Kitsune in Teyvat Chapter 29

Dealing with the Treasure Hunters was a swift and brutal affair that wasn't worth looking back on as they were swiftly cut down, and with Bennet's aid from his Pyro Vision.

Their remains were made into ashes, along with their camp being destroyed after collecting any possible loot in the area.

I mean... We were all vision wielders and otherwise well-trained warriors versus a bunch of bandits with no powers. It's not like they had an actual chance, obviously.

"Hmm, well what do you three think about heading over to the Angel's Share to have a nice drink after we get back to Mondstadt?" Eula spoke as she dismissed her ornate great sword after finishing with another Ruin Guard.

Bennet and Fischl shared a look before Bennet said sheepishly. "Sorry, Eula, I need to help my grandfather set up some new sheds and fishing lodges."

And Fischl shook her head before saying. "Forgive this Prinzessin for she must endeavour to help her Queen Reagent in taking down the evil overlord hiding in the basement hosting devil's games of chance!"

And Oz then calmly added. "She means that she and her mother will be bullying her father to stop hosting poker games in their home's basement." 

Even as Fischl stomped her foot in annoyance at her familiar ruining her mystique as per usual.

I saw Eula slump a bit in place so with a mental shrug. I said with a chuckle. "I woudn't mind a drink. I haven't gotten to try Mondstadt's famous wine yet as well." 

Eula perked up at that with her saying proudly. "Good! I was worried that I would need to wrangle that helpless girl Amber into drinking with me again."

And I couldn't help a chuckle at that as Amber was very much a 'good' girl who didn't drink or cause issues. Well, besides climbing atop the highest point of Mondstadt city and then flying down on her glider.

But beyond that, she very plain and focused on not causing trouble, unlike me. 

Still, with all that said, I looked around the frost-covered ground of the Dragon Spine mountain before I said thoughtfully. "Well in any case... We should get a move on then. It's already getting close to dinner time, and we don't want to be here around the mountain when the cold ofthe  night hits."

The rest of my adventurer party agreed quickly enough, and we began heading back home to Mondstadt while I was sorta of lost in thought.

I was... Rather curious as to what Ei was doing back in Inazuma. Was she still getting our path out of this false, crumbling world? Had she given up and was focused on saving Inazuma for as long as possible?

I had no idea as it's not like my adoptive mother had bothered to send any messages to me while I ran away for my own safety to get away from the Knave.

'Ah yes... The Knave, well, with how I have grown up. It's not like she could forcibly adopt me again.' I muse,d though on the other hand, I was also worried how Ei would react to my sudden growth.

Then my insides curdled as I realized something horrible. 'Oh dear Archons... Yae Miko is going to Ara Ara the shit out of me when she finds out I am legal now!'

"Kurama, are you ok bub? You went pale?" Bennet asked with clear worry before he added. "Wait, did a meteor hit you, and you're trying to keep strong!"

My face twitched at his words, as in reality, I knew for him and how he was literally cursed with misfortune. It was certainly possible for a meteor to come down and smack him or a friend who was just too close.

Still, I shook my head and said helplessly. "No... I just realized I might be getting an arranged marriage when I return to Inzauma." 

Fischl actually stumbled with Eula's face twitching as Bennet said rather awkwardly. "Uhm, is that an Inazuma thing? Or is it something else?" 

To which I flared my nine tails and said helplessly. "No, it's a matter of my powerful and pure bloodline and the fact that the kitsune race of Teyvat is all but extinct, with but a couple of my kind hiding away."

As the kitsune being beings of magic and spiritual power we were perfect to acts as the priests and mikos for Inazuma's overly rich landlines that flooded the land with power and magical nonsense.

And during the dark days of the Archon War and other major events, our lives were spent dealing with horrors coming out of the shadows and the leylines.

So although we could live for several millennia even with Celestia's Erosion upon our souls. We would die in service, typically to Inazuma, before we could reach such an age... Hence why my mother hid me away to keep me away from the temples that would seek to recruit me.

"Either way... It's not something I need to worry about so long as I am not in Inazuma." I said with a chuckle as there was NO way that witch Yae Miko would leave her comfortable temple to run all the way to Mondstadt right? 

Still, we headed back to Mondstadt with myself talking about Inazuma as although everyone here had been to Liyue at some point for various reasons. None of them had been to the island chain of Inazuma.

Once we got back to Mondstadt and got paid from the Adventurer's guild, both Bennet and Fischl ran off with their own things to do while Eula and I headed over to apparently get plastered at Diluc's tavern.

"Haaa now this is the good stuff." Eula exhaled as she fanned her face with a hand, as she lowered her wood and metal flagon with a soft thud of the empty oversized cup hitting the table.

Meanwhile, I more relaxedly swirled an ice-filled glass filled with a heavy wine that came from the Dawn Winery.

"So! You are scared of heading back to Inazuma because of that arranged marriage huh?" Eula said pointedly as she knocked her flagon of ale at me.

I gave a wry smile before I said helplessly. "She is far older then me for one thing... And an evil witch to boot. But I am also on the run from the Fatui which are looking for me."

Eula took another deep swig of her drink before she shook her head and demanded. "Heh, so what do the Fatui want with you then?"

And after a moment of thought, I said rather bluntly. "I ate an artifact of power they need for their plans of world domination."

This earned a giggle from Eula as she was definitely loosening up after two large flagons of booze. 

Then Eula knocked my glass and said firmly. "Hey... Why aren't you drinking!? I am already two cups down and you are still on your first smaller one! Are you a man or not!?"

I exhaled before I chuckled with my illusion around my kitsune form flickering before I said with a chuckle. "Fine. Let's see how my tolerance is."
