The Longest Short Bus. Chapter 60

The rest of the day was likewise spent with a shroud over myself as Corvus Corax's hidden Primarch aura was a weight around my people's enhanced perception. And as I entered my personal quarters, I knew the big feathery bastard was following me.

And so did the two Custodes who could read my own discomfort like an open book despite my armor covering my form.

"I thought you would be in the Warp, or hell, just staying in the church with the statue of your father." I spoke with some annoyance.

There was a pause before my vision caught something in the corner of my helmet's vision. And I looked over and saw that Corvus, the massive man, was a couple of meters away from me... Which was entirely too close to me frankly.

With such a deadly person who could hide from my perception and even my machines. I very much preferred him to be at least three miles away obviously.

"I do not know what to make of you obviously," Corax spoke in a soft but deep voice. And his words set off all my fucking alarms.

So with that I just asked bluntly. As I knew Corvus wasn't a Primarch who wanted people kissing his ass. "And yet, what have you decided about me? Do the Sister's of Battle's zealotry put you off?"

Corvus's black as the empty void eye's blinked before he said slowly. "Their zeal... Is not unfamiliar to me. Similar to the Sisters of Silence, my Father cultivated before he even made the Astartes, but you are not my father."

His eyes laser-focused on me before he drawled out. "No. You are not my father, and I do mean that quite literally. Despite the obvious gifts and connection you have with him. You are not a shard of him."

He then glanced at the silent Custodian's who stood stock still but tense like a spring ready to inflict violence upon the Primarch even knowing that they would die in the attempt.

"Yes, you do have a connection to him with your Anathema nature similar to himself. I can't help but wonder if you are... A little brother perhaps, a new version of a Primarch his shattered mind has created in the Warp and let incarnate into the world naturally rather than a gene-wrought wonder made in a lab."

"From everything I know my father, he wouldn't let such a project so far out of his view. But he isn't exactly in the best state right now is he?" Corvus finished off rhetorically.

There was a heavy pause before I blinked, and I couldn't help but snort and I said in amusement. "You might be able to suprise Lorgar into allowing you to rip out one of his demonic hearts if you tell him that. That your father decided to make another one, another son."

And I could see it.

On Corvus Corax's extremely pale, angular face, he imagined the scene. Then his gaunt expression turned up into a cruel smile as he knew that such words, if spoken with truth would for sure make Lorgar suprised in the extreme.

"Maybe so." He said quietly before he looked down to me and asked bluntly. "So, in detail how do you plan to use me to kill Lorgar?"

I blinked at his sudden demand before I wondered why he wasn't going to forcibly take over my operations which was the norm for Primarch's honestly. But I spoke clearly and without hiding anything.

"I have the typical Exterminatus weapons on board this ship, and beyond that. The ship itself has a planet-killing energy canon installed, I have Nova Bomb's that will destabilize the local star and planet with a minute made black hole. And a Warp infused series of Virus Bombs that will eat Chaos manifestations and then will burn the warp when the emissions are ignited."

There was a pause before Corvus said blandly. "Such weapons, even that... Virus Bomb wouldn't work because the Diseased One would sense the bioweapon even if he couldn't directly control it. And would warn Lorgar and other's to flee into the warp."

To be fair, that did make sense. Because the Imperium was nothing if not fully capable of blowing up worlds. And when the Chaos gods weren't directly staring at a world and their people, they did destroy most of the Chaos Primarch's worlds.

But still. "This ship is heavily warded so that they cannot see within it even as we sail into the Eye of Terror. Otherwise we would be constantly bombarded by Warp manifestations due to the statue that has your father's will in it." I spoke with a slight shrug.

Corvus tilted his head to the side in thought before he spoke thoughtfully. "Hmm, in either case. I assume you wish to alpha strike the planet in order to deal as much damage as possible? Or are you going to attempt to land on the world to go after your target on foot?"

I exhaled heavily and said with a wry shake of the head. "Hunting down the arch traitor will not be easy in either case. And trying to find him on the planet itself is likely a fool's errand with how the entire planet is a shrine world to their filth... So I will be blasting the planet frankly."

There was a pause as Corvus just stared at me. His dark eyes seemingly taking in my worth. And I wondered if he was considering the value of commandeering my ship for the typical melee-obsessed foolishness Warhammer loved so much.

Then he spoke in affirmation. "Do as you will then... You will not see me again in either case. When you attack the planet, I will sink into the Warp and will find my true target with the chaos that you cause."

Totally a completely reasonable response I tell you

Azazyel

Thanks for the chapter looking forward to more.

Hmm is it time

MC. I'm gonna blow up the planet the star and local space to flush out both of the rats we want.

asdo

No, Murphy is located deeper in the warp, far beyond the shallows that the 4 reside in, he's one of those ancient things that inspires fear even in them

Douglas Karr

The true truth chaos cheats everything and any time they can. That why I dislike most 40k Warhammer stories. They act like chaos cannot get to the MC even after he pisses off Chaos.

Forgottenone

it's warhammer of course everything will go to shit some how. I always thought Murphy was the 5th securit chaos good lol

PhotoStorm

Damn difficult writing coherently and without lots of plot holes

Douglas Karr

Being over-prepared could fuck up the story... And the Chaos chaos farting away his weapons would be frustrating obviously. I gotta walk a fine line.

On one hand everything could go to shit and one the other it could go perfectly smoothly in an almost anti climactic way, sorta got caught with their pants down kind of a way.

Douglas Karr

Hmmm… I really want this HellWorld to be destroyed already. But things would become increasingly difficult during and afterwards since Jake will definitely have the eyes of the Chaos Gods on him and his Crew for this stunt. I’m just getting impatient I suppose.
