Cursed to Infinity Chapter 18

After sending Mei Mei, and Ui Ui to the spare guest room... I promptly went to sleep as the last day was completely bullshit to day the least.

And as I awoke I was awoken to the beautiful reminder that the world didn't revolve around me as I had a message from Noritoshi Kamo which read. [Jake, the water dragon has moved further inland towards Kyoto. We are moving out today at noon to hunt the dragon. Please be ready at the bounty section where we will be meeting.]

I groaned at that and then I got up with a groan and left my room only for my lips to twitch as I saw that Mei Mei, Ui Ui, and the twins were sharing an awkward staring contest with one another.

"Jake!" Anya spoke out with a bit of forced cheer as she looked between Ui Ui and me.

And I realized why the two were looking on edge. They thought I might be replacing them with Mei Mei and Ui Ui with how Ui Ui was clearly in a set of maid clothes.

So I gave Anya and Alyx a quick hug around their sides and said. "Mei Mei and Ui Ui are basically my bodyguards, don't worry about them. Now Alyx I need you to make me and these two a big to-go lunch as we have a mission to do." 

Both girls exhaled in relief with Alyx smiling as she got up and kissed my cheek before she went into the kitchen to get breakfast started with Anya's help seeing as there was now a sizable group of people to feed.

"Alright, so here is what is going to happen Mei Mei." I spoke more quietly so the girls cooking in the kitchen couldn't hear.

"I will be time-locking you after today as we will be busy doing the dragon mission and I need to be in top shape for that. Basically, our initial deal will keep going but you will be on a short leash." I finished before I went on to explain how the dragon hunting mission got moved up.

Due to the water dragon apparently moving further inland towards the city of Kyoto which was obviously a major issue with how Kyoto and Tokyo were the only two major surviving cities in Japan.

"So to keep things simple. Ui Ui your job will be to ferry anyone who gets injured or even looks dead so I can heal them with your teleportation. While I will be healing and buffing people from the back, maybe doing long-range damage." I spoke after we finished our breakfast.

Mei Mei shrugged and said in her more casual tone. "Should I be directly in the battle? Or should I stick with you in case someone else is controlled by Makima and goes after you?"

My lips pursed at that and after a moment I decided it was for the best if I at least told Toji that.

"Having you in the melee and your using your enhanced birds to fight the dragon would be smart... But I am indeed worried about any of the mercenaries being more of Makima's puppets." I spoke.

"So I am going to go talk with Toji about this in person. Ui Ui can you teleport me outside of the main building?" 

The white-haired maid nodded demurely and offered a hand to me that I took from her. "Let us go, master." Ui Ui spoke and my vision blurred before I realized we were already just outside the main castle-like building that held all the main offices here in the Kyoto Jujutsu College.

I took out my phone and then dialed Toji's number with his tired and bored voice coming through.

"What do you want golden goose? I am up to my eyeballs in paperwork so unless its a cure to this terrible plague then I don't want to hear it." 

My lips twitched and I said dryly. "I need to talk to you in person about something important, and I am coming up to your office now. I just wanted to give you a heads-up."

There was a slight pause before I heard Toji groan before he said blandly. "Fine hurry up. You will give me a small break from this damned paperwork after all."

I made my way into the office building with Ui Ui following me close behind and then I reached Toji's office without any issues.

After knocking on his door I heard Toji grunt for me to come in and I came in with my tag-along with Toji throwing Ui Ui a look before he drawled out. "Sooo... You made the contract with that hag. So what's up?" 

I could all but feel Ui Ui stiffen at Toji's words but I just smiled wryly before shaking my head and saying more firmly. "Mei Mei was controlled by Makima the Control Devil we met earlier." 

"She tried to access my powers and used Mei Mei as a sock puppet in making the contract." 

Toji just stared at me blankly before shrugging and saying flatly. "Whelp fucking sucks for Mei Mei. She walked into that shit by signing her soul away I imagine by fucking about with Makima right?" 

I looked to Ui Ui who sunk in on herself and she said weakly. "I mean... She did go to Makima to look for protection from the contract she wanted with you."

"See! She stuck her finger in the mousetrap and got bitten for it. So not my problem, but if Makima takes over someone inside the bounds of Jujutsu Tech... Then I will happily rip her head off her shoulder." Toji said proudly making me want to facepalm.
