The Thick Of It S1 Ep2 REACTION!

"She was probably fucking in it!"

The Thick Of It S1 Ep2 REACTION!

Comments

Never knew that was him in Life Of Brian and I've seen it 100 times!

Joe Blakeley

Definitely, was gutted when it didn’t continue. Yeah Will is a great actor, I think it’s easy to write him off as just Hollyoaks / Two Pints but he’s got some range

Kieran B

No Offence is brilliant and criminally slept on! Will Mellor surprised me in that tbh👏💜

Adam Hale

It's odd, but the shaky camera technique implies that this is a fly-on-the wall documentary. But there's no way that these bozos would let a documentary camera crew film this.

Bruce Bowden

Haha yeh, or David Tennant hired a flat in London and decided to introduce some human body parts to the drainage system 😂 - if his purpose and aim was research, I still can’t have it, but you would think for a professional actor and if had any intelligence you would seek legal advice/ police advice first.. and be quickly told NO in no circumstances, lol. He could have met some offenders or done many other things to ‘research a role’ just not having it

Dave L

Chris Langham was very good. He played the roman soldier trying not to laugh at Biggus Dickus in Life of Brian and he wrote for The muppet show. It's just a pity he turned out to be a massive nonce.

Neal Murdoch

Unfortunately the actor who played the politician, Chris Langham, in this episode and first series was later found to be guilty and jailed for possessing child sex abuse Images and videos.

Yaapsdad

Yeah it's a shame because he's great in this but absolutely agree 'it was research for a role' is a dreadful excuse. Like if Robert DeNiro actually joined the mafia lol

Rach

such a excellent series, up there with the likes of Fawlty and the UK Office in my humble opinion, this guy Minister Hugh Abbott is so good in the role, he was convicted I believe of having indecent images/ videos of children, but there is a whole host stuff and things online about this and articles, ... he denied the charges I believe on the grounds it was for a role... / part, but was quite rightly convicted, I am sure some believe him.. I can't personally, think it's a nonsense & very poor excuse, and since then he has pleaded his innocence, etc, I am sure someone else may have raised this but thought you might be interested in looking up the history of Chris Langham KB

Dave L

So happy you're on this journey - honestly I've watched the entire run a number of times over the years but it NEVER gets old - it's just sublime, and as others have said, it just gets better. Can't wait to watch more with you KB!

Phil Robinson

It was Dafydd, I think!

Phil Robinson

In addition to those I remember Morwenna from all sorts back in the day, she was in the cult C4 show "Absolutely", and in an episode of Red Dwarf early on as the automatic turbolift attendant in one of the S2 episodes. She's always brilliant, but didn't recognise her here at all until I saw her name in the credits at the end! Oh, and "Monkey Dust" was amazing - I loved it.

Phil Robinson

And she's mummy pig in pepper pig

mav

The Thick Of It only gets better and better.

Geraint Harrison

please fresh meat tmz

Isaac Steele

Good ep / reaction. The actor playing 'Mary' is Morwenna Banks, she's been involved with many great UK comedy shows. She's in 'Saxondale' with Steve Coogan. And she's one of the voice actors in the dark and very funny UK animated sketch show 'Monkey Dust', which satirizes modern suburban living.

Jason Scade

Fuck, I can't remember the 'Little Britain' gay character's name now, either. Just Myfanwy.

Joe Thornhill

Please make sure you do Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister at some point, the original political muppetry from the 1980s. Another show with a similar style to this one is ‘Twenty Twelve’. It was about the (incompetent) organising team for the London 2012 Olympics. It’s quite underrated I think.

Julian T

It's a show I never got round to watching back in the day, but I wish I had now - I love it! Absolutely gold, and we're only 2 episodes in it!!

Mackem

This show is amazing, and I'm so glad you finally have Malcolm Tucker in your life!

AdamMcAdamface

Absolutely, KB knows that one though 😄

Kieran B

Ianucci was involved with Alan Partridge too

Chris

You might notice that along with the wobbly camera work there are lots of cuts, mid sentence. Almost like how some YouTube videos are. That's because Armando Ianucci gets the actors to do multiple takes. Some with the script and some improvised. He then cuts them all together. You'll notice in the end credits it says "Additional material by the cast".

Chris

Speaking of Jonathan Pie. Here's an interview from today or yesterday https://youtu.be/nF8NVYbPr5I?si=c5AYZ05eB8XpT2nk

Chris

You've no idea how happy I am to see some thick of it reactions 😂

Michael

‘Ollie’ directed a lot of Veep and a character you haven’t met yet wrote a lot of it, well the actor (Will Smith - a different one) not the character. It really is essentially a British show set in the US. He’s also the show runner of Slow Horses, an incredible espionage show on Apple TV (if you love this you’ll love that), and the actress that played the actress in this (Morwenna Banks) wrote a lot of Slow Horses. Six degrees of separation and all that. It’s much more common for British actors to also be writers, especially those from a comedy background, writers are held in much higher regard in British TV than in the US - and TV is the writer’s medium (film is directors and stage is actors).

Kieran B

Honestly KB, every episode is great. You say the situations are absurd but no more than what actually happens in real politics, sadly for us all. Shows like this are now difficult to make because reality is more 'absurd' than satirical comedy. The next episode had a few good rants in it.

Fordy7169

That was before Partridge's melt down with Tony Hayers on TV. LOL

Fordy7169

Evidently I overcorrected with never, as I said I should have put ‘in the stuff KB has seen’ as he kept referring to him as being a BBC radio presenter during IAP 😅

Kieran B

He presented Sportsdesk in On the Hour which was on Radio 4!

Alex P

Ah crap, I'd always assumed Radio Norwich was the local BBC radio station! (The real one being Radio Norfolk, which makes more sense thinking about it).

AdamMcAdamface

I love this show. Thanks to this show we now have the word Omnishambles, which has made it into the English dictionary and there are records of it being used in our Parliament that has made it into Hansard (the official record of every statement made in Parliament).

Jason Bonner

There are 24 episodes over 4 seasons, 2 hour long specials and a movie “In The Loop.” There’s a lot more than 6. So glad you’re watching.

Wilx

The guy in purple is ‘glen’ who was in one of the tango adverts you watched punching a rubber man up the rear!

Andi Main

It is the better of the 3 you've started recently. Spaced picks up and gets really good, but, personally, I love The Thick of It. Gavin and Stacey... well it's fine I suppose, but it doesn't come anywhere near the other two.

Domlaaa

The thick of it is a masterclass. The way it's done like a fly on the wall documentary adds to the laughter. I've watched it so many times but it's great to watch again with you king B.

Daniel Monney

Wait until you meet Jamie MacDonald!

Naeem Hosany

Glad you came back to this, its a great watch

Stu84

So glad you are enjoying this - it’s an absolutely top notch show 👌

Noah Platts

Jo Scanlan who plays Terri is one of the leads in No Offence, one of the best dramas in recent years. She’s a very different character in that, think you’d really enjoy that one - incredibly dark at times but very funny (in that police gallows’ humour sort of way)

Kieran B

you're in for a great journey. The show gets better and better

TC Elba

Terri is a Civil Servant so she works directly for the department regardless of which political party is in power, Ollie and Glen are special advisors to Hugh. And Malcolm is Director of Communications for the Prime Minister, essentially an enforcer. Hopefully that helps get a picture of the dynamics.

Kieran B

Best show ever made!

John Dawber

If you liked that Bunny boiler clip I sent you wait until you watch 'Alex Zane's sex contract game' and some of the Annoying Devil clips - I have a feeling you're jaw will be on the floor by the end of it haha! I wasn't exaggerating when I said it's like Jackass meets impractical jokers, some of the challenges are wildddd!

ryung246

Good point well made 😂 KB’s not heard that though but seems to have got the idea he’s with the BBC from IAP.

Kieran B

What about the Knowing Me Knowing You radio series? 😜

David Lyons

Alan Partridge has never worked BBC radio - he worked for Radio Norwich in IAP and North Norfolk Digital in MMM 😉
