Sophie Winkleman is actually a member of the British Royal Family by marriage. Her title is Lady Frederick Windsor since she married Lord Frederick Windsor who is a second cousin of the current King. She also had a recurring role on the Two and a Half Men TV show.

Yes this looks like you'd expect/imagine the future to be, all clean and sleek, but It's not realistic (especially for a mining ship that (never mind the 3 million years of hibernation) has been in service for who knows how long. The old Red Dwarf felt real, old, lived in, "road worn", like it should. It's been through some shit. That's just basic world building.

2024-07-29 23:54:40 +0000 UTCOh - it’s worth adding that it was a decade since series 8 and Back to Earth, and the show moved from the BBC to a commercial network (Dave) which is why the reboot had a new look *although Dave is a subsidiary of BBC Studios which is the commercial branch of the BBC which creates money for the BBC by making and selling shows plus running commercials on its channels

2024-07-29 22:17:19 +0000 UTCYes, it’s a bit odd this mini-series, not just because of the laughter but the dynamics/formula is out. Some of the other series had multi-episode storylines but they also had standalone plots which were unique and resolved in one show, so at least you had closure on something and a natural end to draw towards This episode however comes across as weak is all it does is basically introduce a new character and the plot premise with no subplot - by the time it gets to the actual story the show is over
