Yes! Please review the new Doctor Who series. 🙏🏻

VV

Yeah, that's right :)

Jade Coulthurst

I didn't read the comics... but wasn't Oliver their little brother and not a cousin?

VV

Same here :) something to look forward to tonight! 🤩

Kela87

I burst out laughing at SHABLAM 😂😂😂😂

Reem

Their comment at the start about sneezing made me Google and what do you know it’s somewhat true! ACHOO 🤧 Syndrome. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK109193/

Reem

The rant about David was absolutely understandable. Also, the „more grown up language“ part. Because what Alex said was exactly their reason behind it. They where saying it’s only suitable for the characters that their language grows up with them and that it seems more realistic that they are using swear words. And besides…who’s better to cuss at than David, right?!

Frances

I look at a bright light to pull the sneeze out of me. It works every time. I think because it scrunches up my nasal passages when I squint.

Sex education in the States is terrible. Most red states still have abstinence-only "sex education," so not sex ed - just shaming anyone who even thinks about sex. And for those of us who are a little older, there was just no education around sexuality, in general. I'm just now figuring out that I'm (maybe) demisexual, which I didn't even know was a thing until about a year ago. But it explains so much about why this was all so confusing and troubling to me when I was younger. This show does such a great job representing both common teen experiences and the unique experiences of these queer teens, and I think it's so important and helpful, both for young people and oldies like me.

Lindsey Overstreet

All your silly innuendos reminded me of Joe and Kits press run, they were constantly saying inappropriate things and cracking each other up. My personal favorite when asked about Nick and Charlie finally having sex Kit said "it was a long time coming" and then both of them bursting out laughing 🤣

Zoe

Despite the fact that we’ve come a long way in the last few decades, sex education is still VERY much lacking when it comes to preparing kids adequately and especially when it comes to proper representation. My oldest is in 6th grade here in the US (Year 7 for you UK folks), and is just going to be starting the very early basics of puberty, reproductive health, and sex basics in his health class. The school system doesn’t really go into actual sex education until high school (like the ages of the kids in the show). And I know for a fact that our school district in particular doesn’t cover LGBTQ+ health/sex until high school; they don’t do it now, something that really really irks me, especially when my son’s school has an LGBTQ+ group for its students (could the administration be more hypocritical?) Despite all this, I still consider us on the luckier side, because in the US, sex educations varies GREATLY by state, or even by county or town. More conservative areas have much more restrictive sex education for their students, or only provide abstinence-only education, and their focus is certainly very cis/heteronormative. No surprise that these areas are usually the ones that have higher rates of teen pregnancies, STIs, violence against women, stigmatization against the LGBTQ+ community, book bans, etc. It’s a huge problem, and one that is a big focus in our upcoming election. However, I know that it certainly isn’t localized to the US, and this is a worldwide problem. We still have a long way to go, especially with bringing more representation and less stigmatization in sexual education

Charlie

That’s something to think about. **Some comments on S2 but also brief mentions of the comics below. Nothing too spoiler-y** At the very least, we got to see brief glimpses of almost everyone’s parents in S2 during the parent/teacher conferences in the second episode, but some of them, like Isaac’s mom, only had a few seconds on screen. We have yet to see anything else about his home life, and we haven’t seen anything of Imogen’s or Sahar’s, though I suppose some might consider them more peripheral to the others in the friend group (I don’t, but it depends on how you look at it). Perhaps we haven’t seen anything of these characters’ home lives yet because we really only got more expanded story lines for them in this third season. If we do get a fourth (should the Netflix gods bless us), then maybe Alice will have the opportunity to expand things a bit more, especially since Isaac and Imogen are show-specific characters to begin with, and Sahar plays a bigger role in the show than she does in the comics

Charlie

Here's an interesting thought. Of the main friend group, which one doesn't have their parents mentioned? And why not?

Charlzz

Hurt people, hurt people. As the saying goes.

Jennifer Cooper

My dog is Lexi, I don’t see anything wrong with naming pets human names😂

Jera Hanson

Yikes. I’m sorry to hear that. My sneezes are so loud people say I sound like a dog. 😂😂😂

Cowswithwebbedfeet

Oh I love this

Jacqui Chesterton

I held one in once at Target and broke a rib... so yeah. Don't do that!!!

KL M

My cat is Mary Agnes!

Archie Craven

I absolutely love your reactions, and your discussions throughout this whole series talking about realisation, sex and first times has really hit home. I don't think it matters what age you are. It's scary as fuck. I've taught sex ed, including LGBTQIA+. It's the inclusivity I've always been passionate about, but I didn't realise why. I didn't realise I was part of the community until this show. Every single character is perfect. Even wanker David. They all have their place. It's an education and I am so glad it's happened during my lifetime 🩷💜💙

Ann-Marie Still

Loved the Olly cameo. It’s such a shame we didn’t get him as a Spring sibling (in the comics he’s meant to be their little brother, not their cousin) but I was so happy he was included at least in this scene! And we start to see where some of Jane’s too much gene comes from. Generational trauma, am I right? Welcome to the second half of the season you two!! It’s full of so much goodness. Also I think you’ll be pleased to know that they did have gravy at the meal lol you just missed the dialogue where someone asks another if they want any 😂 And Charlie drew his and Nick’s pinkies touching from season 1 where Charlie invites Nick to his birthday in inpatient and gave it to Nick as a present and I think it’s absolutely adorable!! Also, silly fun fact: that scene where Nick and Charlie are eating toast had to be ADR’d because Kit and Joe were talking about less decidedly wholesome things.

Carley Timmerman

If you don’t want to sneeze, just say watermelon or elephant. But they also say don’t hold them in. So…..

Cowswithwebbedfeet

The tortoise thing took me out 🙈😂😂😂😂

Frances

Well, I don't have time to watch this before bed, but in the other hand tomorrow will be so much better! Thanks! 🥰

Stian Kristoffersen

Moment of silence for the lost sneeze 🥲

Rosie Carlisle

Looking at a bright light when you need to sneeze will make you sneeze, not make it go away 😊

Trisha Renee

Oh and all my dogs have had men’s names…Simon, Mike, Barney, Eddie and Frank 😬

Michelle Barry

Sorry Alex, I love human names for animals. Love from me and Jane the cat 😺

Jacqui Chesterton

Yeay!

Wildallie Diaz

Tori is an empath for sure, especially when it comes to Charlie. A lot of this episode is from Alice’s book “The Winter” …I love that they used a lot of content from that book and “ Solitare” which is mainly about Tori.

Michelle Barry

You talking about gravy was hilarious, and I fully agree

L34

Hope you enjoyed your trip! Guessing you’re posting after your adventure. Plus! Yes, another episode. 🤍

Reem

Yessss cannot wait to watch this!!

Maisie

Yay! Guess I'm watching this before bed

beacan

Omg!!! Getting ready to head home from work cannot wait to hear what you thought of this episode

Amanda Balser

I know what I’m watching when I get off work!
