I'm loving Fresh Meat, this is my first time seeing, it really is excellent, I'm so invested in these characters now. β₯ The actor (Tony Gardner) who plays Professor Tony Shayle is also in the Jack Dee cringe sitcom 'Lead Balloon'. Which I rate as absolute top tier UK cringe comedy, it's so funny it is painful, In it Tony Gardner plays an extremely highly neurotic and over-friendly cafe owner. He's in every episode and is really excellent in every scene. The show itself is about a middle-aged, fading UK stand-up / tv comedian whose career and opportunities are winding down. The show follows his many attempts to get his career back on track. He's "helped" by his American gag-writer / friend who is often keen to point out his many short-comings and failings. Jack Dee plays the comedian character and Jack Dee was actually a very popular UK stand-up in the 90s. In Lead Balloon he's playing a semi-fictionalized (and very angry / embittered) version of himself. It's side-splitting. It's a 10/10 UK comedy show for me. It's up there with Peep Show, Inbetweeners, Alan Partridge, The IT Crowd, Saxondale, The Office, etc.
