The 2 minute and 5 second instrumental intro in For Whom the Bell Tolls is the best intro in any piece of music ever. The ominous bells at the very start set the stage perfectly for what's to come, Cliff's distorted bass solo that follows is incredibly creative, the grimy and groovy headbanging riff after the bass solo is intense, the guitar lead that pops in at 1:16 is amazing, and the final riff of the intro (that later is restated in the chorus) leads into the verse smoothly; it is the perfect intro.

Peeing sitting down as a man should be considered as an acceptable alternative and not as an emasculating action which is an insane leap on societies part imo.

Does it take longer to decide you like a track than to decide you dislike it?

(Prompted by NMF Tallest Man on Earth + girl in red) How do you stay open to subtle music? When busy, it's easy for me to skip over tracks that don't grab my attention quickly. You're very good at sorting the heartwrenching from the schmaltz; the complex from the unstructured; the minimal from the shallow. Do you purposefully hold off judging too quickly? Cultivate attention?

Anaal Nathrakh is the best extreme metal band right now. Desideratum is the best album of the 2010's.

King Gizzard needs to slow down a bit. I enjoy these jam session type releases but it’s gotten too hard to keep up with all the very similar sounding extended songs. Much of their recent work feels almost forgettable

JID is the most underappreciated rap/hip-hop artist currently.

10/10s are a pain in the ass. No record is perfect, no performer is some kind of deity. The relentless demand for the ultimate in canonical validation is a distraction from the only thing that matters: total sonic immersion. Music evangelism is just as worthless as atheism evangelism, sports evangelism, political evangelism, etc. It’s all wasted time that could be spent discovering new music, working to earn more money to buy more new music, and then listening to all the new music humanly possible until our ears fall off.

Does David Bowie have a perfect 10? When looking at his entire body of work he's probably one of my favorite artists ever. I think he has a few albums that come really close for me but I don't think there's a "definitive" David Bowie album.

The Buckley family (Tim and Jeff) are music for people who think they like complex music but are really just pretentious. Neither of them are particularly talented but music nerds jerk them off like they’re the next coming of Christ.

Willie Nelson doesn't quite get the respect he deserves in online music nerd circles and the general public at large. He gets plenty of love and respect, don't get me wrong, but for the man who made Phases & Stages (masterpiece), Red Headed Stranger, Crazy, etc. and has been an absolute figurehead for a country music for decades, he's just been the haha funny weed man in the public's eye, and hardly talked about in music circles over more indie alt-country stuff. More music nerds need to blast Bloody Mary Morning

Kanye West is basically the Tila Tequila of hip hop. You can laugh. You can be mad. But it's true.
