Livia is a gangster and she's proud of it.

Reading Augustus by Adrian Goldsworthy, interesting that a lot the small details are true, I.e just came across this example
'Drusus’ younger son Claudius announced a desire to write about the civil wars, and was quietly but firmly dissuaded from doing so by Livia and his mother Antonia.'

Great reaction as always to an awesome show. Augustus was almost certainly much more tyrannical in real life but, you have to remember that the story is Claudius' version of the history he's writing so, he's romanticised the image of Augustus and Germanicus & Posthumous. He's an unreliable narrator. There's the scene with the 2 historians where he says one writes
history beautifully & the other writes it more accurately. I think that was Robert Graves highlighting Claudius' failings as ahistorian.
