Heavy TV coverage of war is normal now but at the time there were definitely those questioning the morality of watching missiles strike targets on the news.

Also, some of the interviews in this eposide are with real people who assumed they were being interviewed about real subjects on a real current affairs programme. Brass Eye takes the whole thing even further.

Lady Trumpington was a very funny woman - she stuck two fingers up to a Lord in the House of Lords when the man commented on her age. She also appeared at least once on Have I Got News For You and was very bawdy for a woman in her nineties. The red briefcase is a traditional despatch box used by the government and monarchy for sending ministerial papers etc. The Chancellor will hold one up when announcing a budget. It's one of our mad traditions we just can't let go of.
