Mid Morning Matters S1 Ep5 REACTION!

Comments

I'm not sure the ass is a gland Booms, isn't anal glands more of a dog thing?

Z is for Zed

Like all our pathetic comedy characters, we're laughing at him, not with him!

James Aston

This is peak partridge. The cringe factor is turned up to 11 when he appears on the breakfast show. Wonderful

Yaapsdad

Sidekick Simon's writing "Out of the box thinker" on all of Alan's business cards at 19:11. Like he said he should, 41 seconds earlier.

Joe Thornhill

Same

Kieran B

Yes I noticed this ep had tiny bits trimmed from scenes. Not much, few seconds here and there.

Jason Scade

The guest alan interviews in the purple top is Darren boyd who played the bully shane hawkins in 'the worlds end'

Rob webber

The tablet that turned the water orange is called 'berocca' it's a vitamin B1 and B2 energy supplement,

Rob webber

But AP's question was stupid and I'm pretty sure Steve Coogan meant for it to be seen as such. Obviously adjustment for inflation is a variable so it wasn't just a yes or no question but AP was desperately trying to create a Paxman moment out of nothing.

R Lawrence

I'm pretty sure that Alan repeatedly asking the question about bus fares was a reference to a classic Jeremy Paxman moment on the BBC news programme Newsnight, when he asked the former Home Secretary/Leader of the Opposition Michael Howard the same question 12 times! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyqnu6ywhR4

James Mulligan

Scissored isle is particularly good!

Jamie

Thought the 9/11 line would have got more of a reaction from KB there.

Woodsey

Or 'fizzy good make feel nice'.

AdamMcAdamface

The cards Sidekick Simon is writing on are Alan’s business cards. This version seems to have bits missing. In the full version Alan asks him to write “out of the box thinker” on all his cards by hand.

Nick

🤣 Lovely stuff.

Jason Scade

8:29 Yes Berocca

Nathan

That was not a things are good handshake 😂😂

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

That 9 11 joke was so feckin good

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

He was drinking Berocca which is a vitamin drink, I drink them daily. Turns your piss luminous yellow (even the red berry one)

Thanks KB. Let me start off by saying I fully understand that some people don't enjoy Alan Partridge. Some of the females in my family have never got him and probably never will. Personally I think he is one of the greatest British comedy characters ever imagined - admittedly behind Del Boy, but not too many others!! The genius of him, as I see it, is that almost every man has a tiny bit of AP in their personality. It may only be 1% or 5%. It may be 80%! But most English guys are at least a little bit like Alan. The thing is we all KNOW it's not cool to act like him - and say what he says. So a filter creeps in - a "cool" filter. To our personality. A socially acceptable filter to our bluntest thoughts. Our thoughts about motor engines, or regulations, or the price of petrol, or the most efficient way to do something, or 80s rock songs....the list goes on! :-) In fact I think Steve Coogan has a massive part of his personality which is just like Alan Partridge's. There is NO WAY he could come up with the lines and situations he does without a bit of him already thinking like Alan....BEING Alan. But Steve is also a brilliant actor. So, when being 'himself' on TV he always only reveals the cool, fairly suave, very measured, "Hollywood" side of his personality. Eventually I hope you will watch (or possibly have watched??) his 'The Trip' series with Rob Brydon. You see the OTHER side of Steve that he wants the public to see...very witty, very sharp, some excellent impressions and some withering putdowns of Rob Brydon! Thanks again for all your reactions brother - only Patreon I subscribe to!

Tom

Love this reaction! Yeh, Alan was drinking an effervescent vitamin drink, probably Berocca or a similar brand. Some people do consider it like a hangover cure or when they are tired, though this is probably more of a placebo.

Ash X

"Everybody has their favourite gland, mine happens to be the… mammary"🤣

James Ellison

And also in Green Wing, where she has an ‘interesting’ relationship with Mark Heap

Julian T

Just noticed that the woman sitting on the far left is Mr Brittas's wife (Pippa Haywood) from the comedy Brittas Empire starring Chris Barrie.

Mouse

Yeah I reckon he's thinking of Alka Seltzer, reckon Alan is drinking Berroca

Mark Jephson

Traditionally the clear drink with the soluble pill in water is Alka Seltzer and the more modern bright orange drink which Alan is drinking is called Berocca, known as being good for jet lag and hangovers

Mark Jones

Alka-Seltzer?

R Lawrence

Thanks guys I appreciate it.

Brian Moran

Yes, highly recommend watching these before series 2. 😀 Then after series 2 there was scissored Isle. Don't watch scissored isle before finishing series 2. 😀

Tim Phillipson

Just a heads up.. there are two Partridge specials that were released after S1 of MMM and should be watched before S2. - Alan Partridge on Open Books with Martin Bryce, and - Alan Partridge, Welcome to the places of my life. Both are great specials and will break up MMM a bit.
