The Story of Only Fools and Horses Ep 6 "Family Matters" REACTION!

Some sad tales in this episode, but I loved the series.

I'd love to see a rock and chips reaction too, just to throw my hat in there

Uncle Albert was a great character but I still prefer Grandad

A brilliant ensemble cast. David Jason consistently turns in one of the greatest and believable performances as Del Boy, and rightly get’s the majority of the plaudits. Mixed with Nicholas Lyndhurst’s perfect comic timing - especially in his reaction shots, hilariously portraying confused, shocked, and amused with just a look and always managing to get some of the biggest laughs out of it. Sitcom perfection. I’m currently up to “Sickness and Wealth” on the patreon reactions, so quite a few classic still to come. Lovely Jubbly.

I was wrong on this, I didn't think OFAH would be received well on the other side of the pond but I'm pleased you got it. Maybe add 'Just Good Friends' to your list, I never liked it when it first aired but I watched it again a few years ago and the jokes hit far better than they did when I was a kid.

Jason Bonner

Yep, only 3 episodes of rock and chips! Well worth the watch, it’s more of a drama than a comedy and the main character is Dels mum (who we never see in OFAH). Nick plays “Freddie the Frog”

KB maybe a complete rewatch one day, WITH Queen Boomer?

'After the tragic passing of his son Archie at the tender age of 20, David is reported to have been a rock for his former colleague and his wife Lucy. A source disclosed to The Sun: "He's [David] been in regular touch [with Nicholas] ever since and like everyone else who cares for Nick and his family is just trying to provide whatever support he can."-

Yes to rock and 🍟 🍟

Sadly, it was reported this year that David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst no longer speak to each other. Lyndhurst lost his son a few years ago and whilst Jason was supportive it changed Nicholas a bit and they no longer speak. There was a possibility of another reunion show but Lyndhurst opted to do Frasier instead.

FYI KB, the actress shown being interviewed, Wanda Ventham who played Cassandra's mum, is actually Benedict Cumberbatch's real mum. Someone may have told you already in the past.

Rock and Chips plays like a drama with comedic bits. They have a film/movie (not video) look and have no studio audience laughter track. It's worth doing to understand the Trotters' back story and has some good characters with the family and Del's gang, etc. Worth doing as it's only 3 long episodes.

Edward kitchener?!? I never knew John Sullivan gave Grandad a first or middle name.

If you watch rock and chips next to would make my year haha

Adam Lovatt

Been fantastic watching this 6-part documentary and your reaction, KB! Definitely do Rock and Chips - it is only 3 episodes, more of a drama with some funny bits than a sitcom with some serious bits, but it's a fascinating watch even if nothing will ever beat OFAH for its reach and rewatchability. I'm sure most of us on here would happily see you re-react to OFAH with Queen Boomer at some stage too. It's time consuming so we know it may need to wait! 😎

If you like drama I’d highly recommend the British police series No Offence - it’s darkly funny and just plain dark. I’ll pop it in the chat

I always say OFAH is a cultural icon, it really is interwoven in British culture in a way that’s hard to describe - it’s way more than just a popular comedy

Kieran B

They are still there.

Brian Moran

Definitely go with Rock and Chips Nicholas Lyndhurst always comes across as a lovely bloke, he tragically lost his 19-year old son not too long ago too - poor sod. I’m a huge Frasier fan as well but still haven’t seen the new ones, but he’s the other main cast member I understand. Hopefully you’ll get to watch Goodnight Sweetheart one day too

Kieran B

Rock and chips is ace for story

Rich

Absolutely.

Austyn Shaw

yes, YES, yes doooooooooooooooooooooo Rock and Chips

Jed Baker

Yeah, agreed. I think a lot of us mentioned the FT documentary at the time - I hope they get round to that at some point.

Phil Robinson

Loved watching these documentaries with you a lot. Yeah, just do Rock 'N Chips mate - I doubt you'll regret it! From John Sullivan's other works as shown in this episode, "Dear John" was always a favourite of mine - another show with a great cast and brilliant characters.

Phil Robinson

Rock and Chips is very much worth doing. It's not the same as OFAH, its focus is more on storytelling than straight humour, but it's a very funny show and a good way to cap the story off.

Have community chats been deleted? I can't find them, was going to read them to see what people are suggesting but they aren't showing 😊

Daniel Colton

Thoroughly enjoyed this whole OFAH journey with you. Thank you. Maybe this has been answered before somewhere, but were you and QB still planning to react to Father Ted 'Near, far away' documentary?
