The Day Today S1 Ep3 "Meganews" REACTION!

Comments

The Queen and PM were fighting not having sex lol

makadeni123

No. It wouldn't make any sense.

Jeffrey44

The main series of brass eye is not as "extreme" as the Special. More general topics

N.O.U

You need to watch the Armando Iannucci "Hello Hugh" clips, KB

Steve King

You can’t dive straight into peadogeddan. You have to build up to it until you’re ready.

Neal Murdoch

A full episode about Peter File?

Aaron

when you get to a certain episode of this KB it may break you

Dave L

Paedogeddon is definitely the most divisive Brass Eye episode. Obviously the others aren't tame, but they cover topics that aren't paedophilia. It sounds like you've got a nice schedule going though.

Will

'Like the Lone Ranger on Tonto' is a great throwaway gag.

Chris Beaumont

"She gonna die like a dawg" - Alvin Holler

James Ellison

That’s it :)

Mike Doel

I mean, THEY were behind HIM, holding up the line and turned his back to Del and Rodney after Del made the comment. But yeah, glad he remembered that.

Joe Thornhill

Yeah, for me, Clarkson's Farm is more for education, insight into how food and farming works in this country and the trials & tribulations that go with it, seeing Clarkson in a slightly different way (actually trying to do some good hard work. (Remember this wasn't a hobby, he offered to look after the land since the owner no longer could). Then there's the touch of entertainment/comedy. He doesn't even watch Top Gear/Grand Tour for the laughs or cars anyway. Just the places they go and the things they do. So I'm sure he'd never get old of the farm scenery. Though I will say, it'll be odd because it's an ongoing show for who-knows how long, with 1-2years in-between series'.

Joe Thornhill

Would be great to do Brass Eye eventually. It is like a souped up version of The Day Today. Watching the ped episode before the others was brave! It's not making light of child abuse, it is lampooning the extreme and knee-jerk reactions that don't really protect kids at all. That is basically the idea of it. It's also the hypocrisy of it all: for example, The Sun newspaper used to publish topless photos of 16 year-old models, made lascivious comments about under-age girls, but also called itself "a family newspaper" and was always moralistic and high on its horse. It is in some ways a difficult watch, but a superb satire on media and political moralising and people getting on their soapbox when they don't know what they are talking about. And it has Simon Pegg in it.

Ash X

I noticed they pretty much sampled the Coronation Street theme, too.

Joe Thornhill

His Johnathan Sizz character should've stood there for another 10-15 seconds at 25:30.

Joe Thornhill

I've you hadn't seen any of Chris Morris' spoofs if was a bit dumb to send you that as a first watch. I would have been put off for good if I hadn't been familiar with the deliberate ironic extremism of the other episodes...its a shame because for the most part brass eye is superior to the day to day even though the latter is hilarious.

R Lawrence

The bureau de change thing is a spoof of British soap operas as you would already know but if you'd ever regularly watched eastenders you'd get Steve Coogan and all the others mannerisms and expressions more but glad you could still appreciate the absurdity of it.

R Lawrence

Same 😁

Martin N

Yeah KB more Partridge is never a bad thing.

Fordy7169

Great reaction! Steve Coogan, to my mind is the greatest character actor of our generation. He's phenomenal and one of the reasons I kept suggesting this show as every character he plays is golden. Just brilliantly funny. He also does straight roles too. Philomena is a fantastic film. He was also brilliant in the Jimmy Saville series - which was an incredible bit of TV. Not an easy watch but really well done. I think Brass Eye would be great but I think it can be done at a later date. I've sent a few clip suggestions. See what you think. The Paedophile Special ramps it up to another level and I think going in cold was a mistake. There's so much good stuff in the other episodes. There's plenty of Partidge to react to anyway. So whatever you pick I'm sure we'll all enjoy being along for the ride. Cheers!

Duncan Hart

Bloody hell

Mark Greaves

Haha, I love this episode. It's amazing how often my mates and I still reference "...no one died" to this day.

Henry Graham

Superb! Glad you're loving it.

Jason Scade

I think they deliberately used Milwaukee as the setting for a bunch of characters with southern accents. It was part of the joke!

Simon Graham-Smith

Yes and if you remember on only fools and horses, when del and Rodney were flying out on Miami twice, thy looked behind themselves and it was Richard Branson, Del said who does he think he is, you would think he owned the airline

Mike Doel

US self deprecating? Team America - fuck yeahh, the south park guys matt n trey did you a good one. was needed at the time.

emu cat

One of the most underrated comedies of all time!

AdamMcAdamface

I re-watched 'this time' recently.. forgot how good it was! They're all brilliant, hope KB sticks with Partridge to the end.

Jon

lil note,that wasn't a public bathroom,it was the changing rooms at a football ground🤔🤷‍♂️💜

Adam Hale

The Armando Iannucci Shows would be a great show to react to

tricky D77

"fried to be"👀👏👏😂😂💜

Adam Hale

I'm so looking forward to kb reacting to mid morning matters. I think it's some of AP funniest moments.

Tim Phillipson

I think the specials are next in order, then mid morning matters. 😀 then this time. 😀

Tim Phillipson

Think polls are a great idea. I see calls for Clarksons Farm ... I find that and Top gear shows the least amusing programmes I've ever watched (and the latter takes up two boring reaction slots) ... but thats just me and if the people vote for it then like votes for our respective political leaders we should lump it. If people do vote I hope they vote for what they think you would enjoy, as some stuff just wont translate; for example, I love The New Statesman with Rick Mayall, but I dont think you'd get 90% of the references so it would be pointless to watch.

Ged Fazakerley

I like your stance on polls, you'd think it would be the best way to decide, but I'd rather you watch what you think you will like without having to deal with disagreements from us muppets. You always take on recommendations so all is cool!

AdamMcAdamface

Woohoo! What a surprise. 😃🥳 And after just finishing my shift. No one died.

Jason Scade

Agreed! That episode was the most controversial by far, but actually proved the point of Chris Morris that the issue is sensationalised by the media in a totally skewed way, and actually harms genuine efforts to tackle the issue. Other episodes are just as outrageous but tend to deal with less contentious topics.

AdamMcAdamface

I actually agree with you about the Brass eye pdogeddon episode. The first time i saw that, it was a edited version, which I didn't know about. But I watched the original a few years later, and I think it did cross a line. Which is funny because I have a very broad line. I like black, crude humour. Some of the stuff on that was just uncomfortable to watch. However, the series itself is pretty funny, and worth a watch.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

13:55 yes that's richard Branson. He's the Virgin guy.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

John Major? It's crazy to think we've had two super long governments from both parties since this show went out. Feels like a lifetime ago.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

I think now you've seen The Day Today then Brasseye will make a lot more sense. Being hit with that particular episode out of context was maybe a bit full on! Now you know how Chris Morris operates and satirises news media it should sit more easily.

David Mannion

I’m watching this from Milwaukee and can confirm the accent is not correct

Ewan Dunn

Yeah, stick with Partridge after this! Has to be the 3 AP specials next! ‘Open books’, ‘welcome to the places of my life’ and ‘scissored isle’.

Jon

i would love kb to react to euro trash. i think he would lose his shit over the dubbed audio bits

Dave Jones

We still get the "This is Britain" sequence on TV every time something bad happens. Hopefully they won't have to pull it out when England play Spain tomorrow

Domlaaa

I mean I could go on...
