Chris Morris' radio shows were bonkers too...while they lasted at least because he kept getting fired.

Shoomer1988

Yeah, that was dark.

Shoomer1988

That whole Uzi Lover clip is brilliant. I think one comment I've seen on a YT vid put it best about that segment: "That's 10/10... managed to take the piss out of rap music, rap culture, MTV, NME (and other stupid magazines with their hipster analysis of albums) and Radio 1 all in under 2 minutes." Spot on. Chris Morris is a very efficient comedian. Managed to pack a lot of piss taking into under 2 mins :)

Oliver

I also hope for Brasseye, but i'd also love to see you watch the Armando Iannucci Show, only 8 episodes long.

David Williams

Brass Eye awaits.

Joe Nichol

Hey Yo!!loving the Scott Hall top!👌💜 the teen spirit cover and uzi lover tho👀😂😂👏💜

Adam Hale

My username is inspired by.. Brass-Eye's drugs ep..The dealer's confusion when he hears the phrase " QUACK HANDLE " for the 1st time is an absolute joy!

Space.Quack

I prefer me oh myra over uzi lover

Anthony Brown

waiting for this Marlon Brando one now...👀😂💜

Adam Hale

Yes. :/

Jason Scade

Fab reaction, hilarious and real A+++ tier UK comedy gold. 30 years old, amazing! Very happy you loving it so much. What do you think of Chris Morris' personality in this compared to how he was in The IT Crowd?

Jason Scade

Cam Fam doesn't feel like a joke anymore.

GlideSlidey

🏆 He plays an ex-roadie, now a private small business pest exterminator (crew of two). Always banging on about the glory days of touring in the 70s, famous rock people and his wild youth. It's very funny. Typical UK deadpan-ish humor. I'm a huge Coogan fan, have seen him twice live over the years. 'Dr. Terrible's House of Horrible' is great too (Coogan).

Jason Scade

Ouch...the ian Curtis joke

Paul Liversage

I think if you did Brass Eye, just skip the 7th episode which was the Peadogeddon special. It’s a very difficult subject to laugh at and even though it’s over the top and was having a go at the media and government, it was by far one of the most controversial and complained about episodes of anything at the time. While the 6 regular episodes have their shocking moments, they’re nowhere near as uncomfortable or extreme as the special. It’s totally understandable to be turned off by the special episode. I remember watching it with my ex girlfriend at the time and while i laughed at the absurdity of it, she absolutely hated it and it made for some very uncomfortable viewing. I think Chris Morris was trying to get people talking about difficult subjects that the media and government often mishandled or tried to brush under the carpet.

James Ellison

If you like Coogan, you should watch his two season show called Saxondale.

Rob Palmer

Did you notice when the credits started rolling, he rolled up his sleeve and started shooting up? 🤣 I first saw the Nirvana and Fur-Q bits when I was 14 in 1994, and me and my friend Andrew pissed ourselves laughing. I consider myself so fortunate to have seen and enjoyed The Day Today, KMKY, and I’m Alan Partridge the first time around.

Rob Palmer

I've had a seriously rough couple of days, and watching you completely lose your shit over Fur-Q has cheered me up a bit. Thanks.

Charlie

Brilliant stuff Brass eye is the natural follow up but is more controversial. There was also an audio series called ‘blue jam’ which Chris morris was involved in, lots of the same characters from British comedy (no coogan from memory and is on YouTube). If you think brass eye is close to the knuckle then blue jam makes it look like a kids programme. I’m sure blue jam would offend many people. Cook’d bomb’d is the YouTube channel

Sjscorp21

Been listening to ‘Uzi Lover’ on repeat this morning on my way to work.. getting me hyped to fill out spreadsheets.

Jon

Who was playing in that Live Aid clip?

Joe Thornhill

If you like "Wacky" sketches like this one, you should watch Horrible Histories which is a British classic. It's chaotic to say the least.

Darnell Jenkins

KB I know you tried the Brasseye special and it was too much but just to let you know the main series of 6 episodes I think isn't really more out there than the day today extremeness wise. I see the points he was trying to make in the special about press hysteria etc but I personally think he went too far with it too in the special. The rest of Brasseye I think you would like

Richard Stokes

Great reaction as always. Having asked for this repeatedly utterly delighted you're reacting to this. As others have said Brass Eye is definitely a must after this at some point as are full episodes Jam. The absolute pinnacle of absurd dark deranged comedy. Sheer brilliance. There's a few other Morris goodies I'll chuck in the Youtube reaction suggestions. Knew you'd like this So thanks for reacting. Watched this with a big old smile on my stupid face.

Duncan Hart

You should check out some 'Goldie Lookin Chain' who were a Welsh comedy rap band who enjoyed a bit of chart success around 2004, their hits "Guns Don't Kill People Rappers Do" and "Your Mother's Got a Penis" were pretty funny, also on a Welsh theme, you should also check out some 'Dirty Sanchez' which was the Welsh version of 'Jackass' and also pretty funny, REALLY gross at times too! 🤣

Mark Jones

It's definitely worth watching all of Brass Eye. If you saw Paedogeddon without the context of having seen The Day Today, and other Chris Morris shows first, I can see why it might have been a little jarring. With context, you are able to more fully understand what the show is actually doing - lampooning the social/moral panic the media whip up, which does nothing to solve any issue, and in fact causes more problems than solutions (e.g. paediatricians being attacked by stupid people who don't know their arse from their elbow). That was a very long sentence - sorry!

James Mulligan

No it wasn't the first episode that he watched it was the p file one, it might've just been a clip but it was def ep 7...its a shame its not a good one to start with.

R Lawrence

I'm hoping now he's more au fait with Chris Morris' style he'll get on with it more and give it another go.

Manly Stump

Armando Iannucci, Chris Morris, and Steve Coogan are like a Supergroup of comedy, even though they were not that well known when they first started working together. I'd have loved to be a fly on the wall when they were coming up with these mad sketches and carving out their own unique take on comedy!

AdamMcAdamface

Lmao Billy! Ok here’s the story about Brass Eye. Someone was spam requesting for us to react to the Paedogeddon episode I think it’s called. Queen Boomer got about 5 minutes into it and walked out because it was too dark for her. I kept going for another few minutes and then I stopped. It was insane lol. This doesn’t mean I won’t be doing Brass Eye reactions in the future, but QB wants no part of it and I felt that the paedogeddon episode was too much at the time. That’s all it was. I might see that episode later and view it differently now that I know it’s a show that goes full dark arts of muppetry. Who knows. We will see.

Brian Moran

Peter O'Hanrahanhanrahan

Stewart Hainey

If you enjoy this sort of comedy, Brass Eye (with Chris Morris) is the logical follow-up to this series. I agree, I love this sort of comedy. Some of it doesn't land, but when it does, it's outrageous and hilarious.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

I’ve seen The Day Today so many times since the 90’s and only just noticed the woman punch that guy out in the background, i honestly don’t know how Ive missed that

James Ellison

You need to watch a full episode of jam

Dave Jones

"Uzi like a metal dick in my hand Magazine like a big testicle gland" Man, I miss 90's rap!

The Everything Guy

Any potential Brass Eye reactions need to be done concurrently with the next Alan Partridge series... need to keep the Partridge train rolling! Also, I think KB mentioned he tried Brass Eye but didn't make it through the first episode.

Jon

Someone's had a go on youtube and it's pretty good.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YATo-wHTA2Q&ab_channel=SimosFunk

Jon

Omg! I'm over the moon! :D I've been spamming recommendations for this to you for 3-4 months (apologies). I'm so very, very happy you seem to be enjoying it as much as I expected you to. I hope QB gets to see them too. Brasseye is the follow-up series to The Day Today. I heard you watched the *massively* controversial Brasseye special ep 7. Perhaps not the best one to have watched first. It caused a huge uproar in the UK when broadcast. Tabloid papers were running stories on Chris Morris as being the most hated man in the UK. I heard that at that time, Chris Morris actually left the UK for several days or more to escape paparazzi camped outside his home. So are they (tabloids) saying that a satirist comedian was more hated than actual UK pedophiles at that time in the UK? The point of episode 7 of Brasseye was that Chris Morris was pointing out the over-the-top, frothing at the mouth, rabid approach that tabloids papers ('rags' they are derisively known as) take to reporting on sex crimes against children. It's unprofessional, counter-productive and not helping the situation of these awful, very evil crimes. And further more, I believe this over-the-top kind of reporting and stories these tabloids would do was primarily to have sensational headlines to encourage people to buy their papers. The bottom line for them was to exploit the situation to make more money for the company. And saving / helping children was further down their list of priorities. And these papers went on to prove Chris' point by their blood-lust coverage of his ep 7 Brasseye. Completely missing the point. KB, I hope you reconsider Brasseye and just skip the special ep of #7. Series 1 of Brasseye (it only has 1) eps 1 to 6 are quite controversial like some of the sketches in The Day Today, but they aren't as shocking as ep 7 and I think they'd be okay for YouTube. Brasseye is as funny and as good The Day Today. And 100% worth you and QB's time. I consider them to be companion pieces as much as Godather I and II are. Having said all that, I'm going to go enjoy your Day Today ep reaction now. :) Thank you so very much for choosing to do this show. ♥

Jason Scade

Say hello to the bad guy... King Boomer - If you know you know mang'

Craig McCulloch

Armando Ianucci producer/ writer played the 1st politics reporter outside parliament where someone was punched in the background.

Fordy7169

I'm still waiting for Chris Morris to come out of his semi-retirement, release one album as Fur Q and then just disappear again. We at least need the full version of Uzi Lover.

Domlaaa

When this series finishes (only 6 eps) make sure you do the 9/11 special. Only 10 minutes or so. It's ntt taking the piss out of 9/11, but the reporter Peter O'Hanrahanrahan whos there

makadeni123

So glad you're doing TDT - obviously you have to do Brass Eye once you're finished this.
