Added 2022-10-12 11:04:35 +0000 UTCI am a sucker for all things mechanical, also I love to know every bit of gear that I use, be it a car, a phone, a software or a camera. I think knowing your gear ensures you get maximum bang for your buck.
My dad has passed on a beautifully built German Analogue Camera. The camera itself is not such a well known brand, but the way it is built is pure sex, if you know what I mean. Each and every part of it is good metal, planned to last a few generations and there is nothing that will break or go obsolete in it.
The only problem was film and developing it. I found both last year, and in addition to this camera, picked up a couple of bellow cameras from a german flea market and also a very nice canon ae1 almost new from ebay. This followed me buying a whole lot of different film and also a developing kit and chemicals.... this was in December 2021, and cut to today, I have shot 12 film rolls, sent out 8 for developing, only 3 had pictures lol....
oh yes i forget to mention, i pour in all my patreon money and some more into my photography, be it new gear, be it new software, be it accessories, lenses etc. Though it may not cover for all of it, but trust me it completely takes away the guilt, that non-professional photographers like me face from time to time...
