Information is democratic and is available to almost everyone who is looking for it. Our past recent generations unfortunately did not have this luxury, and hence continued many things without knowing the why and what.
Also, it mean that the tended to carry on what was passed on to them by the previous generations, and moreby the authorities who were very powerful controllers. So the hangover of Mughal and British Rules continued to be practiced and passed on. For eg the Purdah system is a Persian handover to us, more prevalent in the North of India, because they ruled more in the North.
i also believe that we must revisit our surviving remains for eg here Khajurao. We just know it is for its erotic sculptures, and are upon shied away as a place for tourism. In fact the need of the hour for our country is to expose everyone to such works of art, explain what the intent was , history was behind these and many more such sculptures all over the country. Our temples are open public museums often narrating stories, history, science and ways of ancient indian life. It is time to come out of the sleaze of Bollywood C Grade Cinema that has shaped the poor mental thinking of our population.
We have no exposure to real art or real cinema, and hence we feel it is normal to exploit, objectify the female gender in fact any humans ; in a way glorified and portrayed as normal behaviour by our poor in taste movies.
