Gavin and Stacey S1 Ep1 REACTION!

OH NO IT'S HIM!!! RUN!!!

Gavin and Stacey S1 Ep1 REACTION!

Comments

Not a massive fan of James Corden nowadays but this was him in his prime. Gavin and Stacey is a staple here in the UK. So happy to see you react to this!

Jonny

I remember mentioning you clicking your fingers years ago on your YouTube channel, you actually seemed to calm it down, as to me, it's the worst sound in the world. Now I've joined your Patrion, It's worse. I'm now paying to hear it.

ASMR Scottish Dee

This aired two months before it became illegal to smoke inside jn all bars and pubs in the UK, interesting to see the old world xDD

Richard D

I watched the Christmas special and was like "oh yeah, I liked this show!" Now I'm doing a rewatch

Will

Never heard what she said to him at the end, You shouted over it. Hope this improves, barely raised a smile from this episode.

Sibbo

I think you added MUNTER to your glossary when Jay suggested Will’s date might be found in a Facebook group called “LANKY MUNTERS”.

BoSquiddly

Hey boomer, I know it’s late but I can’t see any answer to your bridge question. That is the second severn crossing, officially name The Prince of Wales Bridge (but only muppets call it that) it’s the fastest way to go from south England to Wales via the M4 motorway

Geraint Harrison

Im Northern English and I have a hard time understanding the Welsh accent 😂 interesting to see how Boomer copes

Jordan D

What gives me conference is because I've never actually laughed at anything on that show...

DJ RJ

“It’s certainly not funny” .. why do you speak with SUCH confidence about something so subjective? It’s a comedy drama. I’d be interested to know what you DO find funny.

Aimee

I absolutely adore Gavin and Stacey, I’m so glad you’re watching it! Resubbed to watch this with you :)

Lauren Massey

He's a prick lol, but he's great in this show. If people stopped watching stuff cos pricks were in it, no one would be at football matches 🤣

Jordan D

oh god no ill let him pay but walking away

Craig McCulloch

wb

Craig McCulloch

my exceptions are immature - maturity will be enough justification... and the ' not just James Corden' no talent other than been on camera but with him i feel its way more ego

Craig McCulloch

I love Gavin and Stacey, but it's certainly not funny. It's just a nice easy watching and lighthearted British show. James Corden also in my opinion is not funny at all lol

DJ RJ

It's about time

Tom Crookes

Ignore everyone who cant seperate a character from the person playing them, its incredibly immature. Gavin & Stacey is a timeless classic worked on by hundreds of talented people, not just James Cordon

Jordan D

I wasn’t doubting him being a muppet at all. My point was just that many people are not interested in the personalities of celebrities and don’t expose themselves to that stuff. It’s kinda boring. He’s still unlikeable though, even without knowing about those stories and videos.

Julian T

Gavin and Stacey is a top series absolute classic

Jordan D

Still Think you would love Two Pints of Larger and a packet of crisps

Rob Pontin

Came back to the patreon for this 🖤

Aimee

It’s not a great series, but it’s also not a bad series, more of a dramedy than a comedy… if you like story arcs and get invested in the characters, then I guess it’s ok. (Several networks attempted a US version - what’s new ? Official trailer 😃) https://youtu.be/ZEVCMqS9FKI?si=3RGa8aBEKe9Jt3K3 I think they’ve just written the final special of G&S, after it being off the air for several years, due for broadcast at Christmas. As there’s 21 episodes (21 weeks) and the Christmas special will probably be broadcast in 17 weeks, it should work out well to add that on the end of the reactions.

Gary Tamblyn

Strap in Boomer!!! The love thing between G&S becomes a side thing to the humour and characters like Uncle Bryn, Nessa, Smithy, Doris (who gets filthier btw).

Paul

Yeah, well put - I reckon inbound have a beer with him still

Mark Jephson

'Cheeky Finger' - she means letting him

Mark Jephson

"I don't believe it!"

Jason Scade

It gets funnier as it goes along so stay tuned. This was just introduction the characters and the show itself.

Tone Grumbt

Dave Coaches was in Harry Potter!

Tone Grumbt

And in answer to your question what is a minger? It's a word for an ugly person, you will have heard Jay from Intbetweeners say this a few times!

Tone Grumbt

And Queen Boomer would like this I think.

Tone Grumbt

This sitcom was genius, a lot of it involves being funny without being unkind to one another, the characters are fantstic all 8 of them. If ask me Ruth Jones who plays Nessa was the real genius behind this show, Corden played his part and he is a brilliant actor, i remember him as a teenager long before he did this show on the other shows he was in.

Tone Grumbt

Alsatian = German Shepard

Daniel Heywood

*Cordon

daniel shears

I get the James Cordon hate - post Gavin and Stacey and his move to America and the late night talk show scene he's become a cringey, insufferable bellend. Have also heard he's quite a nasty piece of work on a personal level. That being said, he is simply fucking fantastic in this show, and it's testament to his ability as both a writer and actor. Very glad you're starting it and hope you enjoy!!

daniel shears

It's a show. It's a gentle comedy drama, but even regardless of Corden's involvement, some don't like that. KB will make his mind up in time. I'm not a fan personally, I did try with it, but it wasn't for me. But I'd never denigrate anyone else for liking something that I don't though. It's such a strange thing to deliberately click on something just to tell others vociferously how much you hate something. How fucking childish is that? Anyway, while I didn't mean to pick on your specific comment to make this point, you seem to love the show and I hope you enjoy KBs reactions to it going forward. All the best :)

Phil Robinson

I was just using it as an opportunity to plug 'Teachers' as I thought it was brilliant, Corden was the only kid in the class who actually wanted to do any work and do well in his exams, so was always calling Andrew Lincoln out as being an awful teacher, and Corden did a great job.

Mark Jones

Julian he has many times ... mainstream news wouldnt cover James been a muppet but not doing anything criminal... and there is plenty of videos and circumstantial evidence that matches other similar stories ... no smoke with out fire .. and this is the court of public opinion not the court of law. And disregarding ALL the stories and videos that show him in a bad light... he comes across soo fundamentally unlikeable. Very willing to believe thats a me issue but i dont think soo many people are wrong lol

Craig McCulloch

its bbc... dont hold your breath

Craig McCulloch

It’s a greet show, but has lots of UK specific jokes and references which I think could be a problem. If you managed 3 seasons of Benidorm, then hopefully you can manage 3 series of this 😂

Michael May

what a shame....

Craig McCulloch

Probably for the best. I wouldn't wish a ban on anyone but he can't say he didn't bring it on himself.

Paflad

Number 1 - it’s a show. Unless he’d done something indecent or sordid separate him from the character. This is a gorgeous heartwarming show that is at the centre a love story. It has really funny moments - especially when you get to know the characters but isn’t ‘wacky’ ‘surreal’ or constant set ups for laughs.

Adam

If you’re talking about the reactive abuser who dropped over 50 comments fucking with people and then claimed it was just banter and everyone in the UK has gone soft, he’s gone. I told him to stop and he didn’t.

Brian Moran

Well that was an interesting 20 minutes scrolling through the comments. Some people really are absolutely deranged lol I won't mention any names but one person in particular actually made me quite sad, because his username implies he's a fan of someone whose work I really admire and which he himself clearly missed the point of entirely.

Paflad

James Cordon isn't even that bad. Yeah, he's a twat. But we're all capable of being a twat. I wouldn't even go so far as to call him a cunt. Twat is as far as he goes. He got big for his boots when he gained some attention from American media. It went to his head. He thought he could be on stages with beloved people like Patrick Stewart and act like an absolute twat to him. He thought he was as big as Patrick Stewart, bless him. It could happen to any of us. None of us know how we'd be if the world's media suddenly started paying attention to us. I'd probably behave like a twat too. I think a lot of his problem is that the UK audience fell in love with Smithy, who was a very likeable and relatable character. So when it turned out James wasn't Smithy, people turned on him. Cordon is a twat, but he's not a cunt. Fame got to his head and he failed to handle it well. Sorry for the long rant. I've recently deactivated my Facebook where I was very active. So I need somewhere to vent lol. I've chosen you Boomer. You muppet.

Mike Currie

From what I remember, he was a kid that was a minor character. Teachers was good, but it doesn't do much to swing the needle one way or the other as far as the Corden debate goes...

Z is for Zed

Was going to suggest he watch it just to prove that we can do bad comedy, but he's already seen Benidorm when it went to shit so let's not expose him to more torture.

AdamMcAdamface

I hate James Corden but I do love his Smithy character. I think it's because when I first watched this show he was actually well liked. I've watched this show many times over the years and it's still a joy to watch. One of my all time favourites!

Adam

Will add to the wealth of comments: G&S has funny moments in it (Rob Brydon in particular) without ever being hilarious. It is more about the characters, their development over the years , and the music. Whilst also playing on stereotypes, it does give an insight into differences, and similarities, between areas of the UK.

Danny Wells

please dont put thoughts in his head ...

Craig McCulloch

Nobody really knew James Gordon before this and nobody hated him then . Smithy was massive at the time. The bridge at the end is called the severn bridge(Prince of wales) . Bridge in to wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Adam Williams

please god tell me no

Nathan

😂

Brian Moran

Mrs brown's boys next just to continue the carnage

Jake D

The New Statesman is the Rik Mayall one. It was quite good although I remember rewatching it and didn’t think it had aged well. Yes Minister is still very relevant 40 years later. There’s nothing wrong with banter but it’s best to do it without mentioning news stories or hot topics as it can be provocative. We all know people have different political outlooks, we’re all grown ups. Just park it at the door and enjoy the comedy.

Julian T

There's a few tbh. Drop the dead Donkey and was it Alan bastard also? The one with rick mayal? Tbh mate I didn't even know politics wasn't allowed in comments. I'll probably try to stay clear of the comments section and just watch the shows i enjoy as I've done in the past. I'm by nature a speak my mind and piss taking bloke by nature and that will probably get me banned lol. Although come on...most gavin and Stacey fans absolutely are either Welsh or fatties sometimes BOTH 🤣...(Disclaimer I hold no genuine dislike for either)

Sam Vimes

Yes Minister is a comedy that mocks the whole political system, I think it will be good fun if he does it.

Julian T

Tbh most of my comments were genuinely intended to simply take the piss and a bit of banter. But people seem upset 😅. I did leave Quite a few cos I suffer insomnia and was like now scrolling at midnight 🙃. I think I'd better stay outta gavin and Stacey comments before I get banned for banter 🤣. Genuinely didn't mean to hurt so many sensitive souls. Must of misjudged the crowd. If I'd made the same comments in my local we'd be ripping the piss outta each other. 😅

Sam Vimes

Well humour is subjective mate. A Mirranda hart fan probably isn't going to laugh at Bredon burns style jokes but Since most of my comments got likes despite them taking the piss I'd suggest not everyone is as grumpy as yourself 😡....lol I genuinely didn't think people were so sensitive. All my comments were meant in jest. And I think most were taken that way. As someone who comes from a military family and works in construction I tend to spend a lot of time taking the piss or having it taken. Ripping the piss must be out of fashion Didn't realise my fellow brits had gotten so soft in recent years 🤣.

Sam Vimes

Based on mocking gavin and Stacey fans? 🤣 when did people become so pathetically upset by piss taking?😂 maybe I should go around branding people "vile" cos they took the piss outta a tv show? .....🤣🤣🤣

Sam Vimes

Believe me, not everyone loved Smithy back in the day.

James Mulligan

Not sure how that'll work if KB reacts to yes minister 🤣 that aside I didn't think mocking gavin and Stacey fans would turn political 🤣 my only comment regarding politics was a joke reply to someone who said only women like it. On the day misogyny in uk was classified as terrorism at a time the P.M is literally giving people jail time for comments on social media. But I'm truly sorry is that upset sensitive souls 🤣🤣. Really didn't think a bit of banter would be taken so seriously tbh.

Sam Vimes

Never got into this but willing to give a shot, agree that Cordon always comes across as hugely unlikable.

Jason

A definitive critique if ever I saw one. You should have been writing for the Radio Times. ;-)

Phil Robinson

To be honest, I’m laughing at it now. Problem is it’s just not funny yet. Lol

Craig McCulloch

Mate, some day in the future, we'll look back on this and laugh. But not necessarily at the show in question. I'm not helping am I? Ooh look - the ghost of Eric Morecambe!

Phil Robinson

Judging by the number of comments here, if you can get this on to YouTube it will be worth it purely for the engagement metrics on your channel!

AdamMcAdamface

He was OK twice in Doctor Who tho I expect many were hoping he got turned into a Cyberman 2nd time. Oddly he was basically playing the straight man to Matt Smith.

Graeme Robertson

oh its fine me n kb have absolutely not been messaging each other over the last 24 hours about it no no no ....ahem

Craig McCulloch

*Peeks head around door to see comments...* Oh. *Closes door gently and steps outside for a bit*

Phil Robinson

Never liked this show, have seen a few episodes with family, but found it unfunny. It was a show designed for a prime-time slot on the BBC - so whilst it's appeal is quite large - as it's a chuckle a long show (even if it's not for me) - it was never really meant to be outlandishly funny. The other shows you've reacted to are late night shows - usually on after 10pm. Much prefer these. Good think you are doing Thick of it!

muu041

Keep at it KB, I think you will enjoy in the long run. Also as others have said this would be great with QB.

Phil Gilbert

They just met "in the flesh" but they've been talking for...either months or weeks I can't remember, so it's not quite the same as just met

R Lawrence

More depressing than funny it seems so far. People are so unhinged, it's scary.

Josh

Now that's how you make a reaction video. one with the most votes became the one with the most comments on all of your reactions put together. Roll on episode 2 or should i say round 2 DING!🔔 DING!🔔

Bubbles

its difficult as she is so busy with princess - only reason shes not on more

Craig McCulloch

exactly!

Craig McCulloch

"I think most of the comments are from the Reform voter Sam." -unfortunately.... and Julian yes this is an autocratic rule under the king no place for politics - as KB has said many times. KB has stated he hates politics so keeping them out of somewhere you come for a laugh , lets keep it that way and have fun

Craig McCulloch

Must be quite lonely up there in your ivory tower

Toast

This was at a time where I didn’t think James Corden was a dick, so I can watch this. But anything else he does, he can do one lol

Frizz

You should watch this one with Queen Boomer

TravellingBlade

👋 hi

Martin N

Checked back, and it's already at 330 comments! I love how a simple comedy show can elicit such vitriol and argument. This Gavin and Stacey reaction is almost as divisive as Brexit! 😂

Jay

You've been on the ball with most of your comments Sam, but you dropped the ball on this one. The Stereophonics were shit 😉

Martin N

Sam is correct.

Martin N

one for the queen

mike scott

Feck me, you must have some time on your hands to be making all these comments, it's always the ones throwing the most insults who need to take a long hard look in the mirror I find.... You abhorrent little c*nt.

Mark Jones

No he didn't, why comment if you obviously haven't seen the show? Although I can see from all your replies today you're just a worthless trolling tosser with nothing of any worth to add to any reply, so there is that....

Mark Jones

Very aware

Craig McCulloch

Patrick Stewart? Have you seen that video? PS was fucking wasted and made a fool of himself. I'm not a JC fan, but that one was embarrassing from Patrick's perspective.

Jamie

Yup, I love it and I'm a dude. It's a big hearted show with broad & also some subtle humour that I think is going over the heads of the weirdoes who are very angry for some reason.

Jamie

The dude's also prattling on about wokeness and 'two tier' shite.

Jamie

Get the Queen on it😀

Daniel Poole

Well, statistically there are quite a lot of those, but we should try to keep politics out of it.

Julian T

Should ask queen boomer to watch this series with you I think she would enjoy it

Bullee

Thank you for sharing this now I can block them too

JJ M

I think most of the comments are from the Reform voter Sam.

Jamie

I think the only person you're successfully ridiculed is yourself, Sam.

Jamie

I hope you don't have a family or anyone to care for

Jamie

Yes the BBC proper didn’t want to recommission it as it’s just a risk to bring back old stuff and it’s not frequently done. Doug said he completely understood that and acknowledged it’s difficult to get back on once you’re off. Dave is still owned by the BBC.

Kieran B

'woke', 'two tier', weird BBC hate... are you messaging from a 30 month stretch?

Jamie

It's way easier to criticise things than give praise.

Jamie

Yeah and Boomer directly responded.

Jamie

The last 3 postings: Black Books - 14 comments Blackadder - 27 comments Gavin and Stacey - 309 comments 😂

Julian T

He didn’t show the world. Some of us have never read one article or seen one headline about him being a muppet. Some of us don’t get our news from Facebook or celebrity gossip sites.

Julian T

There's loads to he fair mate. I've just noticed the poll from which gavin and Stacey was chosen. I think the issue was there was about 20 options and all had 4%-7% cos there were lots of choices. I think if gavin and Stacey were in a smaller poll it would have had less votes than others. I guess each to their own lol. I'm just praying miranda and Mrs browns boys don't get on a poll 🤣

Sam Vimes

this is before he was hated. this show made his career XD

the_greenlion

didnt you already have 1 comment deleted lol and you woke up and posted again, that is an obsession and a half

Dairychoco

You forgot George & Mildred, Rising Damp, Shelley & Minder.

Jason Bonner

There’s 2 of us that can ban too (it’s up to Kb ultimately) but don’t worry we do keep an eye on the comments

Craig McCulloch

hes hated because he became a big headed twat.fans don't matter or anyone else anymore its all about him narcissistic behaviour he thinks he's god

Chris Hewlett

Well I’m not a Gavin and Stacey fan, but ironically enough like James Corden - none of your ‘jokes’ were funny…🤷🏻‍♂️

Craig McCulloch

You're only 50% insane then 🤣

Sam Vimes

Cracking show. Easy watching and very enjoyable.

Paul Archibald

Wasn't a fan even before james cordon became hated..I liked him in TTIAO at first...Will give it a go again but if I still don't like it I'll skip it and hope the king and others enjoy it

Paul Liversage

He's up there with huw Edwards as "national treasure" material. Well known to be a bully on set.

Sam Vimes

Wow, you need help. What a vile individual you are

Beccy

I agree I just like winding up gavin and Stacey fans...haven't had the chance for years lol. Although I do genuinely dislike cordon so many people saying he was a bully to crew on this show and in true beeb style it was covered up.

Sam Vimes

Yeah sure, can do that too - but seriously, if those don't want to watch a reaction to a certain show. Don't press play. No need to bitch about it!

Lee

Definitely more the sort of thing QB would enjoy. It’s a sweet, funny little story. Not something I’d suggest watching all on your own in your case.

Jamie Edwards

Deliberate sabotage ? Just couldn’t let it alone could you ? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 One to give a bye for me but each to their own I always thought it was a bag o shite by the way well before Corden showed the world how much o a baw bag he is

Toast

Honestly this show drags

Rob webber

James cordon isn’t Welsh though, besides the point I’m not one of those people who hates him with all my might😂 I can enjoy Gavin and Stacey as many others from my local area still do!

Cal

It's an ok show, but there are no scenes I can think of where I really want to see his reaction, so if he enjoys it, that's cool, but I'm not that interested in watching it a second time.

Tom

Imagine calling someone nonsy for not liking the same tv programmes as you. Too much .

Erica

The comments are exactly as expected lol. I personally find modern James Corden to be pretty insufferable but Gavin and Stacy is not a bad show and I feel a lot of people are piling their current opinions on Corden onto the show a little unfairly.

Menty

I cannot believe this actually won the poll.

[Cykoid]

Lol if you read my comments they're mostly jokes. Although I should have realised gavin and Stacey fans would struggle with the concept 😅

Sam Vimes

It's basil daughter running the hotel. Being played by Cleese real life daughter. But johm Cleese himself has talked about how and why the current ultra woke bbc won't touch him but if you can give me examples of all the recent bbc comedies I'm listening

Sam Vimes

Trash. You’re welcome to it.

Dan the man

One Foot in the Grave. Awesome shout, mate! 🏆 I'm re-watching that right now for around the 12th time. I don't believe it!

Jason Scade

That’s the Second Severn Crossing bridge AKA the Prince of Wales bridge over the river Severn that separates south Wales and England, was opened in 1996 and was constructed 30 years after the Severn bridge that’s a bit further up the river. It’s part of the M4 motorway that goes from London to about two thirds of the way through south Wales.

Gavin

It may be stupid to not listen to it on those grounds I haven't decided yet, but please don't say someone "being a bit shitty", which literally refers to all of us at some point, is comparable to someone being a pdf file.

R Lawrence

Compare The Meerkat.

Grady Parsons

A view that doesn't need to be expressed if it's irrelevant to the film or programme (such as if they think something is shit).

Grady Parsons

Actually we have and he is aware - dont worry, thats not the level of muppetism condoned in this Patreon. This is for everyone to come and laugh enjoy and get to be a bit nostalgic with people they dont know but would be friends with IRL if they did.... Its not for that

Craig McCulloch

Ahh diddums. Neither of you had to read my post. I think you two were made for each other - keyboard warriors bravely abusing strangers from the safety of your your parents' houses ! 😂😂.

South Coast Rich

It is the greatest guitar solo of all time because it fits the song so perfectly I think of Beat it as a Michael Jackson song but all I’m thinking is I want that Eddie Van Halen guitar solo!! is my favourite ever solo and you are being foolish to not listen to it on those grounds… heard plenty of shitty stories about Eddie as well.. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’d listen to it as a kid dancing around the living room not knowing what a guitar was , listening to my sister’s copy of thrille. I then spent way too many hours learning it in my bedroom on the guitar as teenager

Craig McCulloch

Well I will have to prove you wrong there cus I like Gavin and Stacey and I hate Eurovision 😂

Andy H

I'm not a huge fan of the show - it has its moments, but it won the poll fair & square. Having said that - I haven't watched it for a long time, so I'm going into the reaction with an open mind. It will be good fun to rediscover it and see what you think. I don't like Corden as a person but that doesn't detract from him being very watchable on screen. I'm happy you're reacting to Spaced and The Thick of It, two shows I much prefer but also happy to see you're doing this. It has a huge following in the UK and a loyal fanbase. It's certainly an important part of our comedy heritage. So it will be a great addition to your channel. Going to watch it now!

Duncan Hart

Scottish streamer / comedian / YouTuber Limmy has a hatred for Corden that's like something from the tribal hatred of 'The Last of the Mohicans'. 😂😂😂 And he tortures himself by watching clips of Corden on YT and analyzing the things C does that makes Limmy hate him so. So funny. Painfully so, once you are into Limmy's humor.

Jason Scade

😂 I heard The Big Man disnae put up wi' any pish. 😂

Jason Scade

As A.P. would put it, "Simples.".

Jason Scade

@ThetaSigmaTheOriginal Top point, bro! I'm not a fan of Clarkson at all but I enjoy KB watch his stuff, oddly. The Steve Coogan show 'Saxondale' has one episode where (amazing!) UK comedy actor Alexander Armstrong is the guest for that ep and he plays (very obviously) Jeremy Clarkson - but is re-named in the show for legal reasons. It's highly amusing.

Jason Scade

I’ve certainly rewatched it plenty over the years

Kieran B

Yeah and so re-watchable.

Jason Scade

This is something I NEVER understood about this show..most of the people I met who liked it were either Welsh, obese or had absolutely no social life.. its like they only liked it cos they saw themselves on telly. I'm not a cockney or a tat man or in space but love only fools , steptoe and red dwaf. I never understand why gavin and Stacey attracted so many people that were similar to the characters. Totally bizzare. Find a female gavin and Stacey fan and I'll give you 1-100 she's either fat or Welsh and probably loves Eurovision 🤣

Sam Vimes

What exactly would the point of making a "new" fawlty towers when the entire cast is dead except for John Cleese, Connie Booth and Prunella Scales. Booth retired from acting almost 30 years ago and Scales had to retire due to her deteriorating health. Ignoring all of that the BBC did not "turn down" Cleese, that whole thing came from an interview where he was asked if he wanted to work with the BBC and he responded "No, because you wouldn't get the freedom" As a long time fan I can confidently say that Cleese also has not written anything of worth in 30+ years.

SnakeYikes

Speak for yourself mate I'm NOT obese or Welsh. Although let's be honest most gavin and Stacey fans are 🤣

Sam Vimes

Don't do it! You'll catch monkey pox and become woke! Next week you'll be saying "just stop oil" and pretending your a girl!

Sam Vimes

You tells him mate! SICK of these bridge wankers in the comments! "Ohh yes it was built in 1707 by sir Reginald fartington" trying to educate us against our will!!!

Sam Vimes

Did he play an obese smug slightly thick man by any chance? 🤣

Sam Vimes

You didn't watch black adder!!! A pox on you sir! Boooo booooooo i say!

Sam Vimes

That escalated Quickly 🤣

Sam Vimes

I wasn't aware of a poll. But I'd suggest Dad's army , goodnight sweetheart, some mothers do Ave em , young ones, operation good guys , steptoe, the office, yes minister, men behaving badly over gavin and Stacey

Sam Vimes

Come on everyone loved smithy back in the day! Why would they hate the character now even if the actor is not to everyone’s taste.

Stephen Giles

To be fair be said Wales is less glamorous...and well...he ain't wrong...🤣

Sam Vimes

you're literally just reinforcing the idea that KB should ignore schizo's who write 2000 words and just watch the shows he wants to watch by typing stuff like this lol, thanks for the entertainment though, if the comments on every episode are gonna be this funny then thats all the more reason to continue the series lmao

Dairychoco

Because gavin and Stacey fans are CLEARLY spawn of Satan! "All evil needs to succeed is for good men to not mock gavin and Stacey " weeeeell NOT on my watch sir! Poo pooo to gavin and an extra steamy poo 💩 for Stacey!

Sam Vimes

It took me a while but I love it now … Gavin and Stacy may be the named characters but it James C and Ruth J who are so outrageous! Queen B would love it

Jan sutton

Nonsense! Thess gavin and Stacey people MUST be mocked! Mocked I say!! Mock some sense into em!!

Sam Vimes

It's important to know how to escape the Welsh before they force you to watch Rob brydon

Sam Vimes

So much for the Welsh to be proud of...Joe calzaghe, Catherine zeta jones, Richard Burton, stereophonics, roald Dahl , Anthony Hopkins , ...giving life to james cordon career isn't worthy 😅

Sam Vimes

Also you might of seen Dave Coaches in Harry Potter Films.

DJGRAY1 Music And Comedy

You thought Benidorm was too much like a soap opera? Ha, strap yourself in, dude, you've got scenes coming up that might as well be straight out of EastEnders!

David Lyons

Probably more accurate to say he was on his way to becoming one, because this is just at the brief window after Gavin and Stacy but before he got big overseas. he was really well liked, did a lot of stuff like voicing the gruffalo film, did a really popular West End play (1 man 2 guvnors), had a no 1 hit song with the world cup anthem etc. Then he made his move to the states, fame got to his head and it was harder for him to keep his behaviour behind closed doors so people realised what an annoying guy he actually is. Happened in the space of 3-4 years

Rach

I definitely won't be leaving, or even complaining, because you're reacting to Gavin and Stacey, but I am one of those people who finds James Corden completely unwatchable. He makes my skin crawl. I never quite understood the appeal of this show either - I only watched a couple of episodes before giving up because it wasn't even making me smile, let alone laugh - but obviously it has a pretty big fanbase! It will be interesting to learn of your opinion KB.

James Mulligan

Also bbc turned down john Cleese new faulty towers. Can only imagine their reaction to the lorrreta scene or stoning from life of Brian now...Gary Lineker would probably go on a jihad

Sam Vimes

You can literally Google the writers of red dwaf talking about how BBC wouldn't give them a new series when it moved to Dave...

Sam Vimes

Well done Boomer we have Karen's in the UK to lol,

DJGRAY1 Music And Comedy

Being the best comedy in uk in last 20 years is like being the best looking woman in west brom...nothing to be proud about 🤣 although you're ofcourse correct taste is different for everyone. The same people who like gavin and Stacey tend to love Eurovision for example 🤣

Sam Vimes

Been really looking forward to this reaction!

Aaron

I know comedy is subjective but anyone who who doesn't find the IT Crowd, Peep Show or Black Books funny should not be taken seriously or should see a doctor!

BigChanChan

Anyone reckon Sam vimes don’t like the show, ain’t seen him mention it?

Aaron

Then shove hot needles into your balls to really annoy people...that'll show em 🤣

Sam Vimes

“Because I know about it” and you expect us just to go along with that. Who are you? Why are you important? Were you there when it happened? How about you give us a list of movies and tv shows that we can watch with our conscience intact. I’d hate to accidentally endorse a Hollywood satanist, whatever that is. And if a news story breaks in the future I’ll take it at face value when it happens. Life is difficult enough without having to predict the future news headlines.

Julian T

Just discovered you can block people on here... Goodbye Sam Vimes the Tommy Robinson fan... I won't miss seeing the nonsense that dribbles out of your mouth.

Chris

Grow up.

Chris

It gets better. It's very funny in places. Lots of very UK centric references which may go unnoticed but that's balanced out by some more accessible funny stuff. Worth sticking with because the Xmas special is the best episode

Chris

Why do people come onto this reaction and say how much they hate the show. I'm no fan of The IT Crowd, Peep Show or Black Books but I don't feel the need to go onto those reactions and say how much I don't like them. And for those saying they'll leave Patreon due to it been on here, that's seriously sad! G and S is an ok show, but not worth unsubscribing over...

Mackem

Missed opportunity in the intro to use music from The Omen like when Rodney looks at Damien ;P

David Lyons

People will think I'm being horrible. But the honest truth is before we found out fat ass cordon was a total wanker the only people I met who liked this plop were 1. Fat people who saw cordon as their chosen one 3. Middle aged couples who thought an exciting weekend end was watching ant n Dec 4. Welsh people desperate for anything Welsh on telly

Sam Vimes

Saxondale is fantastic and sadly a bit overlooked

Kieran B

I would love Dad's Army reaction. Ideally with QB and PB because it such a family, intergenerational show. Everyone gathers to watch it.

Stephen Morris

Dave is owned by the BBC

Kieran B

Nope he was famously a cunt to the gavin and Stacey crew too. In true bbc style it was covered up until recently...even fatty james cordon admitted so...

Sam Vimes

2nd hand stories from everyone who's worked with him saying he's a bullying horrible tosser yeah lol. Also tried to bully sir Patrick Stewart live on air..absolute tub of balls.

Sam Vimes

There are more of us. I have mainly liked him, apart a week moment early on when he was a bit self indulgent. But I haven't followed his career closely.

Stephen Morris

Congratulations. You thought Jack Whitehall in Fresh Meat was divisive, you’ve found the boss level of unliked British comedian personalities. Gavin and Stacey is the thing that put James Corden on the map, and it’s not bad quite nostalgic… it’s the acorn that built the Corden oak tree that came after

Sam Dilks

Calling Benidorm glamorous is insane lol. Barry Island is paradise compared to Benidorm

Sam Dilks

Unfortunately tho mate as we hit the mid 2000s BBC got woke along with others. Miranda Hart falling over repeatedly? My family making everyone gay or slapstick stupid? It really did kill uk comedy. In 2024 telling the wrong joke in England can get you arrested. We basically have blasphemy laws under two tier kier mate. KB still has LOADS to react to. One foot in the grave , steptoe and much more. But anything from last 20 years? It's truthfully poor...look how popular red dwaf is...bbc wouldn't take it..Dave had to bring it back whilst bbc gave us unfunny middle class plop.

Sam Vimes

I think the main thing that's unique about this show is a culture clash between the Welsh and Essex characters. Rare to see that dynamic explored in other shows. I hope this show adds to your interest in british culture.

Chaitra

It’s really not that deep dude

TJCrisp

Guessing your not a fan of the show 😂. God forbid people like different things 😂 . It's the most watched comedy in the past 20 years in the UK so there's a lot of people who do like it.

Andy H

He absolutely was NOT a national treasure wtf you on mate? 🤣🤣

Sam Vimes

Apart from gavin and Stacey which was like marmite he tried to do fantasy football and basically come across like a twat. Couldn't cope with fan banter. I'd never really paid much attention. I'd put him as a far less likable version of paddy McGuiness from max and paddy. But then I saw him on that award ceremony where he annoyed sir Patrick Stewart. Now most don't know the back story. Sir Patrick had seen fatso cordon being rude to staff and arrogant all night. Then when sir Patrick went to get his award Fatso james cordon was talking loudly behind him whilst sir Patrick was trying to talk. By then cordon was already getting a reputation for being an insufferable that. He then waddled off to America where his accent got him far until they too discovered he is an insufferable twat and according to multiple Co stars including gavin and Stacey a bully.

Sam Vimes

James Corden started off pretty liked in the UK. Smithy (his character) was huge. He was on Comic Relief (charity raising night) and this is probably where his ego got the better of him and then he got the gig in the USA

Daniel Simpkins

Name the top three funniest comedies that were't in the last poll?

Jason Bonner

Hmm you sure you didn't develop dementia whilst watching ? 🤣

Sam Vimes

Just FYI Great Britain doesn't share a land border with Ireland, The UK does...The Republic of Ireland in an EU member and therefore shares and land border. But thanks for your input.

Jason Bonner

LMFAO good one...oh you're not being serious are ya? 🤣

Sam Vimes

Those aren't the "new" species of men are they? 😅...the ones with a..actually I'd better stop. I'm already looking at life In jail for my mother in law jokes 😫

Sam Vimes

ok well no one cares about your attention your money or your moral perogative, you are no one just like king boomer is no one just like james cordon is no one, begone

Dairychoco

Ugggh you went down this route, new mind you,ll be switching it off soon anyway

Jay D

Although I agree ya wanna be careful mate. Kier will have you arrested for terrorism for talking about your wife's mates like that in 2024 🤣 I'm probably getting 500 years for it once my mother in law finds out the new terrorism laws in England 🤣

Sam Vimes

Never watched it. Simply can't stand walking tub of lard james cordon...also why are all his uk fans fatties? Every james cordon fan I've met is obese usually with a big fat Mrs too...odd..the type of people in uk who like this usually think Eurovision song contest is amazing...

Sam Vimes

It's personally not my favourite show, but James Corden is actually really good in this. As is Ruth Jones and the supporting cast (who are the real stars of the show!)

AdamMcAdamface

Thanks very much for posting this. I have trouble sleeping at night, but your status should help me sleep soundly tonight...

Mackem

There's quite literally no evidence whatsoever for anything you claim. Everyone was trying to be nice about the absolutely insane things you are saying but I will put it simply. Shut the fuck up and leave. You didn't need to write an extra 400 words. You said you were leaving so do it. Absolutely nobody wants, needs or deserves to deal with the shit you are spouting.

SnakeYikes

I know men who love it, and I've seen men commenting who love it too

Beccy

Behave. G&S is decent... Benidorm was absolutely shite tho I'll give you that.

Wayne2605

I LOVE Saxondale!!

Beccy

Isn't it shocking that people share different opinions?! 🤔 seriously, no need to announce your departure!

Beccy

Seriously get help

Beccy

''everyone i dont like is a pedophile'' he said on some random guys patreon because he watched some random show from 20 years ago, so glad i stumbled on this comment before it got deleted wow

Dairychoco

I reckon you should do all the episodes and specials just to wind up people haha

Lee

Just from your comments you are clearly 2/4, the rest remains to be seen.

SnakeYikes

The humor gets better. Pilot set the foundation and it gets great. You'll fall in love with the rest of the characters soon

Chris Silverthorne

This show is even weaker than Benidorm for comedy... It's Benidorm lite set in less glamorous Wales... I'd be amazed if he sticks with this!

BigChanChan

Just FYI we don't share a land border with the EU. The only place Great Britain shares a land border with is Ireland.

SnakeYikes

Please seek help. No matter the person, who they are, what they have/haven't done there is absolutely no logical reason for why you should be writing an 800 word essay in a patreon comment section.

SnakeYikes

The only people away from Patreon in real life lol that like this are women!... My wife and all of her cackling mates loved it but I've honestly never met a man who's watched or at least admitted to watching it 🤔

BigChanChan

It's a really good show and gets better and better comedy wise and the story is good aswell. James Corden is very good in it even though in real life I don't like him either.

Andy H

wow this is genuine schizophrenic posting, just watch something else bro you're not a main character

Dairychoco

To be fair I can fully appreciate and understand the childish comments haha but the hate directed at KB and people been rude (to each other as well as ) is pissing me of

Craig McCulloch

also KB that intro you did there, need to work that tune and little sequence into some kind of Victorian/ Jack the Ripper style intro video!! 🤣

Dave L

Yeah he was seen as a national treasure before he went to the US, think people forget that because they can only see 'post-fame' Corden, and fair enough tbh, fella turned out to be a prat

Rach

Gavin and stacey is class, so much appeal with other characters and the whole package , if you don't like Corden... can't knock the show which was written by Corden and Jones, obviously won't be everyones cup of tea but its hugely popular and coming back this year King Boomer for a Xmas special. The Corden hate is a weird thing, he's only to my knowledge accused of being rude to some people, like many a celebrity then lol, not excusing it but the hatred seems to be rather out of proportion/ over the top, it's not like he is known or accused of hurting people!

Dave L

Overrated shite. Next!

Phoenix

I mean this sincerely and not in a drama provoking way, seek help from a doctor. James Corden is not a nice man, and although there's no reason to think so at the moment, he may even be a nonce behind closed doors, some people are. But this is beyond a rational dislike of the man, it's genuinely the result of an unwell mind. Please at least consider talking to someone professional about this.

Rach

I'm here for the comments

Craig Day

The series gets better and funnier as it goes on. You're correct that they're just scene with the characters. This was before James Corden turned into a massive twat but you have to separate the two because he was genuinely really good in this and he's a great character.

Daryl

Love corden or hate him this show was great love gavs mum and Bryn

Dango247

I do think this reaction would would be a good show for Queen B to watch also 🤞

Ryan Mitchell

It's a great show especially if you know the difference between somewhere like Barry Island and Essex. James Corden is brilliant in it before he turned to shite. Gets funnier as it goes on.

Andy Hayden

It’s worth watching even for just rob brydon and the Gran.. both hilarious

MarkC

its a very good show (some of the time), but not really a comedy - all the characters are good though at least

J

So excited for Spaced and The Thick of It! Brilliant shows! Gavin & Stacey? Hmm. I'll be interested to see how you get on with this. I must admit I kind of enjoyed it back in the day but I never watched it a second time (possibly the James Corden factor). I would class it more as a gentle romantic comedy / drama type show. So you may not laugh out loud as much with this one. A lot of jokes derive from the English vs Welsh culture clashes, so not sure if they will land with you. The two main characters provide the sweet wholesome moments, and all the side characters provide the humour. Rob Brydon in particular is one of the highlights.

Tim Mountford

Gavin and Stacey is great and I think you'll love it. It's one of my favourites.

Daniel Simpkins

Don’t think this show is for you. Goodnight Sweetheart with Nicholas Lyndhurst in is more up your street.

Chris Garratt

I’m not sure the comedy element (Brynn aside) will be enough for KB. Remember what’s gone before, and what really got KB creasing. He’s more Matt Berry than James Corden. I’m not going to suggest Toast of London again though am I?

matthew edmonds

James West

do you want to borrow my violin rich, you wrote a boring post, calm down butter cup

c

0/4 for you rich, well done pal

c

James cordon I'm pretty sure he was liked before he went to America maybe wrong? But I don't see what's wrong with him I like him

Adam Dowman

😀Thanks

Adrian Lelland

Are you not enjoying Fresh Meat or Mid Morning Matters or The Day Today?

Jason Scade

You did see the poll? Vicar of Dibley and Mr Bean were on it...I'm surprised Mrs Browns boys and Heil Honey I'm Home wasn't listed too.

Jason Bonner

Which shows are 'universally' hated? Which are not well known? If you were born before 1990 and had a TV in the UK you would have heard of all of the shows KB is reacting to as they were all on Terrestrial channels (bar partridge's Mid Morning Matters). Maybe KB should just rerun Only Fools and Horses on a loop as it very well known.

Fordy7169

Don't worry Adrian, c is clearly rather depressed, ignorant and possibly unpleasant and thick too. I had a similar reply from them too.

South Coast Rich

We didn't mind Corden when while this was shown in the UK. It was after when he became a big name we all started to hate him. It was a great show and smithy was a great character

Miss_dash

c, you're clearly a very unhappy and ignorant person - going to the effort to make an unkind comment to me, a stranger to you, regarding my innocent , non-offensive , (if boring to some), post. And not just to me either.

South Coast Rich

What an absolute C*nt! 🤣

Mark Jones

All these new shows are not good, looks like I’ll have to leave and come back when they are good again. I can’t believe anyone are voting for these. They are either universally hated or not well known.

Jasmine Carpenter

Haha, it is a big "if". That said, he wasn't such a douche back here. It was after this when the fame went to his head that he changed. I think Smithy's a bit of a nobhead himself albeit he is arguably more likeable than Corden! 😃

Ash Jeffries

I’ve been a massive comedy fan pretty much my whole life, form being a kid comedy was my obsession - particularly stand up, sitcom and comedy dramas. I love the most intelligent, incisive and witty comedy, I love the surreal and sublime - and I love Gavin and Stacey too. It’s more gentle and warm, but has some great writing. Some seem to compare it Mrs Brown but it’s nowhere near as broad as that. Hopefully you enjoy it, if you don’t you don’t, comedy is always subjective. The Corden stuff seems a bit overblown, yeah he’s had some moments of being a bit of a dick but all we know really is second hand stories, the extent to which people hate him you’d think they’d personally been attacked by him.

Kieran B

0:25 That horror movie music. 😂 It was like Partridge's self-made jingle from Mid Morning Matters about going to work on Monday mornings. I can't stand James Corden either but I'll give this show a shot, have never seen it. I like Ruth Jones a lot, she is in an excellent sitcom with (and by) Steve Coogan called 'Saxondale'. You'd love it, KB. Coogan plays Saxondale who is an ex-music roadie, whose heyday was the 70s. He's now in his 50s, has a gf who is about 15 years younger than him (Ruth Jones) and owns and runs his own small business of pest extermination. He's always banging on about the glory days and all the famous bands he's worked with and partied with and like's to think he's still a wild rebel. But really he's a middle aged man who likes to get his feet into slippers after a shift. Lots of social cringe situations as you'd expect. But Saxondale isn't a complete arse like Partridge is, Sax is very likeable. (And only an arse on the odd occasion). There's only two series and about 14 eps in total. I'd recommend it to you for sure. Edit: Another hilarious Saxondale element is he has anger management issues and has been ordered to attend anger management classes weekly (which we see). And he usually loses his temper once in each episode, his ranting and raving is funny.

Jason Scade

Well said KB. No one is forcing him to watch. People are so damn entitled 😂

Beccy

I regard Eddie van Halen's solo in the Michael Jackson song "Beat it" which song he also rearranged for Jackson, as the greatest guitar solo of all time, yet I haven't allowed myself to listen to it for ages because I regard Jacksons accusers as credible and I can't separate the artist from art with him anymore I just can't...yet losing that song and solo does kill me...Maybe if I just think of it as EVH's song...I don't know.

R Lawrence

It's no surprise that two of my (English) Uncles ended up marrying Welsh women.

Jay

I refused to watch this show for a long time due to James Corden, but watched it in rehab where it was one of the few box sets available. it's decent rather than side splittingly funny and it is more about the love story with a bit of humour thrown in.

Waldemar

"If you can get past the hate for real life James Corden" - that is a big friggen 'if' there Ash haha. I threatened to disown KB if he ever did this but seemed like a self fulfilling prophecy and after the last poll the writing was on the wall

Craig McCulloch

the hate for james really ruins this for me, but ill try again

Jed Baker

When it won the vote, I thought people were trolling... But it does look like some people actually enjoy this.

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

Also to answer your question, that's the Severn Bridge, the main way to get to Wales by road from the South of England. Used to be really expensive to use.

Rach

Agreed, I can’t stand him now, but this show made him. I’ve watched this show a million times.

Graham Goldberg

pretty sure James Cordon was good in this.. it was afterwards when the fame went to his head that he started shitting on the little people and his co-stars.. and that was what turned everyone against him

Markos

Nothing, this show made people like him, he only became a cunt after the success of this show went to his head.

JokerDanny

Ive never had a prob with corden hes just a celeb with an ego. Never armed me so dont see the problem.

Johnnyenglish

the bridge was the severn bridge which runs from Wales to England, also known as the Prince of Wales bridge

Bikeaholic

Count Arthur Strong? A show outdated the minute it was written? Malapropisms only have so much mirth

Jamie

'grin a bare'

Jamie

This show has an easy going warmth that I love, possibly helped by living in Kent for most of my life but also family in Swansea. Rob Bryden elevates this, and it is possible to like the show and dislike Corden :-)

Owen Prosser

only one here who dosent hate or dislike corden.

ObtuseZeus

I was going to say the same thing. Where would it get us anyway 🤔

Graham Goldberg

Like you King Boomer, I love the Welsh. Its a generalisation of course, but I think that Wales has the nicest and friendliest people of the four UK countries, and the prettiest women too. I may be biased though as although I'm English, my girlfriend is Cardiff born and bred. 🤗♥️ the nicest people

South Coast Rich

Is this the most comments for a Patreon reaction video? 🤔😀

Graham Goldberg

If you can get past the hate for real life James Corden, this is a great show. It's sweet, undemanding, unpretentious, doesn't claim to be edgy or highbrow. Gavin and Stacey are the sweet, serious side to the series while Nessa and Smithy (also the writers Ruth Jones and *cough, cough* Corden) are much more cynical, dysfunctional, humorous. For me, the real appeal is everyone else. You will get to know them all but there is such a terrific supporting cast and quite honestly, it's Gavin and Stacey's family and Nessa and Smithy's friends that really glue this series together and make it more than it could be. I would say it definitely improves as it goes on, but don't expect a massive tonal shift. The first episode sets the scene well, and you're either on board or you're not. The humour is kind of eccentric and wholly down to earth all at once. It's about the English vs Welshisms but it's firmly rooted in character, not too many outright "gags" and zero one-liners. You laugh at the character more for who they are rather than what they say although there is some cracking dialogue too, not gonna lie... 😃 I'm not a fan of Corden in real life but I love Ruth and this cast enough to overlook that. 😎

Ash Jeffries

I can change the name to “Dan the banned” if he really wants me to. It was the most voted show in the poll and it’s just a television show dude. Go outside and take a breath of fresh air ffs.

Brian Moran

I’ll be honest, although i wouldn’t vote for this, it’s a pretty good show if you can ignore Corden’s real life behaviour. Most probably don’t care about that anyway. I think he’s pretty good in this but i don’t think he’s up there with Coogan, Gervais, Brydon etc in terms of just raw comedic talent, he doesn’t really make me laugh much, whereas Coogan can make me belly laugh with just pulling a face or saying a word a certain way. The only annoying thing about the show is that it’s played to death here in the UK, it seems to be on every night when scrolling through comedy channels, similar to The Office (which i love) it’s just a bit played out. But this is a pretty good show, the cast is good especially Brydon and Jones, who are the best characters in it to me. I’ll watch for KB’s reaction to it, I think he’ll enjoy it.

James Ellison

Count Arthur Strong was a comedy series?

Z is for Zed

Some people are acting like they are being forced to watch this 🤣 it's honestly quite simple - don't like, DON'T WATCH! There are plenty of other options! I don't get the hate and the rude, childish comments 🤷🏻‍♀️

Beccy

Btw, the cast of Gavin and Stacey are reuniting for one last episode - a Christmas Special for this December. Some of the cast have been spotted in Barry in recent weeks ! 👍

South Coast Rich

not even close to be rude, i'm great jamie, how are you doing this fine evening?

c

You do this???! And on my f**king Birthday of all days??!! Thats it I'm done!!

Craig McCulloch

The funniest thing is people who are not going to watch it coming into the comments. Personally I can’t stand Jeremy Clarkson and I don’t watch the top gear stuff, but I’ve never once gone into the comments to tell people.

Julian T

Whenever I watch Gavin and Stacey, I enjoy it, including here today, but it's not in my personal top five or ten of comedies. I wouldn't make a special effort to watch it if I saw that it was on. With those faves of mine though,, eg Partridge, The Inbetweeners, Peep Show, Dad's Army , The Brittas Empire, Fawlty Towers etc. , I rarely if ever tire of watching the repeats of those shows.

South Coast Rich

We knew this time would come. Grin and bare it I guess 😆

bdazzer85

It's a clever line from the show you hate

Jamie

Get it, I was trying not to offend by just saying that it connected England and Wales, the Welsh may not have liked the emphasis.

Adrian Lelland

Democracy ain't all it's cracked up to be. The Great British public voted for the £200M British Antarctic Survey ship to be named 'Boaty McBoatface', they voted to leave the largest trading zone on the planet that we share a land border with. We even voted to keep Honey G in the xfactor far longer than any talentless tone deaf vanilla ice wannabe should ever be allowed. But maybe on this occasion Gavin and Stacy is a better choice than 'Mum', 'Fleabag', 'Home', 'Pete Vs Life' or 'Count Arthur Strong' or any other comedy series that didn't even make it into the poll.

Jason Bonner

GROW UP! it's his channel and he can react to whatever he pleases! You have the choice not to watch it, don't be a bellend 🙄

Beccy

Don't be rude. You don't have to read everything you see. Are you okay?

Jamie

it was more the vice versa part pal

c

🤣🤣🤣

Beccy

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Cal

Yep, Rob Brydon is great as Bryn.

South Coast Rich

bore off mate, its a bridge connecting england to wales, thats all we needed.

c

I think you may warm to Nessa the more episodes that you watch. She has a kind heart underneath that rather aggressive and abrupt exterior !

South Coast Rich

grow up prick, there are numerous shows on here that i dont watch. you know that play button over the gavin and stacey episode. dont press it dan. simple really.

c

don't watch this then. I don't watch black adder or black books, but I don't complain about it

Dave Jones

I don’t think I was telling anyone how a bridge works, but KB wouldn’t know it connects England and Wales.

Adrian Lelland

🚽 🧹

Erica

thanks for telling us all how a bridge works

c

The bridge is the Severn bridge. Iconic for the show as you cross the river Severn to get from England to South Wales or vice versa.

Adrian Lelland

Dude, there are a lot of serious issues in the world. This is not one of them.

Julian T

This show is decent, not amazing but certainly not bad, I could re watch it, I'd also get QB on this aswell, hope all is well

Aaron

Haha can't even get through the first episode this time, oh well with Spaced and The Thick of It added this week I couldn't be happier, hope you enjoy it Boomer but we can't all like everything! 🤣

Mark Jones

ooo nice, happy to see this pop up in my notifications. Not had anything of interest show up since you finished IT Crowd.

Kieran1924

People putting Gavin and Stacy anywhere close to Mrs Brown's Boys is absurd, there is so much more subtlety in the writing of this. I get that it's not to everyone's tastes because of James Corden but look past him because it's the whip smart Ruth Jones that's really at the helm of this. Edit: to add that imo the show really gets going once the 2 families start interacting and the Culture clash kicks in

Rach

There are some series on here I don't like and I just wait patiently for the ones I do like and that's what people should do.

Little Jimmy

In my opinion the first season is the weakest, the rest are brilliant and the Christmas episodes are really Christmassy. There is a new episode this Christmas which will be the last ever. Enjoy King Boomer

Little Jimmy

"Dan the man" is "Dan the pussy" fuck you and your respect, go back to facebook stalking you noncy cunt.

Caine

Personally love this show, like someone else said most people just hate on it because they dislike James Cordon. Went through a similar situation as them and it's amazing how it feels when you finally meet, they capture that well imo.

Ryan

Absolute garbage, as is anything that comes within a billion miles of James ‘talentless fucker’ Cordon.

Dan the man

Somehow I never saw Cordon in anything but this and the History Boys so have never formed any hate. Seen a few episodes before and enjoyed this one so will deffo continue with the rest!

Skeletor

Nope. Absolutely not. Zero respect/credibility for you now KB. The devils bile. And f*cking James f*cking Cordon is the least funny fat f*cker alive. And you chose THIS over the Fast Show??? !!!🤮🤮🤮

Dan the man

You seem a bit out the loop mate

FRER Productions

Brilliant example. I just ignore the Top Gear stuff. Never considered 'having a go' about it

Jamie

James Corden was in another sitcom called 'Teachers' about 6 years before this and he was really funny in it, in fact the series is one of the cultiest of cult shows of all time, it's fecking hilarious but it went slightly under the radar, it also starred Andrew Lincoln before he became a big star in the states and he was simply amazing in it, I'd love to see you react to it one day down the line as it's full of insane muppetry of the finest order!!! It's basically The Inbetweeners but the teachers are the unruly muppets. seriously though, it's fecking awesome!!!!

Mark Jones

That bridge is the Second Severn Crossing. It carries the London to South Wales motorway, the M4, for over three miles over the Severn River Estuary between England, (near Bristol), and South Wales, (near Newport). Nice to drive along if you're ever in the area ! They've even stopped charging tolls. Meanwhile the main London to/from Newport, Cardiff and Swansea railway passes through a tunnel in this area, under the Severn. The tunnel is over four miles long and takes about three minutes for an express train to transit the tunnel. Barry Island, where Stacey and her family live, is about 10 miles south-west from central Cardiff , and has a lovely sandy beach. It lies on the northern shore of the Bristol Channel which is a western extension of the Severn Estuary as it broadens and eventually becomes the Atlantic Ocean further west off north Devon and south-west Wales. On most days, the hills of Somerset, about 15 miles away, on the other side of the Bristol Channel back in England, (eg the Quantock Hills and Exmoor), are clearly visible most of the time. it's about 150 miles between London and Cardiff, and about 40 miles to Bristol, again via the Second Severn M4 road crossing or the Severn Railway Tunnel by train. If you can't or don't want to use the M4 then you can take a much slower road close to the north bank of the Severn to the English city of Gloucester, and then radiate out across England or east Wales from there. Upstream from Gloucester the Severn becomes a non-tidal river as opposed to the tidal estuary downstream. The Severn Estuary and Bristol Channel have the second biggest tidal range ... In the world !!!

South Coast Rich

Martin Nercessian everybody

Jamie

No, meaning people who hate the show.

Jamie

Yup, it's a touching romance and a slice of UK life

Jamie

never really gave this one a go, I’ve seen plenty of short clips but never seen whole episodes, from what I saw I don’t like the character Nessa, i’ll watch a few and see how it goes,

Duncan

It was mentioned in this episode that were talking for 6 months before they met

Kieran B

Saying they'll leave patreon if he reacts to a show is a bully tactic.

Jamie

Not sure you know what bullying is but people can like and dislike the same thing. Show is bang average if that in my opinion. I won’t watch but I love Blackadder and anything with Partridge in

Chris

That's just not true, Mrs Brown boys I agree - but this is well written and more than a comedy

Mark Jephson

Nah definitely not a soap!

Beccy

It's a slow start, very much a set up episode, but it definitely gets loads better. Regarding the people who hate it, they just hate james cordon, but in reality in this show, when he was young, he was actually funny. He's become insufferable in his later years, but that shouldn't detract from this show. Gavin and Stacy is such a good portrayal of a snapshot of British life. Its so accurate. I think you will enjoy it and grow to love the characters.

GHKY HNeu

I remember watching this episode and getting excited, I thought it was going to be a cracker, especially as I'm Welsh, but I thought whilst it had plenty of funny moments I just never liked the two main characters, they never grew on me, nothing to do with Corden, and his mum is one of my favourite British actresses, she's incredible, so I'll give it another shot with you Boomer, see if the me of today likes if now, Brydon is superb in it though and I do love Ruth Jones too, but all the Welsh references mean nothing to me as I'm North Walian and everything in this is from deep South East Wales which might as well be a different country! 🤣

Mark Jones

Bryn is the best character IMO oh and Pam. As my dad is Welsh I’ll take the compliment 👏🏻 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 . My Welsh Aunty Jean was terrifying but also hilarious 😆 much fun . That song when they arrived in Londinium was by the Kooks now that was a cracking album. Plus that banger in the club took me back. 🎵 Severn bridge

Erica

You are reacting to so many great shows at the moment - Blackadder, Spaced, Alan Partridge - there is plenty to choose from if people aren't Gavin and Stacey fans. I don't see why someone would leave the Patreon because you have chosen to react to a show most people voted for! It's crazy 😂 I personally really like the show - yes I may have preferred something a bit different like Inside No. 9 or Black Mirror but I'm not going to sulk about it. Looking forward to watching this 🙂

ZedMC

Exactly! Don't like, don't watch, it really is that simple!

Beccy

I agree about it being over hated and over rated

Erica

Well said

Beccy

I honestly don’t know the issue/hate with this series , it is one of the most famous shows in the UK and a very good watch ! Keep going boomer ignore the haters ( I’m English but live less than 5 minutes from wales !)

Callum

🙄

Beccy

This. I thought it was massively overrated long before disliking Cordon was cool.

Z is for Zed

Booooooooooooooo

Ross stewart

Don't watch it then

Beccy

@ThetaSigmaTheOriginal Exactly this. I find it odd how some people can't go through life without trying to control every aspect of it, especially something as harmless and inconsequential as a reaction video. It's worrying that so many people get so precious about Youtubers/Patreon channels that they try and dictate everything that goes into them. The saying "Go touch some grass" seems to be quite appropriate.

Jay

He got more than just a finger KB 🤣

Beccy

I was expecting to see Red Dwarf in the notification not G&S, so that's a suprise haha! It somehow manages to be both overrated and over hated in my opinion but honestly, I think you'll enjoy it To me it's a watchable and at times funny, but not outstanding 3/5 show, however to a lot of people it's THE best UK comedy of the last 20 years. To others, they won't even give it a chance because of the James Corden association, each to their own... Only other thing I'll say, as others have mentioned, is that I would have thought it's one to watch with QB if her schedule allows for it... Enjoy!

ryung246

Oh no the comments will be funny 🤣

zStarr

Glad you decided to watch this! This is one I think QB would really enjoy. The love story is the “main” bit, but the humour comes from the weird relatable conversations from the side characters. I know it gets a lot of hate from a lot of people, but there’s so many shows on this Patreon it hardly matters if there’s one here and there that someone doesn’t like. I find there’s something for everyone here!

Beth

Love Gavin and Stacey, despite going off Cordon years later. The artist and the art can be separate. Great, nostalgic show.

Mike Currie

I was going to say exactly that. It's not really a comedy it's more of a melodrama

Richard Stokes

You really can't find something else to do for that one day a week? You lack imagination. :)

Jay

Worse than a finger..

Jon

People liaten to Coldplay and voted for the nazis....as they say In peepshow

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

You have to get Queen Boomer for this show

Richiep

Oh wow, OK great, just try the first episode, see how you feel.

Joe Thornhill

That spot you recognised is Trafalgar Square

Kieran B

I'm glad the haters haven't bullied you into not watching this

FRER Productions

Munter and Minger pretty much mean the same thing

Kieran B

In your opinion :)

Stephen Lee

A view is one thing, being a negative dick like some is another

Jamie

This is a great show. Ignore all the haters

Aaron Close

What ?

ConnorPlaysHD

:( lol

Stephen Lee

I wouldn't even tell myself how to live my life

Jamie

Nope.

Matthew Mosley

Ultimately from a sitcom first and foremost you want it to be FUNNY. Everything else is secondary

Yaapsdad

People like middle of the road stuff alot of the time whereas something that takes risks or is out there has a far smaller audience that like it precisely because it's less accessible. This is less threatening and will raise a chuckle but no where near as many belly laughs

Yaapsdad

Like most people i don't care for James Cordon but that it not why i don't like the show. its just.. eh.. a mid tier soap at most but hey that's just my opinion and i'm just some Scandi foreigner lol.

K Bruun Kristensen

Really! You have all these amazing british shows you could react to and you choose this. I just don't find this show funny at all

ConnorPlaysHD

It's not about having an opinion, it's about the angry, petty responses when it comes up for suggestion. I don't like Jeremy Clarkson. Can't stand the guy. But I simply skip reviews with Top Gear, etc. I don't act like a spoilt child. Other people like him, the world doesn't revolve around me.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

James Corden and Ruth Jones (Nessa) wrote this too

Kieran B

One to watch with Queen Boomer, she will love this

Mark Jephson

I think it's great that you didn't give in to the haters. Honestly I think that this channel should have something for everyone, not just the moaners who try and dictate what others should or should not watch. I agree with Tricky's comment, that I think this would be better as a joint reaction with Queen Boomer, as it's slightly more drama influenced.

Jay

They're still moaning about it.

Grady Parsons

Corden is a bit of a dick but he did some good stuff and this was a legit great show. He didn't break America by being mediocre. He literally took a coveted slot in late night and did numbers. I'm sure there will be a lot of hate in the comments but he is talented. This show is written by him and Ruth Jones (Nessa) and it deserves the flowers it has received.

Menty

Oh yes!!! Soo glad you're reacting to this. There's some comedy gold moments. There's a lot of haters but I think you'll find it hilarious. Especially when you meet Doris. You're right about the 1st episode. Its setting up the characters so you get to know what they're like. I wouldn't say it's drop dead funny all the way through but there's definitely a lot of funny moments in it.

Tim Phillipson

Bollocks. There's plenty of well written subtle stuff in this show. I think you've just written it off. The omelette camera zoom joke for instance is proper weird, and pretty far from 'lowest common denominator'.

Jamie

I'm not against this show as such. James Corden has proved himself in real life to be alot of negative things by all accounts. The reason I'm surprised this show is so popular is that it's very average. It's not really funny or particularly memorable. It's just an average show. Some funny bits . Some wholesome bits. Whereas there are many shows both on your recent poll and not, that are much funnier and much more entertaining in the acting, scripts and the whole premise

Yaapsdad

Don't worry, I think this was pre-terrible JC.

Will

Meaning people with a different view?

Chris

If you don't like it, shut up. It was the most voted for of the programmes.

Grady Parsons

Probably the most over rated series going in England. It’s not bad, a few good moments here and there but not great. I’d say it’s slightly better than Benidorm and mrs browns boys.

Chris

Do you really think that's an appropriate comment?

Grady Parsons

You brave, brave man. :P I haven't watched this, and I also don't have a problem with JC. So I'll check it out and watch your reactions too. Ignore any complaints. If they don't like it, they don't have to watch.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

He went into a bit of a cock . He was very likable at the time! Seen a few interviews back in the UK and He seems to be finding his feet agian

Reece Brown

“Minging” means disgusting. So if someone’s a Minger it means they’re ugly

JJ M

I’m calling the Big Man to sort you out! Expect a knock on the door Boomer 😠

Graham Rodgers

I love Gavin & Stacey but I’m not sure you will love it. It’s not laugh out loud all the time, hopefully you will love the characters. I think QB would like it more but I know she has a long list of shows and not a lot of time. If nothing else, it will help you to distinguish the Welsh accent from the Scottish accent as I know you had trouble with that when reacting to Rhod Gilbert 😂 Then again I was worried you wouldn’t get the humour in Phoenix nights and you did! Which made me very happy as a northerner. PS I love the Welsh too in fact I’m heading to north wales next week for a mini break 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

JJ M

James corden was a legend when this show came out, as soon as he steps foot across the pond he becomes a twat 🤣🤣

David fallows

As Stewart Lee said when JC went to your side of the pond, Britain's loss is America's loss.

Neal Murdoch

James Corden? What next, ISIS recruitment videos? Actually, I'd prefer that.

Jeffrey44

Can’t wait. What was wrong with James Corden when this show came out 🤔

Graham Goldberg

Definitely

Kieran B

What we call "lowest common denominator" comedy in the UK - on par with Mrs Brown's Boys or Miranda (slightly harsh, it's about 5% funnier than those). I'm sad there's going to be one day a week that I don't follow now

Domlaaa

Although everyone seems to hate Corden, the other characters in this are really good (Nessa, Pam, Mick, Uncle Bryn etc)

AWR93

This series is great! Gavin and Stacey are mostly quite boring/annoying (probably on purpose) but all the side characters really make it

Alex P

to be fair, if you where ever going to want to watch anything at all with james corden, im pretty sure this is the only exception and the only good one!

Matt Camburn

Gavin n Stacey is class, lots of people in real life are bellends doesn’t mean there bad at there jobs

Michael Oliver

Never been a fan of this show but I guess alot of people do like it.

Daniel Monney

yes. I'm so glad you didn't bend the knee, There is a lot of other actors and talent in this show that makes it really wholesome, no need to turn it away because of 1 person who went on to be a dick afterwards.

Dave Jones

The clips I’ve seen make it out like a soap opera rather than a sitcom. Anyone care to provide insight before I try and watch this?

Owen Rhodes

You should of done this with the queen

tricky D77

Yay!!!

Beccy

It's pretty silly writing this off because of JC. He's a decent actor and the series is quality.

Jamie

This makes me so happy! You didn’t give in to the haters 😂😂

Kathryn Edwards

😥
