Red Dwarf S9 Ep3 "Back to Earth 3" REACTION!

Comments

16:35 Do Janes dream of electric sheep?

Ash Allen

You should watch the BBC show Ghosts, it's really good.

QueenKennaofStormholt

Balls of steel. Thank me later

Showboat

U won’t get some of the cultural references on gavin and Stacy

Showboat

I think the main issues with this 3 part series/film is that it has a very similar plot to the League of Gentlemen film (2005, not 1960), so it felt like it had all been done before and indeed, perhaps better too.

LyingSecret

The league of gentlemen did a film called 'apocalypse ' where they meet their creators, and red dwarf has series 10,11,12 then 'the promised land' and word has it they are doing more, and also a prequel

Rob webber

Jane was defo watching that at some points

John Hastie

I'm an original Dwarfer from back in 1988, its without doubt my favourite TV show, I thought Back to Earth was "ok" !, after a 10 year wait I was just glad to have the guys back lol even if it was just to remind me of the good old days and being in my early 20s and Lister will always be my hero, once a Dwarfer always a Dwarfer smegheads :)

Steven Sjosten

This was my first time seeing RD s9, it was kinda meh. Looking forward to to s10, can't remember it. #Memento

Jason Scade

I would continue to do the polls, and not to make too much out of the whining and complaining. It's unfortunately common on social media these days, to feel entitled to something that person's way, all the time. Forgetting that there's other people too, with different tastes.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

I quite liked it...admittedly because Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Beil are in it. Don't compare the remake to the Arnie original.

Gary Mcatear

I am surprised Gavin & Stacy's in the lead. Not because I have seen the show (I haven't) but because of how many people here dislike it. But I'm down to watch it along with you. I don't have a strong dislike for JC. Same way I felt about jack whitehall in Fresh Meat. I don't get the angry comments though. If you don't like something, don't watch it. I can't stand Jeremy Carkson, so don't watch the Top Gear reactions. But that's no problem for anyone.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

The Total Recall remake is awful. (but Kate Beckinsale is stunning as always)

(Just) Steve

you should defiantly do league of gentlemen its not what you think it is its just wonderful and weird and i think you and especially the queen would love it

tricky D77

Lister goes on about Kichanski the way Simon from inbetweeners goes on about Carly. A good movie to watch would be the remake of Total Recall (British made) with Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Beil and Brian Cranston from Breaking bad. Kate Beckinsale is hot af and bad ass af.

Gary Mcatear

We love a moan and a poll, not like we're gonna kick a bag of puppies into the canal over it, the odd poll and vent is great, goes with a reactors territory surely. won't be watching G&S as it's everything i don't give a fuck about made into a tired farce.. . and JC. You love all that romance n shit, enjoy.

emu cat

All the best of luck for finding Gavin and Stacey, then. I can't even remember where it was originally broadcast, never mind where to watch it online, legally, for free.

Joe Thornhill

You need to do League of Gentlemen, but it is another tangent followed by requests for Inside No. 9 and Psychoville. I would do The Thick of It first, as it is another Armando Ianucci thing. That is also an argument for doing Veep.

Stephen Morris

Mind you, don’t feel too hung up on “democracy”… remember that it’s election year on your side of the pond, and the popular vote winner doesn’t always get the prize 😜

Kevin Hussey

Craig isn’t going anywhere.

Brian Moran

I know you've mentioned Craig's detest for G&S before but I'll say now: Sounds like you need a new moderator. From my understanding, despite not getting payed by you, they still work for you and should be nonbiased in aiding your experience on a platform, not hindering you from doing what you want. This IS a dictatorship and you ARE the dictator. No-one else.

Joe Thornhill

Give PhoneShop a go, I think you will love it, it's a classic show

This series of three parts with its Blade Runner homage is more clever than it is funny. It's clever in its copying of many scenes almost word for word or in actions from the original Blade Runner movie

Yaapsdad

When he says he's got to get back to the Priory, he means a famous place for people to go to getvhelp with problems like alcoholism, drug addiction. A bit like the Betty Ford Clinic

Yaapsdad

In this episode of Red Dwarf they've ended up on Coronation Street, which is set in Manchester, currently it is the longest running soap opera on British tv. Craig Charles had a part in it too. This episode takes place on the sets of the soap, including the famous pub The Rovers Return.

Yaapsdad

I don't know or remember why you didn't like Still Game? What was the reason. I really like it so I'm intrigued why you didn't.

Yaapsdad

Also from LoG, Reece Sheersmith, one of the main writers and actors. You recently saw him in Max and Paddy as the Bobster, singing The first cut I'd the deepest about his vasectomy

Yaapsdad

If you do watch it, then You're my wife now

Yaapsdad

Also on LoG, it's a local show for local people, there's nothing for you here

Yaapsdad

If you don't watch League of Gentlemen (LoG) we promise, (high pitched voice) We won't burn you.

Yaapsdad

Gavin and Stacey is a very Marmite show. You either love it or hate it. Personally I love it. Marmite, I mean, whereas Gavin and Stacey has never interested me at all.

Yaapsdad

i concur. She will love it

Dave Jones

4:00 I can guarantee that you will 100% be into The League of Gentlemen. It's not just a comedy series, it's part horror story / part drama / part parody drama of popular UK soap. Painfully funny once you get to know the characters a little (say ep 2 or 3 onwards, you'll be hooked). It's incredibly clever, witty and very dark. People get murdered or die in it often. Unforgettable comedy characters, the 3 guys who we see onscreen and the 4th offscreen writers of it are comedic geniuses and obv fans of (classic) horror films. With references to 'The Wicker Man' as one example (the Christopher Lee version). One of the League trio was in Benidorm (actor Steve Pemberton). Another of the League trio is Mark Gatiss, he created the hugely popular BBC series Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Mark also has a small role in Game of Thrones, he played Tycho Nestoris, a rep for the Iron Bank of Braavos.

Jason Scade

I really think Gavin and Stacey is best watched with Queen Boomer, as it has some (relatively light) drama and romance elements.

Jay

You can't beat Vangelis themes - https://youtu.be/jKCdNnAEpJY?si=FK4jqcG8_U3vy1DK

Gavin Hall

No way were they gonna compose music as good as Vangellis for Bladerunner, so they didn't bother attempting it, he's always been too good in whatever films he composed for.

Gavin Hall

Re league of gentlemen i think if you give it a chance youll be hooked, its really good!

Johnnyenglish

Agreed, that's how votes work. I don't like Gavin & Stacey either, but unless the plan is for KB to cancel all the other shows he's watching and just binge it for a month, then the "I'LL UNSUBSCRIBE" gang can fuck all the way off.

Z is for Zed

And now back to Red Dwarf!

Z is for Zed

Looking forward to your reactions for S10 of Red Dwarf. I haven't actually seen Bladerunner so I actually missed a lot of references in this season. Thanks for filling me in 😅

Matthew Seaward

thing is, when you get all the main shows out the way, you are going to have to get around to things like gavin and stacey eventually, but The show is very good, don't listen to the haters, if they don't like it then don't watch it, its pretty simple. You have to remember this was made before james corden became a dick, its what blew him up into fame and it went to his head. However as much as corden is a prick, his character is actually pretty funny. You will be missing out on comedy gold if you avoid it because of the people essentially trying to hold you to ransom

Dave Jones

Re. your poll discussion at the start you genuinely can't go wrong no matter what you choose next, considering even the lowest ranked shows had 60+ votes... It also doesn't take into account your Youtube audience, so even though loads of us on here (including me) might not love Gavin & Stacey, 300 patrons do and thousands more on Youtube do. And then there's the reverse of that where only 67 patrons (myself not being one of them) voted for Skins, but that's actually a show that might get tons of views on youtube compared to Patreon... So with all that being said, my point is that whilst neither the most voted for or least voted for shows would be my top choice personally, they are someone's, and so you can't win with us muppets! Pick the one that looks most like your kinda thing & enjoy it! Red dwarf has 18 episodes left, Fresh Meat has 14 left and Blackadder has 12 left, so I'm looking forward to all these same arguments in a few months time haha
