Blackadder S4 Ep4 "Private Plane" REACTION!

LORD FLASHHEART RETURNS!!!

Blackadder S4 Ep4 "Private Plane" REACTION!

Comments

"Goggles on, chocks away: last one back's a homo!" has to be one of the greatest lines written in TV history

Simon Butterworth

I dunno about the twenty minutes thing but i do know a lot more pilots died in training than in actual combat in the Great War! RIP Rick!

Stuart Biegala

One of the best episodes for sure

Justyn

Adrian Edmondson should think himself blessed he had such a fantastic partner. Without Rik, Edmondson would be nothing. People always only watched them for Rik...'The Young Ones', Vyvyan was crap, 'Bottom' Eddie was another nothing character...it was all about Rik. He just oozed hilarity and only stopped when Edmondson piped up to utter silence. He owes Mayall his entire career. Isnt it telling how we never ever see him....no one gives a shit because the best has gone unfortunately.

Rob Walters

Wee jock poo pong mc'plop... vodka literally FLEW out of my nostrils 😁😆😅🤣😂

Rob webber

You missed Episode 3?

RobJFH

Ze Red Baron iz played by Ade Edmondson. He and Rik Mayall were very much a long term comedy double act. He as you know also played Eddie Hitler in Bottom

Yaapsdad

The closing scene of the very last episode is chilling. For the finale of a comedy it's incredible.

kev

I have a 'Lord Flashheart's Flying School' t-shirt. It has so far lasted for more than 20 minutes.

Katherine Birkett

Probably my favourite episode Absolutely brilliant. Pure class. I remember seeing this when it was first broadcast. Fantastic. Been waiting for this reaction and didn't disappoint.

Duncan Hart

Ha, if ever there was an episode to watch twice in one day it was this one

Julian T

Been waiting soooo long for this reaction and was a great one to boot! Really wish you would do the young ones or the film guesthouse paradiso!! And maybe for YouTube the bombardier adverts featuring rik ( a little like flash) https://youtu.be/1ekQPu8_-K8?si=ecaOZe6UMRwkY8M2

Dixiemac

I think you're right. This is the best episode of all of Blackadder.

Domlaaa

30 minutes at one point in 1916 was the average life of some new pilots on the Western Front until better aircraft arrived.

Nix001

I’m subbed to her as well 😊

Rob G

Absolute riot from beginning to end - and I'm not as hot on S4 as others are. ~Brilliantly written and performed. Haven't seen it for years, but was laughing out loud throughout - glad you enjoyed it KB. :) But just to add KB, as far as end credits are concerned, you only need to see the end of the final episode Ep6 - it is mandatory. EDIT - oh, and hope you had a good Thanksgiving, (if you celebrate that, of course, wouldn't want to presume)

Phil Robinson

I went to see his book tour as well at Harrogate. Didn't get to meet him, sadly, but I did bump into Steve Evets (Farmer Jim from Brassic) at the bar :)

Joe Blakeley

It's just episode 6 you need to watch all credits till the end

Rob webber

Fab ep / reaction. You'd love this, Boomer. Only 6 golden episodes. 'Filthy, Rich & Catflap". A BBC sitcom from 1987 starring Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson and Nigel Planer. The show follows the misadventures of a talentless, half-witted comedian (Mayall), his agent and his bodyguard, and features many cameos and parodies of celebrities and TV shows of the 80s. Simillar to the series Bottom, possibly even zanier. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filthy_Rich_%26_Catflap

Video of Rik talking about Blackadder doing a joke that always helps me remember how to say Tim McInnerny https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYo_bwT2M88&t=166s

Jessica Dalton-Morgan

It’s my favourite episode too, RIP Rik, still stings that your no longer here & you were taken so young

Duncan

Me and my mates used to quote his line "The hu-mi-li-ation will be unbearable" all the time.

Jay

Such a great episode, and the next two are brilliant also! Of course Rik Mayall is perfect in this one, but I think everyone else is also on top form. Especially Ade Edmondson as the Baron. I believe this episode is quite important in British comedy history, as it's the only time we get to see two legendary British comedy acts in one episode (Ade & Rik, and Fry and Laurie).

Jay

Legend! RIP Rik Mayall!!

Oliver Chapman

It's pronounced like 'Mac and Ernie'.

Rob Walters

Mandy Cane Lane

Ben

It’s cool that you got to meet Ade though, I’d probably lose the ability to speak if i met him 😄

James Ellison

It’s a real shame how their partnership ended, from what i read Ade just wanted to move on and away from comedy. Rik seemed his old self in series one of Man Down though, he was brilliant as ever in that. It’s still hard to believe he’s gone, 10 year’s now.

James Ellison

🎵 Slackblaaaadder...

Dextrous (Lewis)

If your watching Batman 1989 keep eye out for Cassandra dad he’s in it very small part but it’s him

JambonWAFC1988

Well that's heartbreaking..went to see Ade to his book tour where he told basically the same story..said Rik was never the same after the accident..very hard to work with

Paul Liversage

If the average life expectancy of a new pilot was twenty minutes they wouldn't have to teach them how to land

R Lawrence

Just watch the last one to the end

Mark Jephson

Who else reacted?

Louise Miller

I think its mcinery rhyming with liminary in preliminary, as in tim ma kinery...

R Lawrence

A very moving moment of Ade Edmondson talking about Rik Mayall on BBC Desert Island Discs podcast. https://youtu.be/egVW2ZPROLU?si=_1Fi-QRgVuiGq_Nt For some context, Rik wanted to write another series of Bottom, but Ade didn’t really want to, feeling they had done everything they could creatively with Bottom. Reluctantly Ade went along with it to make Rik happy, while thinking it probably wouldn’t get commissioned anyway by the BBC.

James Ellison

Yes my mistake Doh 🤦‍♂️

Tim Salt (Tim Salt Writes)

Was looking forward to this for so long and it didn’t disappoint, great reaction I knew you’d love it hahaha Don’t know if anyone has said it already but have a great Thanksgiving, I hope you have as much turkey, beer and football as possible

Chug

It wasnt Ade Edmondson who said that... It was the German officer before him.

Ged Fazakerley

The average life expectancy of a Royal Flying Corps (RFC) pilot in World War I was around six weeks, or 18 hours airborne.

Mark Williamson

💯

James Ellison

This wasn't an episode of blackadder, it was an episode of Rik Mayall ft. Blackadder. Rik steals the show on anything he is in and this world is a worse place without him. RIP Rik, you are sorely missed.

Tom Tucker

It is, just the last one and don't fast forward through it for the full effect 👍

Martin N

I think it’s the last one you need to watch after the credits

Charlie

Mac-In-Erry is not right. McInnerny is pronounced "Mac-In-Ernie". 🙂

Ash Jeffries

I’m not over it to be honest

Erica

What I love about Rik was he was so good looking and attractive but for years he played sweaty , shirt tucked into underpants, perverted virgin Richard Richard 🤣

Erica

Wow, 2 private plane reactions on the same day. Interesting reactions on both!

Ben

Yes indeedy doo 👌

Rob webber

Yes indeedy doo young man 👨

Rob webber

Awesome 👌

Rob webber

Same ❤️

Rob webber

In episode 6 DO NOT turn off until end of credits....you'll see why

Rob webber

I still miss rik mayall

Miles brown

It is. And the German guy near the end plays Eddie in Bottom.

Joe Blakeley

Both guys from bottom were in this one

Manly Stump

And you will suffer a fate worse than death 🤣 a classic ade edmondson he delievery makes its even funnier

Tim Salt (Tim Salt Writes)

Flashhearts the same guy in Bottom isn't he?

Jehan Ariyaratnam

There's no truth to the twenty minutes thing, though a new pilot living for 'three weeks' was a grim joke at the time, but has since been debunked; essentially it seemed to be that if you survived your first couple of missions you were generally OK for quite a while afterwards as you learnt your craft. Also, the old planes, built from wood and canvas, could be controlled back down to the ground even with massive engine failure, so unless you were shot directly or burnt, you could survive to fly again. Some viewed it as a cushy job, not because it wasn't dangerous (it absolutely was) but because you got to sleep in a proper bed every night. Essentially, Blackadder series 4 exaggerates everything for comedic effect, which, given how horrible WW1 was in general, is quite the feat.

ALW

At last! The best episode!

Joe Blakeley

You are nearly right! Closer than the suggestion. It's pronounced Muc-in-nery.

Nick Hughes

This is the best episode. Watch this over and over again. The fact that I am in the Royal Air Force has nothing to do with it. Lol

Robbie

Rik is a legend, also the German was adrian edmondson, as in bottom richie and eddie 😎😂
