Hero Within, Monster Without Chapter 20

Panacea kept me in a relaxed stupor for... God knows how long honestly. Days? Weeks? I had no way to tell with how I would occasionally wake up only to fall back asleep.

But for however long she kept me asleep, she also kept my body from physically exploding upon itself as my enlarged soul continued to heal itself until I was no longer constantly having the soul equilvalent of an unending pulsing migraine.

And after a while... I healed, I became better to put it simply from my ham-fisted method of killing Scion/Zion.

Then as I was relaxing while a quiet radio filled my ears that Alexandria had seemingly put in while I was asleep within whatever safe house I was within. I heard the sounds of boots hitting the floor abruptly meaning someone had walked out of another one of Cauldron's Doors.

I opened my eyes and blinked as I saw Alexandria stride into the room with her form covered in muck and mud. "Did you get in a fight with Lousiana and lose?" I asked sarcastically.

Alexandria tilted her head to the side and then said bluntly. "Your information proved correct when Leviathan attacked Miami Florida... We were able to have several annihilator type capes power an object shot by a Thinker sniper which destroyed Leviathan's core." 

There was a pause as I mentally accepted that information before Alexandria said dryly. "Of course... Leviathan didn't die so easily as his core in its last act violently wrenched all the water inside everyone and in the surrounding several dozen miles that wasn't a brute and made all of it flash boil.

I remained silent as Alexandria took a breath and said. "But Leviathan is dead now. And the Birdcage has been cleared out as you requested along with several S-class threats Cauldron is capable of dealing with. Having been dealt with." 

After a moment I shifted with my form changing as I took back on the human form I had in my previous life. Eating the soul of Scion had changed me greatly, and taking on a human form even if it wasn't a 'monstrous supernatural' humanoid form wasn't an issue for me anymore.

I took my human form so I could properly look upon Alexandria and she visibly straightened up at seeing me sit up as I spoke with a sigh of tiredness. Even as Panacea with dull eyes grabbed my arm to continue to heal me.

"I expected. I would need to do everything honestly... Killing Scion, the Endbringers, the S-Class threats and deal with everything else while still being forced into the form of some furries wet dream." 

Alexandria snorted loudly making me raise an eyebrow as she dryly retorted. "Jake, Cauldron did some... Terrible things I fully admit, but we only did all of that in the hopes of getting inches closer to kill Scion. With him dead? We are free now to fix the world and make amends with resources even you with all your shapes can't muster up without apparently killing yourself." 

She actually shrugged with a smidgen of happiness in her tone as she spoke. "Jake, you gave us the keys to the kingdom basically. The other endbringers? It's only a matter of time before we deal with them, we have time and only the Simurgh will be an issue."

"So once again... I have to ask, do you want a ride off this Earth? There are plenty of alternate Earths with people, Cauldron could set you up within their societies. Especially if you are capable of keeping a human form."

I remained silent for a long moment. Before I spoke frankly. "Alexandria... Thanks for the offer, but I think it's best that once I re-gather my strength. I take a walk on my own. I will make my own way." 

I could see how Alexandria was staring into my eyes through her visor and for a long moment we were both silent before she nodded slowly and said more quietly. "Very well then. How much longer will you need the services of Panacea?" 

"A day or two probably at this point. I am almost healed enough to be stable and not need any more intervention and can take care of myself." I answered honestly.

The strongest Brute in the world gave a noise of affirmation and then she said slowly. "Very well. Panacea will be moved from here in two days and we will go our separate ways unless you reach out towards us." 

With that, I just silently nodded in agreement with my eyes closing with Alexandria's boots making a couple of noises with her footfalls before they abruptly disappeared as she took a portal wherever she wanted to go.

I opened my eyes and held out my very human hand to inspect it.

"Such a simple thing... An un-hairy, simple human hand can be." I mused to myself as I closed my hand into a fist as I realized I was... Content now.

I didn't 'NEED' to fix this literally god-forsaken world. It was time for me to skip town honestly. And by skipping town, I meant when I was fully healed in the next week. I was going to take the form of Palkia or a Plainswalker and just stroll my way over to another world.

'Fuck, I am going to the universe of Monstergirl Encylopedia, get some real RnR... The real question is what species should I try to waifu up?' I mused as I wondered about trying to make my way to Sekirei for another source of easy waifus to settle down with.

But in reality, I didn't want to get involved with Minaka's game... God, I was just a dragon who just wanted to curl up and sleep for a couple of years with some treasure and entertainment. 

"Whelp... Wanting to get a waifu with some cat ears or something, isn't a bad thought process after eating an eldritch god basically." I muttered to myself.
