These humanoid giants are called "VS"

an acronym for Vessel, an armored fighting vehicle or a main battle armored vehicle.

There are two types of VS, Machine type and Biotype, and they varied in many different sizes and shapes.

and all VS types are essentially, technically alive though it is different and not always the same level of intensity depending on their type.

Machine types are not as "living" as Biotypes.

not completely sentient but they can feel, taste, breathe, see. and hear, but not essentially need full basic needs like humans would, and they can not feel pain unless it was necessary, though they can react to pain, twitching, or slight sudden jolt of body movement.

their inside frame "VS Frame" is a living being that was created artificially using mechanical parts, metal and flesh, muscles, and anything in between to create its frame, it is not uncommon to see them bleed or overgrown vegetation on them, it does not harm the VS in any way.

To control the VS their pilots need to go through training, not all VS have the same controls mechanic some may have it pilot go through necessary surgery or modification to have the types of equipment to pilot them.

and VS usually are installed with various AI to make controlling VS easier and less intensive or burden their pilots, mentally and physically.

though some AI may not obey these pilot protection protocols in order to operate at its VS max performance.

VS is a force to not reckon with on the battlefield capable of carrying and using a large number of heavy ornaments, autocannons, large artillery, missile pod, rocket launcher, railgun, laser cannons, and various weaponry.

possess mobility with multiple high-powered thrusters. high level of defense that can tank lot of abuse, and survivability with self-healing property of Biotech but they are not invincible, a well-placed tank round can put a VS out of commission.

but they are an important asset to any group to have and any good pilot can utilize them with great success.
