Jeremy Kyle Show was like Dr Phil/Jerry Springer. Stupid shows where families sort out their private troubles on a stage in front of a live audience.

I love that Peter is actually principled and takes a stand only for his decency to be thrown back in his face. Really hammers home the relentless backstabbing nature of political games like this.

Jeremy Kyle had a show on UK TV like a watered down jerry Springer where dysfunctional people would come on and get humiliated...one poor sod committed suicide and the show was cancelled .

You learning about Jeremy Kyle by reading is so funny because it makes his life look so terrible. His show was basically The UK Maury show until it got cancelled because a guest punched another guest. He basically just shouted at the guests to get a job, stop doing drugs, go to rehab and use condoms. It's one of those shows full of DNA tests and lie detector results.

No aggression implied, KB obviously gets our humour and profanities and being called a muppet, twat, wanker, etc. as he's called this show one of his all-time favourites. This was to point out the facts, terminology to help understand the story arcs and who's who and what's what. It will help with the enjoyment of it. Tone of speech is not possible via text.

100% since watch in 1984 with our Floridonian friend (Brian AKA king boomer) and just seeing the bullshit of censorship on YouTube Like I'm sorry when has penis lesbian Death ever being considered swear words all three are just natural parts of life I hope that the period of time that we're currently in is a brief one but it does seem like we are actually living in a dystopian reality I mean perfectly innocent Iraqis been sent to Guantanamo Bay despite the fact that the only Iraqi in al Qaeda Bin Laden wasn't even a part of the 9/11 attacks and all of a sudden people like the Kardashian Jenner family are actually respected in society and when are we gonna get rid of the royal family the 2020s are weird 😅 🫠 🫠 🫠

I don’t remember everyone talking about Jeremy Kyle. He was a fringe figure who had a daytime tv show (so most people with jobs didn’t watch) and was only mentioned when you have some slime on the bottom of your shoe and you need something to compare it to.

F~*k me King, your memory is shockingly bad, DOSAC has been mentioned and seen on building/office signs countless times since episode 1. It's the name of the govt. department 'Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship' not a person. Peter Mannion is Nicola's opposition equivalent aka the shadow minister for the policies and remits of DOSAC. Stuart is the crazy communications guy who buts heads with Peter.

Blackadder back and forth was a special made for the millennium. It's not good but it's worth a watch as a curio. The cavalier years was a comic relief mini episode, which is a shame because the setup of it would have made a good series.

well known =/= national treasure.
A national treasure is someone like David Attenborough or David Jason.
Kyle was always controversial and most people have never liked him. Like that bloke at work who eats his own bogies. They all know him, but they don't all like him.

Blackadder back and forth is definitely worth a watch Boomer, don't know who would be slagging it off, its harmless enough and has some big cameo's in it and most of the original cast and regular guests.. It's also interesting as her in 1999/2000 in London the millennium dome was built and for a year it was a attraction that divided opinion quite a bit, with many slagging it off but as part of it there was a small cinema built just outside that showed this Blackadder one off film. It's entertaining and will make you laugh/ chuckle, like say don't know why you would be told not to...

To add to @James Aston About the Jeremy Kyle Show it was known for its bear baiting style and it's sensationalist “entertainment” factor it was very mediaeval in its ways that it turned the audience or wanted to turn the audience against Guests on the show who clearly came from broken homes and were unfortunately broken people themselves (Who clearly needed a lot more sensitivity care and love than Jeremy Kyle ever gave them) and one of the massive things that got it off there was Jeremy Kyle went after a man on the show who had poor mental health which the show producers knew about and as a result of the Jeremy Kyle Show took his own life he is basically known in Britain for just being a horrible piece of shit PS DoSAC isn't a person at all it's the department that the Labour Party Nicola Murray's gang works at BTW was it just me who gave 22:00 a standing ovation Peter Capaldi is THE OG

A 'national treasure'? Even when his show was popular everyone thought he was a prick, his whole deal was promising desperate people a few free sessions with a psychologist or a free snack test that they otherwise couldn't afford, if he was allowed to yell at them for a live audience and potentially slander them on tv with unreliable lie detector tests. It's a wonder more of them didn't do away with themselves honestly.

The Jeremy Kyle reference is less about the man himself and more about the show he presented. It was basically poor people baiting on TV, like Jerry Springer but real. There's plenty of compilations on YouTube if you wanted to react to them

I'm not sure on what basis Jeremy Kyle could have earned "national treasure" status, especially when you describe him as "just a UK Doctor Phil." It was snide, obnoxious, cheaply exploitative television, wallowing in ugliness for the gawping masses.

On Blackadder: Back & Forth was a one-off Millennium special which is a bit average at best - definitely not what everyone was hoping for, a decade after the grand finale in no man's land - so ultimately it's up to you whether you want to bother with it.
The Cavalier Years is fun though, and it's only 15 minutes so you can do it as a YouTube reaction. I mentioned this way back on the comments of the final Blackadder II episode, but the only thing you really need to know is that Stephen Fry's portrayal of King Charles I is a piss-take of our current Charles III (who was just the Prince of Wales back then). Give it a go, it's a worthwhile slice of Blackadder.

for clarification more people commited suicide from love island on ITV but they kept that on air, its purely a ratings thing, jeremy kyle was a national treasure and then he got swept under the rug when the ratings dropped off, the only people who thought he was a bellend were the type of people he got on stage, he's just a UK doctor phil, nothing special

Jeremy Kyle show, worst show ever, used to get all these fighting families on who would air their dirty laundry, subjects like my mum slept with my husband, or my brother stole my jewellery. They would all start shouting etc at one another and he used to stir it all up. Then one of the guys committed suicide that had been on it and the programme came off air, thankgod, cause it’s was the dregs. Now he presents on GB News and he’s still a bellend
