I always found this to be a bit of a ‘filler’ episode, but it had some great moments like Nessa as the statue.
Bottles beer for me would likely be Moretti, Madri, Cruz Campo or Estrella

My go to is Bud seeing as it's relatively cheap and the twisty caps are bloody great, most beers in the uk don't seem to have it for some reason?

In this country if you want a lager then it'll usually be a European beer brewed under license in the UK and it'll invariably taste like piss. Proper English ales for a good local one or you'll have to go for a more boutique craft style lager but they aren't "popular" in the sense of being drunk by the masses.

John Prescott, a Labour MP was deputy Prime Minister under Tony Blair in the late 90's/early 00's. David Blunkett was another Labour MP and Home Secretary (Your US Secretary of State) who was blind and had a guide dog, hence Nessa's reference to 'David came along and brought his bitch' . Another of Nessa's fantasy stories about famous people she drops in periodically.

For a barbecue itll almost always be bottles of Peroni or Moretti. Cider drinkers will be on Thatchers Haze or Koppaberg

You may have noticed Ness keeps mentioning an ex of hers called John Prescott. He is a very known British politician that's known for punching people who call him out for his politics. He makes a cameo in the show later, that's not a spoiler but if you didn't know who he was you wouldn't think anything of it when he turns up

Dave is the only other one that knows about “the camping trip” so his comment about “setting up camp” just added to the awkwardness and anxiety from Bryn and Jason.
There’s so many subtle jokes on the whole series - at the start with the protest about the phone mast and then Pam was complaining the cell phone signal was terrible around there 😂
Edit: You got there at least 😆 you missed the 69 bingo joke though

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet. But the story Nessa told to Stacey at the bingo was about John Prescott, a former British politician. She was claiming she had a relationship with him. When she said 'that punch was meant for me' she was referring to when Prescott punched someone on camera, I think the person threw an egg at him.

I would drink cans when younger not bottles and something like Carling. A lot of people drink bottles of Budweiser though. These days it's a Guinnes or local cider
Ooo.... interesting question KB.
Bottles beer it'll be something like a Singha or tiger beer. Peroni is also nice from a bottle. There's not many UK lagers in a bottle that taste good. A nice pale lager from Asia is the best served lager from a bottle.

Hi King Boomer, glad you had a good break, your beer question lol, is like a essay assignment, with us Brits lol, there is so so much too it mate 😁
So most British beer sucks to be honest, the % is low and some of it close to what Bud light represents. The most popular British lager is probably Carling, which is crap. For some reason the people who brew this in the UK, were able to re-package Carling at a slightly higher % at 4.6% and convince the British public it was a Spanish made lager called Madri, which is massively popular in the UK now. Those who know at least a bit about the subject, know this is just another crappy British lager, packaged in a clever fashion.
Sadly also, even some of Europe's best mainstream, beers that are hugely popular in the UK and have been for years, such as Stella, Kronenbourg, Grolsch etc, are now brewed here and due to tax hikes and what not from the Government, have been taken down to lower percentages. For example recently Stella and Kronenbourg both went from 5% to 4.6%, mainly due to British Gov't tax attacks. On the continent, you can get both between 5-5.5%.....
In the pubs here the most popular beers are Guinness, 4% I believe, Fosters 3.7-4%, Stella 4.6%, Kronenbourg 4.6%, Madri somehow and Carling, these are all lagers aside Guinness, but me personally I like a beer to be 5% or more as when you drop below this you lose out on taste and the effect of the alcohol.
To further muddy the waters, in British supermarkets, and outlets like Majestic you can buy bottled imported beer, lots of good ones from the continent and also very popular in the UK are ale's and bitter's/ stouts. These are darker beers with more flavour than your bog standard lagers.
You can also buy draft keg machines, not a surprise to anyone who see's my post, that I have and can get keg's online delivered to your home. This is fantastic as you can get great beers from Europe that are 5-6%, such as Herzog Grand from Holland and Jupiler from Belgium.
If I was going to the pub, and had to choose mainstream, I would probably choose a San Miguel, Asahi or Heineken on draft which still currently here retain the 5% but these are not as good as the imported lagers you can get in shops and online.
If you was looking for a good British beer, the best in my opinion is from the ale's that are made here, with Abbot Ale, ESB, Bishop's Finger all being solid 5% or more Ale's.
Just randomly as my rambling answer hasn't really gone anywhere lol, Jeremy Clarkson produces a lot of beers now days, with the original being his Hawkstone Pilsner Lager, 4.8% which is not bad, Camden Hells is okay but 4.6% these are not bad shouts for British lager's.
