Lord's Tutorial Chapter 16

Sellen and I both shook our heads at Renna's words, though I shifted a bit as I said more firmly. "Anyway, I need to get you out of here, Sellen... And maybe your friend as well?" 

But my teacher in Sellen sighed, though I couldn't see her expression with her stone mask over her head. Still, she said quietly. "You can't physically free me, my foolish disciple. Can't you see, the primal glinstone that engulfs my hands and feet, they are fueled with my own power."

"I could just... Break the wall holding the glinstone in place." I said quietly.

But Sellen took a breath and said firmly. "No, Jake even if you did physically free me of this horrid place. I would be but an invalid, my limbs and magic all but strangled within my body due to this Glinstone... I need you to reach into my chest and take my own Glinstone core just as I gave you one."

"And then find me a new body that can host my Primal Glinstone that will host my soul." She finished with finality.

There was a pause as I considered her request, as I honestly didn't plan to give Ranni her ending and whatnot. Sure, I would do her questline to get stronger and get the Moonlight Greatsword. 

But giving her the world to welcome the Cold Moon into said world was a fucking terrible idea. To say nothing of how she literally does nothing to help me in any notable way.

Still, mugging Seluvis was a fun idea as he was a prick anyway. Hell, I did want to use his god awful potion to make the Dung Eater into a puppet as well.

"Alright... Uhm what about your ally of circumstance?" I asked a bit awkwardly as I looked at Renna, who in the dim candlelight just raised an eyebrow that was easily seen due to her hair all being silver, which contrasted with her darker skin tone.

"Oh, do not worry about me for now. If you would but break these shaped shackles, I will be free. No need for anything so extreme." She said easily as she relaxed slightly at seeing me pay her positive attention.

I slowly nodded before looking back to Sellen, to which I sighed and said quietly as I kneeled in front of her. "Will you be alright? I do not want you to go mad if you are stuck in your Primal Glinstone for long."

To which Sellen said rather flatly. "I will have no mind to which to go mad with. My soul and consciousness will be in the deepest coma possible. Do what you must Jake, I will be fine."

My lips twitched at the reminder that she wouldn't have a mind to go mad with at that point but just as I raised my hand to shove it literally into her chest to rip out the stone holding her soul. She said quickly.

"Renna! I will be indisposed of and unable to teach my hopeless disciple. I ask that you take him under your wing and teach him of the magics that are not of Glinstone!"

I paused at that with my spear hand just inches away from Sellen's large breasts that stretched out her ragged thin robes.

There was a pause before Renna spoke quietly. "Sellen, witch of the School of Glinstone... You understand the stigma that having your disciple take my tutorship would bring him. Do you dare bring this trouble to his steps?"

Sellen actually scoffed and said proudly and her words made my face curl into a smile as she said. "Hmph! Your student Ranni was a fool who dared to delve into the eldritch powers of Outsider's but my disciple will not! Not to mention, my disciple will of course become the Elden Lord!"

Renna was silent as she just stared at Sellen's form for a long moment before she said dryly. "You need not worry about going mad while he searches for your new body. For you have obviously been blessed by the madness of the stars."

My master didn't rise to the insult, she merely stared with her stone mask at Renna, who held her gaze before Renna looked at me, and she asked me bluntly. "Jake, disciple of Sellen, the disgrace of the Liurnia. What is magic to you?"

I actually considered the question for a moment before I answered simply. "It's power and understanding. The power to clear the obstacles in my way, and also a path to understanding the world around me and beyond."

"That... Tis not a bad answer, not something too profound, but for a neophyte such as yourself. It's more than enough. Fine, I will teach you the core of the various magical styles I have learned over the many years." Renna said with finality.

So with that, I turned back to Sellen as it's not like I could hold some form of disciple ceremony with Renna being chained up. And then with an exhale, I didn't let the tension build up. I channeled my own glinstone power to my hand making it glow an eldritch silvery blue.

And then I shoved my knife hand into Sellen's chest, making her weakly groan in pain as my knife hand crushed organs, both spiritual and physical, as I reached for her heart.

Once I felt her glinstone core and pulsing heart in hand. I clenched, shredding her heart, making her seize up, before I ripped out her primal glinstone from her chest that pulsed weakly like a heart.

Her primal glinstone was but the size of my fist and fit easily in my hand... But it was a heady feeling, more magical than casting any spell at feeling Sellen's literal soul in the palm of my hands.

With a thoughtful sigh, I put Sellen's soul-bearing Primal Glinstone away before I realized something rather fucking important.

'Wait... Fuck! Now Irina is stuck in Sellen's Cellar all alone, probably!' I thought with a sinking feeling in my gut before I took a breath. Irina had supplies, she could stay there for a good week without me rushing over to help her.

Honestly, even if I did rush over to help her. What could I do? She was blind, helpless, and I had no one else who could help watch over her, as the world of Elden Ring had no such allowances for those with disabilities.

And with a sinking feeling, I realized that it was possible that Irina, may become Hyetta regardless and thus walk the path of becoming an apostle of the Three Fingers and the Flame of Frenzy.

But I would deal with it when it became time.

I then turned to Renna with a bit of a heavy heart and said. "Alright, let's get you out of those chains now."
