August is here!
Added 2022-08-01 22:06:00 +0000 UTCI feel like I blinked and missed the entire month of July.
As I'm typing this, I'm on my last day of dog sitting. It's been nice and relaxing having two weeks all to myself with just a couple dogs to take care of and a book to write. But it's also been a little lonely, a little boring.
I didn't make as much progress on my current work in progress as I was hoping to, but I did write almost 8,000 words while I was here. Not the knockout burst of writing I was hoping for on this little writer's retreat, but still good progress. The most important thing is that I've gotten back into the flow of this story and can hopefully keep chipping away at my word count once I get back home tomorrow.

One other exciting thing that happened to me in July was that a painting that I submitted to a local art gallery was ACCEPTED for their August show! In just a few weeks I'll deliver the painting to the gallery. It doesn't feel real yet, and I doubt it will until I see it up on display with my name printed below it. Here's a picture of the piece, titled Womanhood.
My biggest goal for the month of August is to finish a really solid first draft of the novel I'm working on, which means I have a lot of words to write.
