Night City Legend Chapter 16

The ATLAS project, or it's true name in the Atmospheric Terraforming Laser Accelerator System was an important tool I could use to help my future plans. Because this Earth? Large parts of it had been rendered arid due to Mega-Corp abuse that killed any life in the ground.

But Mars? To say nothing of the value in the Prothean technology, I needed to lock down. I would be able to terraform Mars with the technology I had. Especially with the ATLAS project helping thicken Mars's atmosphere... Hell, just building Mars an actual atmosphere was the most important part.

"Are you all ready?" I asked quietly.

Fifteen Executioner models, including 2B nodded silently as the stealth jet hummed to life as it left our work site under the cover of reflector fields.

Which would block the view of both electrical and organic eyes looking at the jet by scrambling the visual spectrum around the jet by a wide margin.

The jet hummed to life fully as its engines and the anti-gravity generator roared as we picked up speed and left Night City's view with me sagging into my chair as I steepled my hands together around a large cube that was heavy as fuck.

The cube being my real ace in the hole currently, as it was basically a far simpler Necron Tesseract Cube. But instead of sealing something deep in a maze of interdimensional nonsense. This one was just meant to rip a large area up and seal it away in stasis.

It wasn't capable of sealing spiritual nonsense, no bullshit time, and spatial nonsense like the real Necron pokeball cubes. But this one didn't need to be so special. It just needed to be able to rip a large building up out of the world and allow me to take it away easily.

As useful as my spatial ring was... Its volume wasn't nearly good enough as to take away a giant technology park away.

Hence the necron super pokeball basically that I had been working on for the last few days. And was reasonably the only one I could make for the next few weeks.

Although I would love to say I was somber and I spoke with 2B and the other androids about our mission. But in reality, I was entirely devoted to shit posting and dunking on Rebecca who herself had just finished a gig.

[So this one fucker came at me with a sword of all thinga. But he didn't even have a sandy or some other bullshit! So I just blasted him with my shotty and he DID have a subdermal implant... Mannnnn he cried like a bitch until Lucy cut his head off with her wires!"

'Ah yes, Lucy has her monowire implants in her wrists.' I mused to myself before a priorty message reached me from Commander White who along with the rest of the YoRHa models were busy protecting the site.

[It should be on the other side of the mountains, but apparently Vault Tech, thinking Umbrella was the one to hit their convoy attacked one of the large hidden labs which has had a major containmented breach. I highly advise not staying in the region once you complete your objective.]

'Ah hell... What the hell got out of Umbrella's labs?' I mused before typing back to White. [Put out feelers to see what the hell got out of the labs. I need to make sure it's not some kind of air-born super bio weapon or some nonsense.]

[Affirmative. It will not take long to get an answer as NUSA is already working on containment measures. Though there are already public reports of mutated creatures roaming about.]

"Hmm, hopefully it shoudn't be an issue yet. On the other hand... The guards for the ATLAS project is going to probably be on high alert." I mused to myself before I closed my eye's and continued shit posting to Rebecca.

And even David after he told me how some gang goons got tore up dealing with the bio weapons hiding out in the mega buildings trash and loading dock.

-

"Blood seeping through the mountains, bioweapons running about in the open... Does one also need to talk about the damned Mothman and his cultists apparently as well!?" Albert Wesker snarled towards the diminutive form of Eveline, the walking bioweapon.

Eveline wore a wry smile before her almost hollow and repetitive voice rang out, showing that she herself wasn't in the best shape.

"Frank Horrigan was... More or less immune to my telekinetic pulses. To say nothing of his small army of Deathclaws that were the equal to our Tyrants and other lesser bioweapons."

Wesker scowled but nodded as he said quietly. "That... It is true, the Tryant's main value is in their being capable of being slotted into power armor and further augmented with other cyberwar and heavy weapons. Tyrant's aren't meant to fight Deathclaws in hand-to-hand."

Then Wesker's scowl darkened as he looked down at Eveline who raised an imperious eyebrow at his look. Still he was undaunted as he snapped out.

"Even still... Why did you release the T-Virus and FEV samples into the wild! NUSA is considering glassing the entire mountain range, and sending black ops to clean out the North American branch of Umbrella!?"

To which Eveline said calmly but firmly. "Then use your connections with Arasaka to push back such motions. They, along with ourselves want to use this situation to test out bioweapons and the latest generation of cyberwarfare in mostly unregulated combat."

Even as Wesker's eye's glowed golden in warning, Eveline said blandly. "It's far better for these trials to occur here in the mountains out of the view of the common populace. Plus, the samples that were released into the water tables are the short-lived variant. Mutations are sure and total DNA collapse in the subjects and virus's are assured within three months."

There was a heavy pause before Wesker said flatly. "If this situation happened in Night City... The city would have been flattened. Still, you will need to work on containment, the virus cannot spread to the East Coast and the cities around the Great Lakes."

Eveline wore a smile that stretched entirely too far for her face before she said casually. "Very well then. I will ensure that no contaminants leave the exclusion zone... However, what about the Vault and NUSA projects that have soldiers and mercs?"

To which Wesker wore a small smile before he said casually. "A casuality between Mega-Corps. They should have left, and we even warned other's that Vault Tech and Umbrella were going to bat. We always need more specimens of course as well."

-

I awoke from my short nap as the jet continued to fly through the air by the 'feeling' of a priority message comming through that made me blink.

'Oh? We are almost here.' I mused before the scout model who was flying the jet sent a message. [Too many laser, plasma, and anti air measures in the area. We can't come in for a close landing with the systems picking up the absence and reflection of their signals.]

"So ground op it is." I muttered with 2B who was next to me saying quietly.

"That is the case it seems. Stick with me near the middle. This is still a smash and grab, but we will have to do a long trek through the mountains as well." 2b spoke in a soft voice.

And soon enough the jet bank as it came in for a low drive by with it's rotating engine holding it up as we all jumped out of the side door of the jet jet and onto the ground a couple dozen meters below us.

As soon as we landed on the bare stone platform the jet was hovering over us. I realized that... Something was wrong.

The tree's were rustling in the night wind, the mountains were cast in the light of the full moon. But there was an darkness that wasn't born of the sun not being in this area.

'Escaped bioweapons woudn't have this kind of aura... The hell is going on?' I thought though I was thinking that I was just antsy or something with this being my first real combat mission that was on purpose.

Well probably this was going to be a combat mission. As I very much doubted that I would be able to snag ATLAS without a fight.

"Target is three miles out, and hidden in the base of the valley as you all can see." 2B spoke quietly as I and the other dozen androids stepped up to the edge to see the few lights that illuminated the parking area that surrounded the massive facility down below in the distance.

However, with our cyber-based eye implants or the androids just straight-up much stronger electronic and mechanical forms. We could see the dozens of anti-air and anti-armor laser gatling gun turrets, to say nothing of the small army of Sentry Bot's and other Vault Tech/Mega Corp automatons.

"Activating the jammer, and everyone use your visual impairment bombs." I spoke as I used my cyberdeck to active the jammer one of the androids were carrying that would block outwards signals that weren't hardline.

But seeing as this facility was all but completely remote, besides the underground giant power cables that powered the facility. Blocking outward signals was very important!

Then I along with all the other androids, took the small cannons from our backs and with dull thumping noises. We shot several dozen sparkling smoke bombs, which would blind the automatic turrets and defense systems.

And then our eyes were filled with violent light and the rushing boom as a wave of debris came for us! Which hit our chests in a wave of air, that hit us as the facility's mine field exploded violently in an attempt to clear out the surrounding area.

"Watch out for any other traps. Let's get going!" I said before I leapt down the cliff with my enhanced tendons absorbing the impact of the fall.

Even as we rushed for the facility, I held up a purple glowing shield of a Mass Effect as the guards, soldiers, and mercs began shooting at us from the guard towers that surrounded the massive facility.

So, while I blocked the laser, plasma, and machine gun fire with the Mass Effect field. Several other androids began quickly picking off the shooters with mechanical precision and instant head shots.

"Umbrella infiltration! Umbrella infiltration, look out for Bioweapons!" The loudspeakers rang out and for a moment, even as I used my oversized hand cannon to shoot at a guard. I kinda blanked as I thought.

'Wait what? We are Umbrella?' But then I realized idly that a mass of very similar-looking women with clear superhuman abilities beyond just cyberware probably screamed cloned bioweapons or something. Especially with the outbreak that just happened.

We quickly broke into the facility as the chain link fence surrounding it was quickly cut through with 2B using her sword. And then we swiftly headed while under the cover of the thick cloying smoke bombs, towards the main ATLAS building.

Which held the machines that did the weather affecting things. And it was definitely these fuckers that were causing the weather effects around the space station and the space elevator.

As the machines was still running hot, the scientists were running about and screaming how NUSA was going to black bag us all and all that bullshit.

But it turns out... While scientists were protected by scary shit. They themselves were very squishy, so although it disquieted me, in having had to deal with them. I needed them all out/dead in order for me to seal up the main building, which held all the important machines and the satellite system that controlled ATLAS.

Once we broke into and cleaned out the main building, the two scout models quickly synced themselves up into facilities internal servers and quickly crippled the internal systems to render the defense system dead.

"Alright, the defense system is dead. Now I need to stick the facility in the spatial cube, and then we can bug out! 2B, 7E 24E, and 29E you three keep any soldiers away while I do so. Then I will send up a flare to signal exfil."

The three androids I pointed out nodded, and with their heels clicking in a song of promised violence, I took a deep breath before grumbling. "Now let's see if I can get this damned eldritch cube to work without my brain melting."

The true Necron Tesseract Labyrinth worked via forming a complex, multi-stage pocket dimension that would fold in on itself countless millions of times. And that folding would keep folding itself inwards so as to keep whatever sealed, even demons, and literal gods from escaping.

My sealing cube worked... Far, far simpler by forming a matrix around what I wanted to seal. And then with a violent spatial collapse, the area marked within the matrix would be folded up within the far simpler cube.

It was far simpler, far cheaper to make, but it had a lot of flaws... Like the internal spatial walls didn't fold in on themselves, so even a toddler could literally tear the spatial walls on the inside, which would destroy the pocket dimension.

But, if there weren't any sizable life forms or things moving around? Like in this case, it was perfect as the facility was swiftly compressed to fit into the cube.

Now we just needed to extract without our jet getting blasted out of the air... Totally an easy thing to do, right?

A loud hum rang out before a blur of sharp blue light cut through the air where our jet was, with a loud explosion ringing with the androids inside the jet bailing out. As 2B said quietly. "The nearby mountains had hidden railguns that were on their own network or we would have picked them up."

"Exfil to the south, we will need to get out of the search radius of NUSA when they learn their super weapon went black." I ordered with a frown as I began running.
