Sword is equal to Wand, Chapter 19

After the runes class, the next class was Meditation and Internal Cultivation, which honestly... Just felt like mandated nap time, as it was a class period of strict deep cultivation in a large class room that had large mat's for us to spread out and be away from one another.

All the while, the room was flooded with thick magical energy for us to absorb. No speaking was allowed in the class at all unless it was to get the attention of the rotating teacher or the teacher's aid who was in charge of the class.

The point of the class was to force even the slackers to develop their magical core to some extent while also having teachers there to aid any students, as this was a stress test on their ability to actually cultivate their chosen cultivation style/manual.

I myself didn't have any issues in the class, and although its effects weren't as good as cultivating in the Room of Requirement, it still allowed me to cultivate in a steady manner while also reading stuff mentally in the Library of Heaven's Path.

Though Flitwick was the teacher for this period, he did share at the end that Lily Potter, Rosaria's mom would likely be in charge of our period of the class from next week going forward as well.

Still, the class was a bit of a snooze fest as the thick, cloying magical energy made the room honestly too comfortable to put several people asleep even in a sitting position.

But! With that class over, it was time for the class I was looking forward to the most in the  Beast Taming and Spiritual Bond's class. As Mavuika had warned me for good reason to not make any soul bonds as a Newblood, especially back when I first entered this world and was at Diagon Alley.

"Gods above... If I could reincarnate, I would want to reincarnate as her outfit." Another guy from Gyrffindor muttered a bit away from to his other buddy, which made me snort though honestly, I couldn't blame him.

Mavuika was fucking hot to say the least. And her preferred tightly clinging leather, single piece outfit, left little of her voluptuous body's shape to the imagination.

Still, I was more focused on her as we all walked to the designated meeting zone near the Spirit King Forest as she leaned on one of the massive trees that had a post for her to stand on to get a height advantage to talk to all of us I assume?

After a good bit of Mavuika just ignoring us basically as she was casually reading a book of her own. She finally snapped the book closed with her giving us all a deep look with her eye's having a glow within them.

The Gyrffindors and Slytherins in the class all silenced themselves as we knew the teacher was going to establish herself now. And woe be to anyone who decided their prior conversation was worth earning a teacher's ire.

"I am here for one reason and one reason only... To educate you about the arguably most powerful system of magic in the world. Soul Bonds." Mavuika spoke with her voice enhanced clearly by magic so it had the volume to carry to all of us, and she didn't have to shout as our class was a bit spread out.

A good number of students looked confused at Mavuika's words which to be fair was a fairly understandable reaction. It wasn't magic used to create a new world by a god or an immortal wizard.

No magical contract that was well-known could shatter the cosmos and overturn fate.

But then Mavuika smiled and said calmly. "They say love is the most powerful of magic in the world. And that is true, but Soul Bonds can be that very love made manifest and turned to a purpose that can help you."

She then said more coldly. "It can also be a path of domination. A god or immortal beast chained to your ambitions if you have the strength and wit to tie them down."

There was a heavy pause as she let us absorb that information before she continued. "The Soul Bond between Wizard and Spirit Beast is extremely important for any witch or wizard for a variety of reasons."

She took a deep breath before continuing. "The bloodline and potential of the spirit beast you sign a contract with will affect your own magic and potential in a great number of ways as you should know from reading the first year's textbooks."

It was mandated homework to read that textbook for sure, which I did of course read. And it was important to read because it correlated with ALL spirit beasts, like wizards had their elemental alignments and such.

So, picking a spirit beast to bond with, regardless of its bloodline or potential, NEEDED to account for that series of alignments to come unless you wanted to fight against your own cultivation style.

Likewise, if your spirit beast followed your own style of cultivation... From the absolute base minimum, you would be cultivating at twice the speed though half of your cultivation accumulation would be going to your spirit beast.

But if you made a contract with a high-quality spirit beast like one of the many different offshoots of the phoenix or dragon bloodlines? Your cultivation speed would increase by ten times at the very least!

And even if half of your ten times speed had to go to your spirit beast. Who gives a shit! Your speed is still five times faster than it was before. And more importantly, your spirit beast with its far stronger physical body would be protecting you from monsters and passively enhancing your own body's physical potential!

"Getting First Years their first Spirit Beast contracted is one of Hogwarts' major priorities, so they can speed up their cultivation and enhance their base body's physique. A typical human can, however, only have three... Maybe up to five such soul bonds before their soul and magical core collapse from the strain."

"So it's well understood for students to take weeks if not even a couple of months, to make their first such soul bond." Mavuika continued to explain in a calmer tone.

Dorea Malfoy raised a hand, with Mavuika nodding for her to continue. "Miss Mavuika, my family has already arranged a contract with a royal Spirit Beast bloodline for myself. I do not need to be... Trekking through the forest."

Left unsaid was Dorea's though of. 'Eww walking through the forest looking for a decent spirit beast which may not even exist, is for filthy peasants.'

Oh, and Mavuika definitely got that message as well as she merely blinked with a look of amusement coming across her face as she said in slow 'approval'

"I see... Well, seeing as you are so advanced compared to your classmates, I believe that Hagrid is hosting a second-year combat class right now with your own upper classmates, along with a matching Gryffindor class. Why don't you show off your talents and fight those second years?"

Dorea's face pinched as she knew that although she was highly talented and the base Manifestatio Stage of her martial arts was a good couple weeks, if not a month away at worst.

She knew those second years, especially her own fellow housemates, would take the chance to suppress her brutally in the arena.

Dorea's expression turned dark before she said quietly. "I meant no insult, Professor, I merely was saying in case a spirit beast decided to offer themselves to me."

To which Mavuika merely blinked and, without losing her stare upon Dorea she said idly. "Another thing to remember. Is that Spirit Beasts, even one's stuck in their beast forms and unable to transform, are still intelligent to an extent, and their more powerful clanmates from their bloodline will make sure they do not lose out if you approach them."

Then Mavuika cleared her throat and said with a smile. "Now! All of you take out your wands, and just past the tree line is a storage shed filled with some weapons. Grab a weapon of choice to protect yourself and then... Just go for a walk through the Spirit King Forest."

There was no mistaking the gleaming sun design in Mavuika's eyes as she said. "I cannot give you a spirit beast to make a contract with. You must make such a contract on your own... And it will come to you naturally, as the race of wizards, witches, and spirit beasts have been chained together for countless millennia."

'We are being told to just wander into a 'monster' spirit beast-filled forest and to what? Stumble across a spirit beast? Yeah, this is relying on fate a good damned too much for comfort.' I thought with a sigh.

Douglas Karr

Considering the whole Library thing I could see his eventual familiar being either Fairy Queen Morgan, Nimue/Viviane, Titania (with him becoming the new Oberon) or some form of Spirit/Goddess of Knowledge, any of the fairies would be amusing since all the chaos it would bring to the wizards, especially if it's Morgan or Titania since the former would cause everyone to expect mc to turn into the next dark lord and the latter for his eventual super-harem and everyone trying to get a fairy familiar and/or items out of him. (or crafted ones in the Lady of the Lake's case) At any rate, I'm really looking forward to what he eventually ends up with. Thanks a lot for writing. :)
